  1. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) I wasn't there. Either someone pulled you're leg or there's another Ian out there. I'm the other Ian. Ross and I went to the Q & A together.
  2. QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Whites not in the top 15 I dont know how you can think hes going to be drafted so high You are correct sir. I have White at 16 on my draft board and I have a feeling a lot of the Draft specialists have him hovering around 15 as well. White is a guy who can lead the number one team in the country, win a Heisman, and go undrafted. There are many different things to consider when looking at a professional quarterback. White has average accuracy, below average arm strength and two bum knees. Look for White to go somewhere in the fifth or sixth rounds, if at all.
  3. Jeez, Steff must be paying off these staff reporters. She got a lot of run in that article. There will be no living with her after this.
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Anybody else think that Illinois will be in big trouble if they ever meet a refereeing crew that calls tick tack fouls? That would most likely stop their transition oppurtunities, which is the best part of their game. Sour grapes. This is the best team in the country until proven otherwise. You've just witnessed it today. Oskee-Wow-Wow
  5. Well, I just returned from the fest, already wearing my Sox Pride wristband. Wow. What a good time. Growing up on the Northside, I've never seen that many die-hard Sox fans gathered together at one time; it was really great to see. There were a lot of friendly faces and great Sox gear. Random Thoughts... 1. It was great bumping into some of the fine posters here at Soxtalk. Beastly and I watched the Kenny/Ozzie/Hawk Q & A together, then I met Steff, Jason, and Aboz. It was a pleasure meeting all of you. 2. Great turnout. Saturday's Soxfest was sold out and that ain't no joke; the place was packed. I wouldn't be surprised if that broke some kind of Soxfest attendance record. 3. The autograph signings were a blast. This, my first Soxfest, I only got Pierzynski's, Rowand's and (get this) Bo Jackson's autographs. I've learned if we really want those autographs, you basically have to forfeit the Seminars; those lines are awfully long. 4. I met up with Aaron Rowand outside Houlihan's for a few minutes. We talked about his new contract and how his wife didn't have to work anymore, Ozzie, and all things Sox. Aaron was a genuinely nice guy and took a considerable amount of his time to speak with me. Dude has some pipes! 5. The Q & A session was very upbeat and positive. Both Steff and Aboz behaved themselves and Kenny was flabbergasted by all the love. He couldn't believe how much praise he was receiving, it was hysterical. As expected, Kenny didn't hint that there would be any more moves, but instead, was very happy with the moves he has already made and wanted to focus on those. Ozzie was hysterical and gave some token Ozzie lines. In 2005, he will still "makee da lineup." Hawk was great and answered a question on a "certain former Chicago radio host's" recent departure. Hawk was very happy and thought it was time to end his trail of lies. I wish I had some breaking news to report, but things were pretty uneventful. All in all, it was a first-class experience. The posters at Soxtalk were great in person, Beastly and I had a good time at the Q & A and it was a great way to interact with other Sox fans. I couldn't recommend Soxfest any more.
  6. I have a sweet one from AOL. If you're a member, you have to poke around the MLB Buddy Icons. Its from last year, but its the best I've ever seen.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) Here's the story; Love this guy! Pierzynski is going to be a fun guy to have around this summer. He'll be a fan favorite in no time. I can't wait to trot Pierzynski out there against the crybabies from the Northside.
  8. Alright folks, I'm heading out the door. I'll make sure to report back on Soxfest #1 when I'm home. Ye-ha!!! EDIT: I'm putting the Soxtalk ID on my backpack if anyone is interested in chatting. Hope to see ya there!
  9. the trimmer Carl Everett Wow. That's really encouraging. We all know Frank deserves to be a first ballot Hall of Famer, but in the short term, I'll take a healthy and fit Jurassic. Here's hoping both Frank and Jurassic play large roles in the success of the 2005 Chicago White Sox.
  10. ONE TICKET STILL AVAILABLE Last Chance...must PM me before 10:00 AM tomorrow if interested.
  11. Stunned. Leinart, the sure-fire #1 pick, passed on going pro to stick around one more year to go after not only his third consecutive National Championship (a feat the likes of which have never been seen) but also a second Heisman. Hats off to Mr. Leinart. I simply can not find fault in a kid's decision to pass up millions of dollars to stay in school, show loyalty, and make history. I wish there were more collegiate athletes like Matt. Here's hoping he doesn't get injured and earns the poll position in 2006. Class act.
  12. Well, for those of you playing at home, the answer was Tommy Maddox. In a million guesses, I never would have come up with that. In 1992, the Broncos selected Tommy Maddox in the first round out of UCLA. I wouldn't be suprised to see Mr. Maddox in a Bear uniform next season.
  13. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Another trade I would make would be Konerko, Garland, Rowand and Sweeney to Texas for Alfonso Soriano Mark Teixeira Micheal Young Stunning.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) I agree, I would want no part of this trade. Take a look at those two salaries. Nasty. A move like that would bury the Sox.
  15. Take a shot at the last Bronco QB taken in the first round.
  16. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) LOL, that's not bad for not being able to remember it real well. Yes, Steve Sewell, with the 26th overall pick in the draft, out of OU in 1985. Wow. Shot in the dark. I remember it being in the mid-80s because I looked this up not too long ago. I, too, was interested in seeing the last Bronco RB taken in the first round. Sewell. I can't believe I remembered that. Me Draft nerd.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Someone would take Williams just for the value. Also, I doubt Denver takes Ronnie Brown in the first round. That just goes completely against their thinking in the draft. Mike Shanahan and the Broncos almost always get a running back in atleast the 2nd round, and sometimes later, because almost all running backs can succeed in that system, so taking one in the first round is a waste. BTW, just a little bit of trivia...anyone know the last time Denver DID take a running back in the first round(without looking it up...cuz I had to )? Aw jeez, I really should know this. I think the year was 1985, but the name escapes me at this point. Was it someone like Sewell from OU?
  18. Histarical Movie. Brilliant. I absolutely loved it. "What the flip was Grandma doing at the dunes!?"
  19. ONE SATURDAY SOXFEST TICKET AVAILABLE If interested, please PM me as soon as possible.
  20. QUOTE(shakes @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) I know its early, before the all star games and combines, but some of these just do not make sense. Have you found any other early projections? Anyone else think the Bears will trade down? The BEST Mock Draft Site, hands down. Football's Future EDIT: I should have my first mock draft of the season up on Monday; I'm still going over team needs and its taking longer than I expected.
  21. ONE SATURDAY SOXFEST TICKET FOR SALE First PM gets the ticket. We'll meet up around the ticket office. Remember, Saturday is sold out.
  22. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) I need tickets for saturday (2)...whose got em? PM me... If you are going up friday night...we can meet you and pay you for the tickets. I'll include something special if u have them cuz I doubt we can get them :headshake EDIT: ALSO...for the people who want to meet up with me and haven't given me a PM back...please do.
