  1. He was good for a month and a half to start the season. He's just a typical mediocre relief pitcher. Can't expect him to be good in a situation where he's overworked recently . 4 games in 5 days will kill any RP.
  2. Totally expected with Ruiz pitching for the 4th time in 5 games.
  3. You weren't sure about Yolbert but at least he would look at some pitches. Oh and he's hitting .305 now
  4. Just what the Sox need with the pitching staff all used up and injured , an extra inning game.
  5. Nor Sousa nor Crick most likely. BP still going to be shorthanded. Starter is going to be left in a while no matter what happens.
  6. Nice to see the lower level ACL (4-1) and DSL (6-0 ) teams off to hot starts. Not going to try to draw any conclusions.
  7. I'm wondering how long he stays at A+. I'm not pushing for a promotion mind you. He's doing pretty well for a guy who had so much time off then more time off this season. K rate seems a little high (25.4%). I'm hoping that K rate has been improving from earlier in the season. AA would be a big step and he probably should have around 250 AB's and then assess if he's ready to make the jump to AA. Once in AA and fully healthy and some of the rust is gone , you hope he could progress more rapidly.
  8. Yay ? At least somebody woke up although it does seems they hit the snooze alarm a few times first. Let's see how long it is before Grandal is deemed IL worthy.
  9. As Balta pointed out the issue was who is exactly was available to pitch yesterday ? Apparently the only choices were Sousa, Crick , Foster, Lambert and maybe Hendriks. If Hendriks was available he's not going to pitch the 7th so that leaves one fairly fresh guy (Lambert). Crick had pitched 2.0 innings on the 9th. Sousa pitched on the 8th and 9th (1.2IP). Foster also pitched on the 8th and 9th (1.1IP). Ruiz also pitched on the 8th and 9th (2.0IP). So Ruiz, Foster and Sousa all would've been pitching in 3 out of the last 4 games and they all gave up runs yesterday. With 2 of the 1st 3 batter coming up being lefties, LaRussa did what most managers probably do and brings in the LH Sousa to see if he could muddle through 3 batters. Obviously it didn't work but it's not like he had a bunch of great options to choose from. One could say Lambert was the best choice. Jimmy Lambert with the 9.24 ERA and 21 hits allowed in 12.2 in AAA. Perhaps Crick who had already been on the Charlotte to Chicago to Charlotte shuttle before. Any way you slice it was a close your eyes and draw a name out of a hat and hope for the best situation when all you have to choose from is a bunch of tired and AAA arms or bring in a RHP to face the lefties.
  10. Trying to point out lack of viable options ? All the viable options had pitched 2 of the previous 3 games which made most of them coming in would be 3 out of the last 4 games. He wasn't pointing anything out. He used what he had. Lambert and Ruiz did ok but who's to say it would have gone any better if they were used 1st ? A bunch of tired arms and AAA trash. People can cry all they want about TLR and Sousa but without Velasquez, Bummer, Graveman, Lopez, Kelly and maybe Hendriks what the heck did anyone expect ?
  11. Yep everybody thinks TLR wanted to pitch Sousa. Look at who isn't available, Bummer apparently, Lopez , Graveman. Sousa was the only LH in the pen to face 2 of 3 LHH and he pitched on the 8th and 9th and now again on the 11th. He's doing what any of the other back of the pen guys would've done in the same situation being overused. But hey Crick Lambert , Ruiz and Foster were available right? Foster also pitched on the 8th and 9th surely he could pitch 3 out of 4 days just like Sousa did. Oh wait he also got bombed once brought in. Ruiz also pitched on the 8th and 9th. Pitched today too gave up a hit and walk in 1 inning. Crick pitched the 2 innings on the 9th. Pretty damn slim pickin's if you ask me. If anyone thinks Banks, Severino, Crick, Ruiz, Lambert aren't going to get knocked around just as much when they get over worked , think again. These are the arms TLR has to work with that are on the 40 that I haven't mentioned yet Yoan Ayber, Jason Bilous, Ryan Burr, Parker Markel. These are pitchers on the IL Crochet, Kelly, Stiever, Velasquez, Lynn. Sousa is just the latest under qualified arm to get the round trip ticket from Charlotte to Chicago. More coming that will surely give TLR better results when they too start pitching more than they should be and aren't MLB quality pitchers. Round trip ticket . All aboard !?!?
  12. Of course. That's why I said the whole organization is asleep.
  13. Yep BP severely undermanned. Whole organization is asleep at the wheel. But hey I'm on a island and insufferable but too often right for some people's tastes.
  14. Was that a Fire Tony chant I just heard. Good for the fans !
  15. Unless he's one of those guys who isn't available or sore or something preventing him from pitching.
  16. Yea look at what was just posted several guys not available in the pen today but just keep on being baseball stupid.
