There's a point where if you're not commanding pitches or your FB is too straight bu high velocity you can miss barrels and still give up quality hits but he's got plenty of time to work on his command and fix things. He still hasnt thrown many innings since he started college. This year is the most innings he ever pitched and it just around 57 now . Still got a long way to go if anyones expecting him to be a starter.

I guess I just don't understand why you'd think he couldnt. He's young strong and a good hitter . Especially good for a young catcher . I might have more faith in him becoming a multiple year All Star player than anyone on the team. It's been a great development year for him.

Sox offense since the All-Star break
Taylor, McDougal , Vasil in the rotation seems like a long shot to me. They won't even give Taylor 2 inning relief appearances and even then he's not exactly lighting up MLB hitters. I think were pretty far from seeing those 3 in the rotation together during the regular season if ever. Pitching is so hard to predict when guys are ready.Schultz is still a baby with a balky knee and no innings. In my eyes they are exactly what they are right now. A bunch of youngs guys learning how to play in the big league and a roster still in flux. Every facet of the team needs to get much better just to reach . 500. Just a few months ago we were talking about 100 loses again this year and many people thinking they couldnt get to 50 wins. Im excited to see what happens next year but not excited enough to think any money gets spent outside of Robert, and knowing JR that isn't a given ,or picking up Perez' $10M option. Also not a given.

Bryse Wilson DFA, Bryan Hudson to IL, Gilbert and Cannon recalled per Fegan
I know but sometimes one (me) might think one had something to do with the other seeing as they got a player from us then we got one from them not too far apart. What was it maybe a week or 10 days apart ? Like ok you claimed our guy so we'll wait to see who you put on waivers and claim him. Like a trade without it being a trade. I know other teams could've claimed either guy so its not likely. But sneaky stuff goes on like phantom IL stints.

Sox offense since the All-Star break
Takes time Greg. Just set a modern day record for losses in 2024 and Jerry isnt paying for anything. Payroll was slashed to rock bottom after the team hit rock bottom. Hitters still have to prove theyre for real . Theyll be hitying the dreadful sophomore slump territory next year. the 1 good young starting pitcher they have, Shane Smith, needs a few more pitchers capable of under 4 ERA and pitching a full season. Thats why they constantly bring in innings eaters. It takes time for starting pitchers to build stamina. Our young catchers might've performed well because they shared catching duties. It's a grueling position and their 1st time through a grueling MLB season. A lot of people were calling for a 3 catcher roster so they could both play every day but its good that rookies get rest . Keeps them fresh . There's always alternatives ways to look at performance.

Sox offense since the All-Star break
No I dont think so. They might've been if Schultz and Hagen Smith didnt have setbacks but they had a lot of position prospects do pretty well. They just dont have a solid rotation or bullpen yet and its pretty doubtful that JR or Ishbia pays for significant upgrades. Sure people are speculating on it but my guess is it's not very likely. You're getting a little ahead of yourself here. Lots of work to do just to get to 75 wins.

Sox offense since the All-Star break
I like how the Sox handled them. They didn't just hand them jobs, they made them earn it. Plus they know they werent winning anything this year. No need to throw away service time. Wait until they knock down the door to the bigs or at least get to the point where you will benefit more from the coaching at the MLB level and feeding off the positive vibes and success of your peers. Plus you sure can't gripe about the results . 😉 Seems they did it the right way . Weird how one day you can say the Sox rush prospects and how that hurts them and next you say it took them too long but the Sox are still the same ole Sox. Guess we need more fans telling us the precise moments to bring guys up . Sounds like damned if you do, damned if you don't hater agenda. I dare anyone to find me anywhere else besides Soxtalk and the X verse where anyone argues the Sox screwed up keeping guys down on the farm this year too long. Anyone with any responsible podcast or media job usually doesnt make those kind of accusations.

I don't even recall anyone telling me where Bryan Hudson came from. Didnt the Sox just make a waiver claim on a Cubs 25 yr. infielder ? Could this be part of why Civale went to the Cubs ?

I don't think there are very many who remember Veeck as the owner . Might be around 10 who post with any regularity.

MLB tankathon
If I am recalling correctly C Montgomery was the # 22 pick . He still has to prove he's a good long term piece as do all the rookies but certainly quite a few of them have performed bettter than ANYONE could have predicted. Shane Smith and Mike Vasil were non factors in any discussion of top Sox rookies before the season started. Now you can put them in the same group with Montgomery , Teel , and Quero and perhaps Baldwin with a decent crop a year or 2 away + the mystery pick in the draft. also a bunch of pitchers will be coming back from TJ. Would be sweet if any of them can show promise also . And the Sox might get a decent pick exploring the Rule 5 draft again. They hit the jackpot this year .

The Pope won't let that happen and if he does it'll be for a good reason like no matter where they pick they'll end up with the best player 😁
