2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) What are you talking about? This has been a great game for the officials. They can actually f***ing play instead of going possession for possession with a foul. Just saying Dakich is an idiot for saying that was a good charge call. The guy was totally moving. You know the defender can be moving and it can still be a charge, right?

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Seriously, complaining with how this game's been called? It's been a joke. Of all the questionable calls tonight, that was one of the more obvious ones. I've only been watching since there was 7:29 left, and this has been the case. Paul committed an obvious travel at the top of the key on that play (before he drew the foul) that wasn't called.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) I thought Truman was good. Pretty dense stuff though. That's probably as well as I could describe it at this point (I'm about 1/3 of the way through).

This was under the urbandictionary definition of "inception" and I felt the need to share it: "Its like a taco, inside a taco, within a taco bell, thats inside a KFC within a mall that is inside your dream!!!!! Mike "do you fancy inception?" Dave "you get the tacos, met me in KFC in 30mins" A super taco supreme"

Finally watched the last 5 episodes of Homeland...hot damn! Fantastic finish to the season. Shameless starts tonight, I'm incredibly pumped. Easily the best show on television, in my opinion.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
I was really amused by this blurb at the end of the Bulls-Magic recap: "Magic swingman Quentin Richardson was inactive, recovering from a chemical burn on his ankle after a self-treatment mishap in which he iced his sore ankle with Icy Hot and then applied ice to it. Rookie G DeAndre Liggins also didn't dress after having an allergic reaction to shellfish."

Great finish to DePaul-Pitt. IU should have won that game by at least 15. Way too many turnovers in the second half. But hey, I'll take a win.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) Oh yea, the benefits are supposed to be out of this world, not to mention the work atmosphere they have. I should've been a CS major instead of an IT major, because apparently if you're a CS major with an outgoing personality you can get a job anywhere. A couple of my roommates were CS majors. One is in the CS Ph.D. program at Carnegie Mellon, and one of this is a "visiting scholar" at our undergrad with a salaried position.

Supreme Court overrules Montana Law
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 07:55 AM) BTW, as the article you posted notes, it won't take long for a Federal Court to overturn this ruling on appeal. Wait, I thought this case was about a state law? On appeal they'd have to prove Citizens United applies (though, as you said, with this court that won't be too difficult).

Lake County State's Attorney Office
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 04:46 AM) Prosecutors should be looking to convict the right person, not just any person. But from a general lawyer perspective (and not just a prosecutor), you always want to be a "zealous advocate" for your client, just within, though sometimes damn close to, moral bounds.

What a terribly called game for both sides. I'll take a win, though. Without Sheehey, too.

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) that would be amazing. Somehow I doubt they do that since fraud seems too easy. I mean, wouldn't the bar code on the old tickets be invalidated or something?

Jones started, but Sheehey is out (apparently he's in Florida resting/rehabbing his leg). Pritch looked like he was straight up on that last bucket, but I can't be mad because of the no call on Watford's travel (when he switched pivot feet) on what turned out to be a 3-point play. This game has been all big runs. MSU started hot, then it was IU, then IU opened the half with a 10-0 run, now MSU is on a 13-0 run. Wow Appling has hops.

IU opens in East Lansing tonight. It'd be tough game anyway, but V3 and Sheehey are probably out so I'm not too confident.
