I think you are forgetting some trades. Blue Jays got Adam Cimber and Corey Dickerson. Plus you are leaving out the earlier trades were the Brewers got Adames and Trevor Richards then traded Richards to the Blue Jays for Rowdy Tellez . The Rays got J.P. Freyereisen and Drew Rasmussen back from the Brewers.

There may be another move but it won't be earth shattering. When we take inventory of what the other contenders did we will fall far short. About the only impact guy I hold out some hope for is Kimbrel but I'm guessing another contender will value his services far more.

I will 100% agree with this if very little happens before the deadline tomorrow. But the sentiment seems to always have been here that it wasn't necessary to make any strong moves or give Rodon a break and that the future means more than this year. I have been somewhat scathing arguing that the words put forth by Hahn and the previous actions of Reindorf always promises a better tomorrow while ignoring the present and for some unknown reason many here trust them.

I wouldn't say prior to 2018. I can't even say after 2018. 2018 they did it and also in 2019 they traded away International money.

They seem to like guys with control over guys with overwhelming stuff if you are getting a pitcher who can be taught other things who might have some upside with the FB and secondary pitches. Plus outside of that it wouldn't take a genius to think that if you had to choose among some of our guys like Stiever and Lambert who the Sox might not have given up that Pilkington was having a good year and that seems to be a deciding factor in the prospects that are getting traded now. Of course I know you are just asking me this so you can shoot me down . Let me then ask you this ? Why is it such a big secret for you to say who the Sox were targeting in a Samardzija trade. It happened 6 years ago. What's the big deal there ?

Considering it took Semien to get Samardzija you would think so but I guess its a mystery that requires a DM for anyone to know even though it was 6 years ago. Had to be to a contender so if we are looking at the 2015 standings , Cardinals, Pirates , Cubs, Mets, Dodgers, Rangers, Astro's, Blue Jays, Yankees . Not counting the Royals . Urias of the Dodgers probably ranked too high . Same for Syndergaard, Bryant, Correa, Corey Seager, . Gallo , Pederson, Glasnow, Taillon, Judge, Marco Gonzales, Josh Bell, Aaron Nola. Of course lots of guys from the bottom 50 of the top 100 who never turned out very well.

I'm just informing anyone looking at the rankings that they don't mean much now. It's not a commentary on the trade. When I saw the trade going down before I knew who it was Cleveland was getting . I figured it was a minor league starting pitcher and if I had given it much thought before I actually saw Pilkington's name I probably would have guessed that it was him just based on this seasons results as the kind of pitcher Cleveland likes.

Yea but even the 2021 preseason lists are very old considering there were still guys like Vaughn , Kopech and Crochet on it and 2020 season didn't even happen. We see a lot of the prospects given up in trades are having good seasons which seems to be outweighing rankings now.

I just threw some names out there for someone impactful like Kimbrel , not necessarily Kimbrel. I didn't analyze anything. It's hard for a layman to figure it out when there's a lot going on in Kimbrel's contract: Contract Notes: 2022 Vesting/Club option includes a $1M buyout Vest with 110 games finished across 2020/2021 & 55 games finished in 2021 & passes a physical 2022 Buyout increases $1M each for 53 games finished in 2020, & 2021 I have no idea if he will reach the vesting option portion of his contract. If he does he gets $16M next year . Cubs might eat some of his contract to get more prospects. It's even likely that they do. Maybe someone out there knows more about how close he is to those 110 games finished or if they are even possible to reach.

I really think they are counting on a rebound in his BABIP for the 2nd half. It's already started if his last month of production is any indication when he's been over .900 OPS.

Doubting anything big happens. Big would mean someone on the 26 is getting moved in all likelihood. Who is the most likely ? Keuchel ? Who needs starting pitching ? Toronto, Mets, Phillies, Padres. Unless the Sox think they can get someone impactful like Kimbrel for Crochet Sheets and Burger.

His BABIP is way down so the Sox might be hoping his 2nd half is better. His ISO is up. Very solid fielder and I think that matters too.

Still the point remains that if all but one were vaccinated some players have it again and the new strain could be a very real threat to the health of players .
