  1. Does anyone else get the feeling Ross Gload has a s*** attitude? This is something that's been bugging me since last year.
  2. ...could listen to Boston's "Peace of Mind" all day long.
  3. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) isiah thomas visits iu campus "Sorry, Zeke, we can't give you a $200,000,000 payroll here."
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) i second that ...this is priceless, by the way. Well done. A licky boom boom down.
  5. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) "Ten Ton Hammer" - Machine Head "Crusher Destroyer" - Mastodon Cali, I could rattle off about thirty hardcore/metal songs...this is getting hard to resist, I'm sure you could as well. Just for you, so this isn't lost completely: "Lip Gloss and Black" Atreyu "Meaning In Tragedy" As I Lay Dying Ok, now for my serious contribution: Frankie Laine's theme from "Rawhide"
  6. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) It is becoming his job to lose.... he's having an impressive (though still short) spring so far Spot on. It certainly appears his job to lose; thing is, I think losing the job would mean carrying only one left-hander. An addition by subtraction...nay, an addition by omission.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) And neither did Kevin Walker last season, but Ozzie really wants to have two lefties in the bullpen. You're right though, I don't want any pitchers who aren't MLB caliber on the roster just cause they throw lefty. You can carry five lefties if you want, but, if only one has proven he can consistently get out major league talent, the other four are useless. I realize we are in a good spot if this is our chief-concern, but, I'm just not on-board for carrying the second lefty if he is simply a glorified pitching machine. It's early and there's still hope that one of these "pitchers" can catch fire and put it all together, but, I have confidence in Williams, Cooper, Guillen, etc. that they won't carry the second lefty just for the sake of having that second lefty. If all else fails, just enter the season with Cotts and take it from there...don't force this.
  8. Smokescreen. This left-handed "pitching" competition has been an absolute crock. Unless one of these "pitchers" shows they can consistently get out major-league hitters, they have no place on a defending World Championship roster.
  9. I like when people get worked up over the years. It could have been a 68-year deal and it wouldn't have mattered.
  10. Raiders cut QB Kerry Collins. The Ravens are believed to be the "front-runners," that is, if you consider Collins a catch.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) The same number of postseason games they won. They seemed to come out of the gates all right...something to the tune of 13 consecutive wins. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
  12. I can't quite recall, someone help me. How many pre-season games did the Colts win this season?
  13. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) I think if they're worth holding in a pen for three years, they're worth at least being told why they're being held for so long - and given some degree of legal access. This is America, damnit. That stuff doesn't happen. You left-wing nut-job. /green This is just one of those situations where I can't help but disagree with what my president--who, by the way, is from my own party--and his staff is trying to force-feed me with. How is this scenario even possible?
  14. What's happening in Gitmo is simply outrageous. It has been abhorrent on every level. When you take an interrogation situation, understaff it in the extreme, have untrained MPs conducting the majority of interrogation and interrogation procedures instead of trained CIA officials and the like, and have the lower-level grunts--for all intents and purposes--making moral and SOP decisions, what do you think is going to happen? Sorry. It's not just naughty, it's a felony.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Then you get the guys at Baseball prospectus who come up with crap like this 2006 Rookies: 2003 first-round pick Brian Anderson is lined up to take over center field from the departed Aaron Rowand, and while he’s nowhere near the defensive whiz that Rowand is, he should be an immediate doppelganger of Rowand at the plate, and PECOTA agrees. If for some reason he fails, Jerry Owens could be waiting in the wings. Now where did BP get their goofy thoughts from? Some of their research is ok, and some of their research is a million miles off. Have they ever seen BA play defense, or are they just using some abacus to tell them how BA plays. In defense of that author, while Anderson may, in fact, be a near clone--or ghostly reminder, whichever you prefer :rolly --of Rowand at the plate, he does project to be a defensive downgrade in the immediate future. However, your point remains.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) Rowand was thought of as a corner outfielder when he was coming up with the Sox. They didn't feel that he had the chops to cut it in CF. Jeremy Reed's ceiling was supposed to be Mark Kotsay in CF, which is pretty good, but he's not a rangy guy. He's a guy, like Rowand, who gets good reads on balls, but has a world class arm. The Sox liked Anderson's D better than that of Reed. Anderson is better than Rowand, defensively, at the same stage of development. Whether he continues to grow like Rowand did remains to be seen, but he has the tools to be a better defeder. That's Logic 101, kids. Well done, chort.
  17. I'm ready for Anderson Gomes and Bucky. If we're not playing to win these games, and these left-handed "pitchers" continue to wet themselves, let's at least take a look at some of the new faces in the organization.
  18. All kidding aside, Uribe needs to be here for awhile. He's one of the better defensive shortstops in all of baseball, he's obviously solidified himself a place in the clubhouse, he's a relative bargin at his position, and he's a veteran of this "Ozzieball," "smallball," etc. approach. If Valido is the shortstop of the future, Uribe needs to be here until that time. Bringing in anyone else to fill that position until we can fill it from within the farm system would be a mistake. Uribe is the guy.
  19. Brother's. Nine. Call me, Krush. Sobriety just ain't for me on unofficial...crashed out at 4:00PM, time to get back out there.
  20. Incredible. Although I'm not an NBA fan, this is about as good as professional/Bulls baseketball gets. This almost reminds you of past Bulls squads. Very enjoyable.
