  1. Clippard gave Palka 3 pitches right down the middle all he could do was foul them off.
  2. Would still surprise me. The Sox desperately want a success story. No one of all the scrubs they have picked up has even given an inkling that they belong on an MLB team . Even if it's a DH he deserves as much of a chance as all the other guys they has given playing time to. The problem is the rebuild is nearing being a somewhat finished product and if they plan on spending and filling the DH role or putting Abreu at DH then he won't get a chance.
  3. That was Eloy's 4th multi HR game of the season tying the team record shared by Jose Abreu and Zeke Bonura .
  4. He's got over 2000 AB's in the minors . Spent 3 years in the DSL from 2011-2013 only hit 2 HR's. 2014 looks like he played in the Domican Winter League, United League and Pecos League. 2015 finally got into A ball with Baltimore, 2016 at 23 yrs old. A and A+ in Baltimore's system. 2017 A+ and AA with Baltimore. Looks like he always played Dominican Winter ball those last 2 years to get more AB's. 2018 Sox got him and stuck him A+ probably because Collins and Zavala were ahead of him at AA. He was now 25 and still in A+. 2019 AA and AA with the Sox and he tore it up at both levels combining for a .317 .388 .581 .968 slash line and doing even better in AAA than AA mainly because of juiced ball in AAA and better hitting park than Birmingham. His defense probably held him back more than anything but in those over 2000 MiLB AB's he has a lifetime .302 batting average and the power has really come on with the Sox.
  5. It's not like Parkman was ever the 1st one on Soxtalk to think a prospect had no chance at being a productive major league player. Look how many think Rutherford will never make it or any of the Sox OF prospects.
  6. Eloy 2 HR's, and a double. , Moncada 3 walks. Cease 11 K's in 6,2 innings. Collins a triple and a walk, McCann hits a game tying 3 run HR. Bummer pitches great . Sox come back from late 3 run deficit to win 6-5.
  7. Oh you mean like .1 to .3 seconds on a play doesn't make a difference ever ? Give me a break.
  8. Well Mendick is faster and a run is a run. Unless game goes into extra innings why not pinch run there?
  9. Faster runner scores on a more shallow sac fly or semi wild pitch .did you forget how many outs there were ?
  10. A triple ? Did someone fall down and couldnt get up ?
  11. That just proves a man shouldn't do dishes.
  12. Eloy's commin' hide your heart , girl !
  13. Eh no a big deal for a catcher . Grandal goes through the same thing as do many others.
  14. Well McCann seems to be good with multiple run HR's. Last 3 were 2 grannies and a 3 run HR.
  15. Not one pitch in the zone if you want to believe game day yet one was called a strike.
  16. The bullpen has really imploded the 2nd half. We were getting a stretch of good starts from Nova and Lopez for a while but BP has been bad.
  17. The old after a mound visit 3 run HR.
  18. I don't believe it for a second. I think you are fooling yourself. They aren't that stupid no matter how much I criticize them. Giolito was good the 1st half but who else was there ? Nova was bad the 1st half ,Lopez was bad, Banuelos was bad then got injured. Covey was bad, Rodon was bad then got hurt. Giolito and a rookie just coming up wouldn't make anyone think you could compete along with retreads like Depaigne and Detwiler.
  19. Nah they knew they couldn't compete . They would have to be blind to the holes in the starting staff to think that. I think it's they have no interest in winning a bunch more games because of the draft pick.
  20. Anyone see that picture @whitesox.com of Cease and how he has the tip of index finger on the seam of the baseball. What pitch is he throwing there.? Does he throw all his pitches with that grip ? I would think not so perhaps that is easy for the opposition hitters to spot since it makes that finger stick out above the ball.
  21. Well I always thought that I was among the 1st here if not the 1st to start inquiring about Mercedes last year. David Ortiz and Edgar Martinez didn't become who they became until around the same age as Mercedes. A 1.033 OPS kind of speaks for itself and for a team hurting for power you'd think they could find some room for him if they just got rid of Castillo. It's just the last month of the season. I also edited/added to that post above.
  22. You're probably right but isn't that what rebuilding teams do ? After all, we acquired Tilson, Palka ,Cordell, Gillaspie (not an OF ), LaMarre and probably a few I am missing during the rebuild. Who is out there trying to identify Dominican talent ? Notice anything all those guys I mentioned have in common ?
  23. I'd like them to find the next Yordan Alvarez or Aristides Aquino like the Astros acquired Alvarez from the Dodgers . Aquino was non-tendered by the Reds and became a free agent on November 30, 2018. He re-signed a minor league deal on December 3, 2018. So there was a small window to acquire him at a time when we had no production in right field.
