  1. Pretty low scoring football game.
  2. I'm not sure we can make any predictions on Roberts peak OBP. Pitchers might find out very fast not to throw him strikes. He's going to see more sliders and curves away than Eloy did and that's saying something. He's going to be forced to take walks. The good thing is they cannot pitch around the whole lineup and that will help Robert . Maybe we're all being cautious in our appraisals . We aren't used to having a superstar type who does everything well and that could be Robert and also Moncada.
  3. I know I'm behind the actual game but the Sox broadcast for the bottom of the 4th with Detwiler pitching had no broadcasters. just sounds of the game.
  4. i have an MLB TV subscription for this season . Why can i get the game on my MLB app on my phone but not my MLB app on my TV ? i'm signed in to everything.
  5. So not only is Crawford "unfit" so is Connor Murphy and Ollie Maatta.
  6. More like instead of "you can put it on the board yes" to the Hawkism . "he kilt it . Mercy" !
  7. And this is why I argued so strongly in the off season not to sign Puig. There will always be a certain segment of society who marches to their own beat and in doing so puts himself above his team mates if he cannot conform to certain society norms. Now I have no idea the circumstances in which Puig got the virus but we do know that following rules was never his thing so self destructive behavior is part of his pattern. I will admit I had said recently to sign him thinking his talent could overshadow his personality shortcomings in such a short season. I was wrong. Must have been temporary insanity.
  8. Looks like our old buddy Nate Jones has made the Reds Opening Day roster. I wish him well though there's always another injury for him on the horizon.
  9. So Merkin estimated a combined 850ft. on the 2 HR's seems conservative . What do you all think and which one went farther ? Just short of the concourse is a mighty blast we don't often see . We've seen Eloy, Avi.Moncada and Thome all semi recently going extremely deep in CF, Moncads hit one to CF that was 452 ft last year that looked longer than Roberts. Eloy's went 462 to slightly left of center into a staircase. Abreu hit one 462 that looked like it was maybe 4 rows short of the concourse but wasn't pulled as much as Roberts. Eloy also had a 471 footer to straight away CF . My guess is the one Robert hit to CF was right around 430 and the one to left was 465 so right about 895 ft of HR's.
  10. How is Vaughn going to improve enough to be top 3 in the batting order by next year ? No minors to get reps, won't be getting any time with the Sox.
  11. If you got a tv wth a youtube app thats how I've been watching them . come on down to Pasadena u can watch here
  12. Yeah a lot of absenteeism still on the board here right now.Probably will pick up once the season starts if the Sox can manage a decent record in the 1st 10 games.
  13. Gio Gonzo pitched 3 2/3 gave up a run on oppo HR by Vaughn. Dunning went 2 2/3 gave up a run on a single by Leury, a swinging bunt hit by Timmy, walk and a wild pitch, they ended the inning on the wild pitch despite there being only 2 outs. Figured he threw enough pitches i suppose since he gave up 3 walks 4 hits and K'd 2. Colome, Marshall, Cordero, Fry ,Bummer and Heuer all pitched Game was over after 6 innings. Ended in a 1-1 tie.
  14. I'm right with you on the optimistic route. When I feel like arguing I know I've stuck up for Collins and Mazara very strongly. I've seen some smart hitting from Madrigal and Mazara in the scrimmages, I know spring training performance should be taken with a grain of salt but Collins has quietly shown tremendous power and a good eye for the strike zone. It's never a bad thing when a guy can be .100 higher in his OBP than his BA. We are all guilty of seeing good and bad spring performances and letting them reinforce how we feel about certain players despite what we know about SSS. Like I keep waiting for Eloy to show me a little more in summer camp while singing the praises of Lambert and Dunning. But yet when I post i only show my optimism and quietly wait for Mt. Eloy (that awful name given by Benetti ) to erupt .
  15. We all know there are factions here who like or dislike Collins, Madrigal, Lopez and Mazara . Those are probably the top 4 as far as many not thinking they will ever be any good. I believe in all 4. I don't like playing scout and judging on past performance as an indicator of future success for young players. Of course not all will ever reach their potential but at least I feel good about being in their corner.
  16. He went 3 last time so looking to improve on that but he is facing a tough lineup.
  17. Poor Vaughn facing some righties with nasty stuff has been too much for him today.
  18. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see him throwing that many sliders so if I am right I'm just happy he's getting in the work he needs.
  19. Nice play by Vaughn deep at 3rd and perfect 1 hopper to 1st.
  20. Got some Go Go Sox action from Madrigal and Renteria. ( Fox and Al Lopez circa 1959)
  21. Delmonico looking smooth on that last GB at 2B.
  22. Mine never works so i just use the youtube app on my RokuTV and that works fine. No idea why the mlb.tv one won't work. All i get is the Sox logo and no game.
  23. I don't know all the ins and outs of the CBA but in a season in which Covid is a big concern and finishing the season might be 50/50 maybe that would be a good enough reason to hold him out for about a month rather than 6 days and see how the season goes , monitor Covid cases throughout the league and if they are rising then you have worries about the season actually finishing . If it's going well then call him up. Maybe Covid is a good enough reason rather than needing to work on something. I'm not sure a player has ever won a grievance challenging the CBA and perhaps Madrigal would have a better chance in that scenario that there are no minor leagues but then again he Sox could use the reasoning that they didn't want to waste however much of his service time they would lose in a season that had a good chance to be lost without crowning a champion. Hopefully it doesn't all come to this and everything is cool between Madrigal and the Sox no matter how it plays out.
