White Sox looking for their 3rd straight win. Rodon looking to continue his recent stretch of good starts.

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) Abreu has been great lately... its pretty crazy. Hopefully he keeps that going next year - because this team is way more fun to watch when he is this guy. I'm not however going to do the whole revisionist history act... he was very pedestrian for a lot of the season: For a long time he was leading MLB in men left on base... he still ranks 144 out of 153 qualified batters or something. He left *hit ton of RBI's out there... and he still could reach 100. that's pretty crazy. Hopefully he carries it into the beginning of next year and beyond. Next year ? I thought we were going to rebuild ? Next year for another team perhaps .

Tim Anderson has improved his defense
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'll just go out on a limb and say Anderson is for real.He might hit more HR's then Alexei too. I think he D will also be on par if not better than Alexei . I'm not slighting Alexei in any way either. -
9/7 Tigers @ White Sox

Good job everyone bringing home the win. Off day tomorrow . -
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) I was hoping they'd give it one more crack before starting the rebuild but I guess everyone here gets what they want now. Should see a surge in attendance the next few years since this is what everyone wants to see. Yippee another 5 years of sub .500 baseball Isn't that what Dick just said Hahn said? If not this year than surely after next year ? S they still might give it a go next year . Probably will.

Anibal Sanchez has been bad this season. Q has been good. Sox should win and Q should get a W but Q is the King of Nodecisionland so ya' never know . Eaton should be back today after yesterday's off day and Kinsler is still out.

9/6/2016 White Sox v. Tigers

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) Is Omar for real? That was a nice win, but the fans deserved a clutch hit from Abreu or Frazier late to make it 4-0. At this point the only thing you can say about him is that he has a good eye and good contact skills. Those things never made him a good hitter before in the minors. It's great while it lasts though. Need a much bigger sample size in his case. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Is anyone else disappointed by Tim Anderson's stolen base total? If you were to average out his SB total to a 162 game season, he would have 15 SBs. For someone with 70+ speed, that is way too low in my opinion. I think Anderson should be raking up 30+ bags a year automatically. Also for someone who doesn't walk a lot, I think he needs to maximize the situation whenever he's on base. I know that this is his rookie season but I was expecting more from him on the basepaths. Overreaction over. He got one tonight. If you look at stealing bases as an art then it should be said there is a learning curve to it. Studying and remembering pitchers pick off moves takes time With enough time , the confidence builds. I also think they rather have him concentrating on hitting and defense. Next year probably see him running a lot more .

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) The reL reason is they are rebuilding next year and don't need him to pitch 160 innings. I So where did u get 160 from?

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) I think it was just stated: to retain his trade value if need be. That's just speculation. When did speculation become truth ?

Always get the feeling the Tigers could explode at any time . Gonzalez stamina might not last much longer . -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Sox should definitely resign Gonzalez in the off season He's not a free agent until 2018 . Pretty sure he has another arbitration year in 2017. Maybe he can be a late bloomer like Rich Hill . -

Gonzalez great so far . Great to see Coats and Narvaez combine for the 2nd run. Nothing at all in Narvaez'a minor league stats suggests he could hit like he has. Always had a good eye/ contact skills and continues to show that even against filthier stuff he's seeing now, Might be a while accepting that this is anything but a mirage. But hey keep it up Omar . -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) So Fulmer's innings total for the season ends at 103, a drop of nearly 50 innings compared to the previous year. I think they wanted him to avoid having any other bad starts so that the team trading for him will still look positively on how he finished. Pretty bogus reason by Hahn when its less than last year. Wonder what their real reason is.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) You cannot seriously think this was a marketing decision. You have to be trolling or trying to stir something up. Agreed. Marketing will not even touch rookies. They hardly focus on any players except to put their images in commercials.

Deepest condolences to you and yours.

The 2 Abreu homers went 430 and 465 ft. The 465 footer was the longest HR at Target field in the Stat-Cast era.

