Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems
- Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Spoiler alert: The White Sox fanbase isn't mentioned. All you meme makers and photoshop experts have your work cut out for you.- Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
Forgot Colome,McCann and Rodon.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
Anyway maybe we should all be guessing how much the Sox spend from this point forward. I'm going with $28M.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
Does not !- Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
Yea I don't think there was any chance the Sox gave him 4 years. That's a great deal for him with the Mets.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
I think between him and Kopech ,Kopech gets more starts but I think it's also possible Crochet gets some and if he does well gets more. I think they almost have to try that.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
Yea the numbers everyone was using is $15M left and maybe that's based on something I said a week ago about being $15 M over last years payroll already but I forgot about Colome when I did that so really were /are only $5M over. Should be room for Hendriks and a starting pitcher.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
So you don't think Crochet will be treated the same way as Kopech or did you just forget him ?- You have $30m to complete the roster...
Thats even better , I knew I had to be forgetting someone. So we may have more left than $15M ,maybe about $25M.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
Giolito, Keuchel, Lynn, (Cease, Kopech,Crochet ) maybe a FA depending on cost probably not one of the more expensive ones left unless a guy like Taijuan Walker gets as much as the rest of them do like Paxton, Tanaka,Ordorizzi, Quintana. Walker would be my choice . I'd hate to think we don't sign 1 more starting pitcher , but that may be the reality.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
I think you can count on that.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
That's what I figured out in a post a week ago that they were already $15 over last years payroll . The $30M budget is new speculation and I'm not 100% convinced its accurate.- You have $30m to complete the roster...
DId you factor in the raises for players already on the team ? They guys they got rid of EE,Cishek,GG, Rodon and Mazara pretty much equals the raises so as others said it only leaves about $15M of the $30M if we assume $30M is correct.- MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
You are right and I am sorry for that . It was Two Gun Pete who I was arguing with over Dahl. My sincere apologies. I will delete the post where I said that about you.- MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
He really wasn't going to get more than that. His projected arb. number was slightly less than $3M and he supposedly was still recovering from surgery on his throwing shoulder to clean up and repair a bunch of stuff they found wrong in there. This is what I suggested in the closed Off Season Targets thread: So perhaps a 2 year contact for $6-7M but incentives giving him a chance to earn $1M more in 2021 and $3M more in 2022 plus team options for a 3rd and 4th year with a higher pay scale or buyout . It's a better offer than the Texas one and with the 2nd year and incentives I put in it . But Dahl had that shoulder surgery and he may be more suited to LF now.- MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
That may be but then again it's always the case with injury prone guys or guys who put up inconsistent numbers. No one really wants a project now. They want a quality major leaguer . My guess is that less than half of the 30 teams have a higher payroll than last year . The Sox will be one of them but they aren't going to go hog wild. My 2nd guess is that the Sox will be among the top 5 teams either in the amount of money exceeding last years payroll or at least one of the highest by percentage of money exceeding last years payroll.- MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Well I was wrong with my theory that he wouldn't sign til February because of his recovery from his latest injury .If he can pass a physical now after the surgery on his throwing shoulder that's a good sign. His arb. number was projected to be slightly less than $3M.- The Sox don't need to sign a DH. They have Yermín Francisco Mercedes.
I don't really pay much attention to Twitter only from what's posted here. So I have no Idea who posted that about you, where she got your name from or why she would think that and I certainly don't believe her but I also don't not believer her. I'm neutral because I mostly don't care.- The Sox don't need to sign a DH. They have Yermín Francisco Mercedes.
Or he is Al's Beef. He was accused on Twitter of being one of those guys.- Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
The reason people have issues with you and I know you don't care but you use trigger words with which the more sensitive people take umbrage. It makes it seem like you are condescending and superior. Communicating efficiently is not easy and I forgive you for thinking I was taking his side . He doesn't need people thinking he said you are right. There's a lot of people here who probably already think you are too full of yourself without anyone telling you you are right.- Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
Lo you need to relax . I wasn't taking sides with anyone. I was just telling Vulture a better way to disagree with you is not to use sarcasm because readers will miss his point.- Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
I'm pretty sure this is sarcasm but I would never use sarcasm and include the phrase "you are right". People don't pick up sarcasm well when reading on a message board. If it was a novel what you just said would be followed by "he said sarcastically." But here people think you are admitting you were wrong and Ray Ray was right.- Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
See we agree then "turn and burn and adjust" . The "adjust" part may make his route efficiency look worse but a guy with less instinct to turn and burn and adjust might have great route efficiency because his eye is always on the ball but that isn't a good way to run to make the most of your speed.- Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
Right and those were the OFers I said were rare . I just couldn't recall the term used for it. Thank you. Very few use spot recognition very well. Some can do it a little but have to take a few looks on the way and some can't do it at all with eyes always on the ball . I think the guy running to the spot from his first initial look makes the best use of his speed but may not run the best route to the ball because at the last moment when he looks up again to catch it he may veer or swerve . Some route inefficiency is OK if you use your instincts rather than your eyes to maxmize your speed to the ball and run like a sprinter head straight ahead arms and legs churning, rather than running with your head up eyes on the ball which is an inefficient and slower way to run. Maybe it all evens out but route efficiency is the thing getting measured by statcast and it may not tell the whole story which is why people get uncomfortable with some defensive metrics. That was the crux of me 1st bringing it up when Ray Ray pointed out how bad Eaton's routes are and why that particular defensive metric doesn't tell the whole story. We need reminders once in a while that there are reason to question defensive metrics and I have always done that starting mostly with pitch framing. Things have to be broken down into parts and looked at in context to judge abilities like chasing flyballs or framing pitches. - Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
