yeah...wondering if this will shift the Sox draft philosophy next year? Will they look at taking Turang first?...or the highest rated SS in the 2nd.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) I have a feeling they are looking at making a free agent splash this offseason. KC is not going to let Hosmer walk, but that could open Moustakas up to be swiped. 4 years/$80m seems reasonable for both sides, if not a little bit of a bargain for the Sox. Free agency isn't what it used to be, though. dh Davidson/Delmonico/Gillaspie (or Abreu and one of these guys plays the field) c Narvaez/Smith (perhaps a FA) 1b Abreu 2b Moncada ss Anderson 3b Moustakas lf Delmonico/Cordell/Polo cf Engel/Leury (possible FA) rf Avi Gotta like that infield, especially if Anderson figures it out. Sox don't have much at 3b really, if Burger mashes his way to the majors the DH spot can be used to get him AB's. Nah...I can't possibly see any FA acquisitions unless it's pitching fill-ins like a Holland or MGo type throwers...and maybe some bullpen fodder. I'd love to see Polo up...and I'd imagine Cordell will get a very long look too. Seems like a complete waste even considering Asche...the should just let him go at some point and quit wasting everyone's time.

hey...I don't mind losing...honestly...we expect it. But for the love of Christ...is it too much to ask to have a semblance of having your s*** together offensively and score a few runs?!?! goddamn... -
Dan Jennings Traded to TB for Casey Gillaspie

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) He has hit depths that Davidson hit 2 years ago. Interesting acquisition for a guy like Jennings. good analogy...and hopefully accurate. He's having a bad year...it happens. I still think a very very good move.... -

wow...hard to dislike anything about this move. That's a big boy too. Sox sure are stockpiling big bats... -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Because I said he was Miller or Chapman. Other pitchers pitched in the postseason other than Miller or Chapman. comp then for who what traded and for what? -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) We heard yesterday the likely value was a top 150ish guy or so... We basically got someone closer to top 350-400. But the whole goddamned board wants to keep rationalizing and justifying that guys with good stuff that have eras in the low 2's in a year where we're seeing the most home runs basically EVER are worth NOTHING. Bulls***. that's ok...let it out stud...we're here for ya *man hugs* -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Did you watch the playoffs last year? yeah...not sure what you're expecting back for a guy that's finally made a decent name for himself that's going to be a FA? Your expectations seem pretty unrealistic... -

well...he had a perfect chance to work on his suicides today...and honestly surprised he didn't do it. Forget who was up but it was second and 3rd with one out in a one run game. If you're going to pull that sac crap in early innings based on "learning game experiences"...why not suicides as well?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) I was commenting to a friend last night how as soon as I get down on Anderson, he'll do one of those rangy grabs where he just turns his hips and fires off a hard strike to first while running sideways like it's the easiest thing. At the plate, the ball really flies when he squares it up and his swing just looks quick. Of course, as of late he rarely squares it up and as another poster said, really seems to be going up there without a plan. But I've grown more confident that the underlying talent is there—not just athleticism, but baseball talent. I don't think any of us knows how much Steverson is working with the guy...but right now...it really doesn't appear to be all that much because he does go up to the plate without much of a plan. That swinging at first pitch at bat...ugh. Wtf is Steverson actually doing with him?
-
I don't think now is the time to really start wringing hands over him. Let's let him get back to 100% healthy...and go thru a full off season program and spring training. I'm willing to at least cut him a little slack for the time being.
-
yeah...I read his comments this morning and it does make sense...regardless of how infuriating it is to fans. Agree with shack above too about why not practice bunting for hits then too. But overall...for most of us who question it...I do think there's a method to his madness.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) Let's strive mightily to win and smite those heathen Cubs THIS! Look...I really don't have anything against the Cubs as a team...but good lord their fans simply the most most overbearing simpletons on the planet. I rarely get on facebook anymore (mostly because it's diluted with crap and turned into a marketing tool) but also due to the idiotic W flag crap with EVERY. SINGLE. GD GAME! Most I know went from "I wouldn't give you crap for a mediocre pitcher like Quintana"....to...."we've finally got a Cy Young type pitcher who's a Top 5 in baseball". So reverse standings be damned! BEAT THE s*** OUT OF THE CUBS any game you can!!! -
WOW! that was impressive glove work...
-
why aren't these guys looking to go the other way?!?...c'mon
-
Hawk can't see for crap anymore....
-
Keep it up Melk!!!! Good Lord is he on a tear....
-
because Hawk says? Meh...doesn't work for everybody unless you practice it on a daily basis. You can't just automatically choke up and be comfortable and expect better results.
-
Sox would be lucky to get ONE of Alcantara, Bader, Perez or O'Neill...and a low level prospect IMO. I understand you ask...but if I'm the Cards I'd laugh at wanting a combination of top 10 prospects. It's just extremely unlikely. Kelly and Reyes are pipedreams...