Puig hit a HR today and got 2 walks. His bat speed and short swing still look good. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/199538722/do...e-run-home-run/ Quote from Puig : "I'm very happy with the opportunity my teammates have given me, very thankful for their support and it motivates me to do better on the field," he said. "When you do your job, everything works out better. When you prepare, when you're in the dugout. Those are the things I didn't do before and now I'm doing them."

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) So since August 9 abreu is hitting .361, 400 obp and .588 slg. August 8th was an off day which abreu went to see his son in Miami. Last 30 it's.369 , .408 , .608 witn a 1.066 OPS . I don't know how long he knew his son was coming but that pre dates your August 8th date by a few days. Article on whitesox.com http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/199...ffensive-surge/ "Jose Abreu credits his return to the high level of offensive production he showed during his first two seasons with the White Sox to tireless work and help from three people in particular: hitting coach Todd Steverson and assistant hitting coach Greg Sparks -- who helped him with his approach and mechanics, and his son, Dariel, who he turned to for inspiration and family comfort. But Abreu made it very clear on Saturday that his mid-season struggles had nothing to do with his five-year-old son's physical absence. "I didn't hit because I didn't hit," said Abreu through interpreter Billy Russo. "His presence was huge for me from my offensive standpoint. But I don't want the people to think because I wasn't with him I wasn't performing well. "It's not his fault. It wasn't something that I couldn't perform my best. It's baseball. Having him here was important for me. It was a little extra motivation for me." "I've been using more of my hands and synchronized the movement of my hands with my eyes, chasing the ball. I have to give thanks to the hitting coach and Sparks because they were the ones who recognized my failures and found ways to fix it, and I think the results have been there."

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) The guy is on a crazy hot streak no doubt... I hope next year he doesn't take 4 months to get it going. Just part of the ebb and flow of a long season. I think it helped having his son around to see him play. Also not saying missing his son was the reason for not being as productive as usual earlier but it sure doesn't help. I'd like to see how he's hit since Morneau came aboard. I know it will be pretty good but also might not mean anything. But it does point out the obvious that a LH power bat should still be 1st on the Sox shopping ( as it's been and repeatedly failed upon) list this off season for the going for it again crowd. I know Abreu would probably hate playing DH but the Sox need to seriously consider it to have more options for that LH bat.Not sure why we haven't seen Morneau play the field at all. Running and sliding seems to be just as much a threat to injury as playing the field.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) I'd be happy with Puig if the Sox can get him and put hin in LF If not, perhaps a Josh Reddick. I would sign Austin Jackson for Center and have Charlie Tilson platoon depending on RH/LH starters. Eaton stays in RF Frazier has to come back Tim Anderson, obviously at SS Saladino is my 2nd baseman and I trade Lawrie. Abreu stays at first. Narvaez is our starting catcher absent some trade. DH is a tough call not knowing if Melky will be traded and whether Morneau even wants to come back. The bullpen is a joke. The Sox have to DFA Albers and trade Robertson for anything they can get for him. I would try to trade Lawrie, Robertson and Melky, DFA Albers and, Avi Garcia. Not sure if Shields will have trade value but f doesn't DFA him as well. He is just too erratic from start to start. Soxtalk lesson #1: Posting your ideas on the direction the team should take or players to keep or trade will always get negative responses even though very few others express their opinions to be scoffed upon. Personally I think what you said is fine because you only named 7 guys to keep around and only mentioned Narvaez absent a trade of some sort. That's less than 1/3 of the 25 man roster. That leaves 18 other spots to be filled and naming a few guys you'd keep and a few more you'd trade isn't some earth shattering revelation that needs to be called out. I assume you want to keep Sale, Q and Rodon and would prefer keeping Morneau ? Need another legit BP arm and we'd be missing a closer. Just not sure what you expect to get back for Robertson , Melky and Lawrie or if your plan includes trading a big piece like Sale or Q. I realize trying to do a complete plan you'd be called out even more and it's easy for those who want to rebuild to say trade your most desirable asset(s) for a s*** ton of talent . Constructive criticism seems to be a learned science that not many are capable.
