  1. The catcher is not permitted to block the runner's path to the plate unless he is in possession of the ball, though blocking the path of the runner in a legitimate attempt to receive a throw is not considered a violation. The runner can be ruled safe if the umpire determines the catcher violated this rule.
  2. That was not up to Sheets most likely. If the coach says go on contact you go. If he gets too far down the line he's vulnerable to getting picked off on a ball. I don't think too many guys with Sheets speed are going to score on that.
  3. Ok confirmed that you are the delusional one if you don't think this team as currently constructed isn't seriously flawed.
  4. I asked for your plan not what you think you know about the Sox. I guess you must agree with that.
  5. The off season was months ago and if teaching guys to lay off sliders was easy there wouldnt be a pitch called the slider. Please don't pretend being a hitter is easy.
  6. So you have no plan for the future of this .500 team since all you did was talk about who Eloy can hit better than and said nothing about the terrible fielding or Eloy the DH like all the other DH's the Sox have. Nor did you address why he's not worth anything unless he actually ever plays.Thank you. Cueto is as good as gone if the Sox are still doing what they are doing now at the trade deadline and if he goes so will others.
  7. Webb looks great. Slider sinker change. He's throwing strikes and getting weak contact. He's a very good pitcher.
  8. How is Eloy the groundball machine and a terrible fielder when he is healthy ,which is never, an upgrade over anyone. Perhaps you don't realize Cueto is gone after this year and Lynn will be 36 and he's been injured much of the year. I think you may be delusional about Eloy and the state of the starting Rotation, the massive amount of DH's the Sox have , our terrible defense and the current payroll constraints the Sox are facing. Maybe you need to explain your vision of the future.
  9. Montas can find a spot in any rotation especially if the Sox can trade Cueto or Lynn. Plus Montas is signed through next year. Eloy provides nothing if he's not in the lineup ever.
  10. 3 easy outs for Webb. Robert in particular swinging at a slide at least a foot outside. I mean does he think he's going to get a fastball down 1-2 in the count?
  11. You move Montas and get back a player who ,if healthy, could be worth more than Montas in trade. They just have to find a way to keep him healthy and pay him $10.3M next year and if he has a big year trade him. Not likely, I know like most trade scenarios from fans but you never know what a GM might do. As a GM you keep making trade offers and maybe one everyone thinks is crazy can work for you.
  12. Why don't we want or need Montas and why do we need Eloy ?
  13. I'd see if Oakland wants him for Montas.
  14. I'd like to see a trade with Toronto, a big one. They still need starting pitching perhaps they'd like Lynn and Cueto . In return Cavan Biggio is very versatile (plays all INF and OF positions LH bat FA in 2026. If the Sox can find a taker for Leury somewhere. Biggio is the perfect replacement. Ricky Tiedman (19) is a big LHP in A+ with as much upward movement as anyone in the Toronto system. I think he's ranked 100 in MLB prospects and should move higher. The Blue Jays scooped up Tiedeman in the third round and signed him to a bonus of $644,800. After not having much of a detailed strength or throwing program prior to the Draft, Tiedemann took off once the Blue Jays got him into their new player development complex. The lefty added more muscle to his 6-foot-4 frame and his velocity ticked up from the 93-94 range pre-draft, now sitting at 95-96 mph and reaching higher. Adrian Hernandez is a 22yr old right handed relief pitcher in AAA . He is small, 5'8" 190 but is supposed to have a great changeup, His fastball isn't anything special, low 90's . He is on Toronto's 40. Make it look like you're throwing in the towel like Seattle did last year. Then offer Eloy to the A's for Montas and see what they say.
  15. It was like a World Series game !
  16. I don't but then again I don't have confidence that I'm right either and hoping I'm wrong. Still a long way to go. I'll be with them every step of the way.
  17. I think it can work with a lot of players who might not otherwise develop into MLB players. That said big strong guys need to tap into their power and that means pulling the ball. It's fine for a 2 strike approach but when you have the count in your favor it's bombs away.
  18. Might have to keep an eye on Moises Castillo who has started off hot replacing Sosa at 2nd base in Birmingham. No power though.
  19. If Sosa starts only hitting singles in Charlotte ,I know who to blame. . Charlotte is a bandbox he should do very well there.
