  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) Montas has had a lot of 5 inning starts, but the Sox have been very conservative with his pitch counts. If you go through his game logs, you'll see he's frequently being cut off around 90 pitches. With a little more development and another 15 to 20 pitches, going 6 innings a start shouldn't be a problem. All this reliever talk is way too premature, especially with the way he's been pitching since June. That being said, he's definitely the pitching prospect I'm trying to use in a package for a position player this offseason. With Erik Johnson ready for a shot again and Fulmer potentially a mid-season call-up next year, Montas provides more value to us as a trade chip. Montas threw 6 scoreless innings yesterday with 6 K's , just 2 hits , 3BB ,99 pitches.
  2. QUOTE (staxx @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 06:37 AM) Lifetime milb .288 hitter and improved each time he was promoted after getting the hang of it. He could very well be a .265-.275 hitter in the bigs. I've been saying ,280 and I'm being conservative. Post AS Game he is the highest hitter in the lineup at .319 and since his dreadful May and June he's at .303.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) Montas averages less than 5 IP per start. He'll be a reliever. Sometime I roll my eyes when reading assessments like this . It's just such an easy thing to say. Montas has come a long way from where he was when the Sox acquired him. The right thing to do is build his arm strength and if he follows the same developmental curve he's been on there are good things ahead . Trading him at this point would be foolish because return would be minimal. If he develops more he's a huge asset. Imagine Rodon, Fulmer , Montas , Eric Johnson , Sale , Quintana all being good and the leverage the Sox would have. 1 more year with all of them and see where they are. Failed starters can always be turned into relievers so lets keep them all starting.
  4. Sanchez 2-4 2 doubles 4 RBI .. Batting .241 . Really remarkable considering where he was. .240 barrier gone ,shooting for .250 . Saladino 3 hits 2 RBI . Back at .255. Flowers 2-4 3 RBI
  5. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) It's 17 games where they allowed an opponent three runs or less and lost. Mark The White Sox have scored three or fewer runs in 64 of 118 contests (54 percent) and are 17-47 in those games.
  6. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...ve-other-issues Of course they could. Would I like any starters traded ? No. How about prospects ? No let them develop . Who then who might bring someone decent back ? Robertson perhaps much like they did with Addison Reed only Robertson is not as cheap by a long shot. Not sure what the return might bring. Would be a bold thing to do but Sox might take a calculated risk that Jones can stay healthy and pitch effectively.
  7. Just so everyone can see what they said. I'm content with my assessment : Rather have seen the 4 rotating OF's to give Eaton more rest and keep Avi out of the OF more often but as long as he doesn't turn into Dunn 2.0 I'm good with them filling another need. I said earlier that I didn't trust Ventuna to sit LaRoche against LH pitching but he'll pretty much have to considering his age and badness against lefties. BTW La Roche means " the rock " in french . Bienvenue LaRoche smile.gif Also reminder to Hi8is . Dude you lost your bet with Andy the Clown.
  8. K I've had my coffee, apology's for the morning grumpiness.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 07:45 AM) I've caught myself calling Q Carlos several times. I think the Red Sox used to have a guy named Carlos Quintana. Yea they did, 1st baseman .
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) lol same I just woke up gimme a break .
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 07:12 AM) I couldn't get past Carlos Quintana. Maybe I should've given a 1000 word report on the game sabremetrically instead of 250 words of normal baseball talk.
  12. Jose Quintana actually received run support with a 5 run outburst in the 5th inning that had its share of bad play by the Angels and bad umpiring. Up until that point the Sox had hit a few barely foul rockets so when Jose Abreu hit another one down the left field line that was called foul it was just Sox luck continuing to be bad. But luckily instant replay showed the ball hit the line and the foul ball became a 2 RBI double since men were on 1st and 3rd . Saladino was allowed to score from 1st because he was running on the pitch and the umps determined he would 've scored given the jump he had and his speed. Quintana went 6 innings allowing 8 hits 2 walks 3 K's and 2 earned runs. He always had men on base but much like Samardzija the day before, he escaped a few jams. Other good things: Soto had a 2 strike bunt base hit after he had hit a barely foul rocket down the right field line. Angel's handling of the bunt wasn't the best either. Eaton stole a base. Avisail Garcia gunned down Giovatella attempting to stretch a single into a double. With the Sox ahead 6-2 Adam LaRoche hit a 2 run bomb to right center field and was 2-4. 3 Sox relievers ( Jones, Petricka , Jennings) pitched an inning apiece of no hit ball. Only a Jones walk sullied the 3 innings of near perfection. Final White Sox 8 Angels 2
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) Perhaps for the team but not for your blood pressure, Fathom. If I was going to root for them to lose I think I would have to simply avoid watching. That's kind of the point I was making. Those that want the higher draft pick want it all. Play good but lose and still get to whine about how bad they suck.
  14. Sorry all those rooting for the higher draft pick. If you want the Sox to suck the rest of the way why is it I see so many comments about how bad the Sox suck at everything, Wouldn't you be cheering when the Sox screw up ?
  15. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Why did they send Saladino home there? He was running on the pitch so it made it easy for the umps or review people to say he would 've scored.
  16. That hit the line should be fair.
  17. Angels playing bad this inning. Bobble at 1st base and Victorino overthrowing cut off man.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) Soto continues to produce yet dumbass Flowers still gets the nod everyday. It might help if the pitchers pitched well with Soto in there which they are not doing.
  19. Great bunt by Soto and follow up hit by Sanchez.
  20. Put Shark out there for the 6th but if someone gets on leading off pull him. His magic at can't last much longer .
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) yes - IF someone signs him by a certain date (sometime in June I think). Actually no they get a compensation pick between the 1st annd 2nd round . Don't know how they figure out the pick but it'll probably be in the low 30's. The team signing him gives up their 1st round pick and all other team just move up in order .
  22. If the contact play was on then to my eyes Sanchez scores . Anyone see it differently ?
  23. I really really really really hate to say this but Flowers and CERA just might be something to it.
  24. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) So how does it work? As long as the sox make a qualifying offer and he rejects the sox are compensated with the signing teams first round pick? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseba...on-system-works
  25. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) Anyone know the answer to my question? There are no more type A B or C free agents.
