Does it count if you don't remember? Naked+Running Past a Steak n Shake=Fun

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) I'm just saying. It seems the majority, which I am one, am satisfied with him on the bench. When you compare him to other bench players around the league, can't you agree that he'd be one of the best? I want to see Willie in a Sox uni next year. I think you are ultimately going to get your wish. I believe Harris will be with the Sox at least through ST. However, I don't think he's one of the best bench players in baseball. He has no versatility in the IF (where we need it most), and I don't think he can reach his "lofty potential," without getting a bulk of the starts, which will not be happening with the addition of Iguchi. That said, I think your argument echoes most pro-Willie posters here. I humbly disagree.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29068 What are you getting at? I'll give you three guesses as to what my vote was, and the first two don't count. EDIT: BTW, thanks to everyone that participated in the poll. I was actually quite suprised that pro-trade got as many votes as it did. Harris has legions of followers here at Soxtalk.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Well, as much as I dislike Farnsworth he has trade value for that very reason. I don't think Willie would be enough to net Farnsworth. I think you're underestimating Harris' trade value. Yes, that's right. I'm saying it. Especially if you look at that depth chart. Harris has shown flashes of life at the major leauge level and I'm sure there are teams (5-10+) that would love to give him a shot. His window of opportunity is rapidly closing on the Southside, but not in the MLB.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) A 100 mph fastball is overrated, especially without any location. "Why are you looking at me?" How many times was Koch hitting triple digits in a White Sox uniform? If you throw 100+mph, you're valuable.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Farnsworth is garbage. He's a headcase and all he does is drink all night and pitch with a hangover. I'd take on that drunken headcase anyday of the week and twice on Sundays. He's a change of scenary guy. Hell, he might even have his coming out party this year. Book it.

I'm gonna throw another out there. How about the Crybabies from the Northside? I just looked at their depth-chart and its rather grim at 2b. Todd Walker is the starter, followed by a prospect named Lewis. To me, it looks like they are one injury away from disaster at that position. Would Kenny be willing to work with Hendry? What could Harris bring in from the Northside.... Thoughts?

Although Harris doesn't seem like a LaRussa guy, I could easily invison a deal with the Redbirds. I'm not familiar with their farm system, but I could see a deal surrounding a hot pitching prospect or maybe a prospect and fan-favorite Bo Hart. Harris has a ton of trade value, and I'm being serious here. Although I am quite possibly Harris' biggest critic, I have to admit their would be a lot of teams (mostly NL) that would kill for a rangey, speedy second baseman. Would anyone else be satisfied with a top-notch pitching prospect or a proven utility infielder on a current MLB roster? I'd take either.

Stuppidist thing you have done involving alcohol?
AddisonStSox replied to Pale Hose Jon's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) So i returning from my Gf's with a bottle of soco which i was going to drink during the game tonight, and as i leave the stairwell it drops out of the hoody i was using to concel it and spills everywhere. Luckly i got it cleaned up before the RA came or else i would have gotten a 250 dollar fine. So my question is what is the stuppidist thing you have done with alcohol while under age. phew i think my heart beat just came back down to normal Are you under the influence now? Stuppidst ...and if anyone tells you they remember the stupidist thing they did while drunk, they are probably lying. -
I have to think this is pure specuation. I'm assuming members of the media put the signing of Iguchi and Ozzie's relationship with Urbina together and came up with this idea. Nothing but conjecture. This looks highly, highly unlikely.

About Ole Miss new football coach
AddisonStSox replied to Palehosefan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Great find hose! I love those firey coaches. If there were more coaches like him in football, these gangster players might actually show up to class and play as a team on Saturdays. Great hire for Ole Miss. -
That's where he wanted to go. That's where he ended up. Good for him. Now, what do the Marlins do with salary?

Sun Times article on Iguchi, fans, & 2005 lineup!
AddisonStSox replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) I don't know how many times I need to repeat this. Cooper agrees with me. Use the off-days to extend EL-D's rest periods & skip some of his starts. This can be done while still for the most part keeping him #3 in the rotation following Garcia. Ozzie doesn't agree with us. He takes the position that 1-5 is so strong individually there is no need to skip starts. So he has a straight 1-5 every 5th day schedule in mind. Off days would just extend rest to the pitcher who happened to be next in line to pitch after that off day. Ozzie's plan will most likely give EL-D 5 more starts than Cooper's throughout the season. Pushing him into the 30+ start range. It will also drop Marky B & Freddy G down to the 210-220 ip range. So I guess you could say they are protecting their longest & most expensive pitching investments at the expense of their cheapest. My hope is that Cooper can persuade Ozzie to rest EL-D more often than the rest. What a great post. My sentiments exactly. Well said. As for the lineup, Rowand isn't the typical #2 hitter. Uribe isn't the typical #2 hitter. I don't think either of those guys are best suited to bat in the two hole. Let Iguchi battle for it in ST and if he proves to do the right things and move Podsednik over on the bunt, or hit behind the runner, or anything else, he gets it. My projected opening day lineup (for better or worse). -Podsednik -Iguchi -Dye -Konerko -Everett -Rowand -Pierzynski -Uribe -Crede -
*Official* College Basketball Thread
AddisonStSox replied to Heads22's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ye-ha! A steak-busting game only a few hours away. Watch for the guards to go off in this game...dropping bombs on ya'll. Its going to be intense. If the streak ends today, I know we lost to a formidable opponent. Oskee-Wow-Wow! -
This thread is downright goofy. If Mags was inked to that contract, you wouldn't see anything close to the current core of guys. You can't just plug that variable back into the equation. It can't happen.

Something to consider, if the Nationals don't promise a starting job, no one will. The Nationals, supposedly the only team actively pursuing Larkin, have a solid infield with Castilla, Guzman, Vido, Wilkerson (1B? Johnson?). Larkin ain't going to get the starting job. If he wants to play bad enough, he's going to have to take whatever team offers him the most dough to play as a backup. He can wait for an injury, or maybe sign later in the season, but he ain't going to get a guarnteed starting job from ST. EDIT: Book it.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I think the perception of Kazuo's season is unfair. His numbers were not bad at all. Even if you want to talk D, it's hard to compare 2nd and ss. IF you take a look at Matsui's numbers, we should be happy to take those. My only memory of Kaz's first season is taking the first MLB pitch to straight-away center for a solo bomb. It was awesome. I took him in my fantasy league in the 11th round. EDIT: Besides fellas, we inked Iguchi to a deal 33% of what he was asking. Kenny negotiated the hell out of this. Fantastic signing.

Hats off to all the good folks at Soxtalk. It beats the hell out of the alternative. The opposition can't compare; its neither friendly, nor enjoyable. The guys running this site do one heck of a job.
-
Well, this begs the question... Will Iguchi be appearing in a banner near you anytime soon?

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Aw man. You're the best Goldy. I can't thank you enough!

I'm not allowing any posts on the matter. We have all been at each other's throats about Willie and I want to see some concrete numbers. Completely objective. Yes or no. Thanks everyone.
