Could Chicago host the 2016 games?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) God, I hope not. Ding. Ding. Ding. I'm with you, my man. -
To be honest, I don't quite understand why people are surprised to see things unfold like this. Frank Thomas has always been this way...from day one. Now, I know Steff tells me otherwise, and, I really do tend to believe her, but, Frank has seemingly gone out of his way to alienate himself from the White Sox fan base from the get-go. Now, I can't quite pinpoint the when and where, but, for awhile there, it finally seemed to turn around. Around the 2000 season, Frank seemed to have finally endeared himself to this fan base. I don't know if that has anything to do with the Sox front-office letting off Frank about his adopting a "leadership" role, but, Frank finally seemed to come around. It really is disappointing to see things unfold like this here at the end, but, I'm genuinely not surprised. He has been an egotistical prick since his major-league call-up. The Frank Lovefest that happened here again around 2004 would have to be the exception throughout the course of his career. Also, the bad relationship between Frank and Kenny has been known for quite some time; these two have never seen eye-to-eye, and, I'm sure Frank could have had his wish to be traded come to fruition if Kenny could have found the right package. As far as I know, the Thome move was not the first in an attempt to finally rid this team, this clubhouse, of Frank Thomas. Disappointing? Yes. Shocking? No. Frank and his time with the Sox is now full-circle. He came into this organization alienating himself from the fan base, from his teammates, from the Sox brass--the noted exception would have to be, of course, Jerry--and that is how he is going to leave it. Believe it or not, Frank, you STILL are not above the team-concept in baseball. It looked like you understood that for awhile there, but, your true colors have shown themselves once again.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) So if Young did score that lowly...do you still draft him if you're Tennessee or someone else up there? Who's to say Tennessee will take him right now? Although the thinking was McNair would have a year or two to groom his heir apparent, the Tennessee brass is far from sold. If this score is true, then I imagine Cutler will merit even more consideration. Cutler must have been some third-world missionary in a past life. No one has this much luck. BTW, someone do me a favor and try Scott's website. Let me know if anyone is having big problems with it. www.nfldraftcountdown.com -
I'm going to open it up for a new question: Anyone order Pizza Hut? This is Chicago, after all.

It's not going to be the same without those two patrolling the court. I don't think it's going to fully sink in until next season. -
This is a no-brainer: Man Hands. /suchaprick

QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Harder to trade a guy two years older Harder to want to lock up a guy at 3X years of age than a 26-year-old as well. Thanks for the rings. Pitch your ass off in 2006. Best of luck in the future.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) Was the house off of Rainbow road? Yes sir.
-
Has anyone else done the Cuba Road experiement out in Barrington? We did it with a group of nine or ten of us back in high school; although the house we walked up on was pretty creepy, we hung out in it for awhile and I can't say we saw or felt anything out of the ordinary. I'm pretty sure it was just a place local high school kids go and drink...there was a couch in there, some tables, etc.

Last year, the guys that lived next to me were from Alton, Illinois and they always told us that their claim-to-fame was being the most haunted location in either Illinois, or, the entire country, I forget which one. That is a very neat site, for sure.

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) All I know is if you read what they're saying during the game, you'd think he's a Hall of Famer in the making. Going up against the other teams big man and getting the ball spiked in your face, as well as fouling a poor 3 pt shooter, isn't exactly playing smart basketball. BTW, Marcus Williams has 15 pts, 9 assists, and 6 rebs.....AT THE HALF! Hardly out of control. He's young, he's clearly learning and has much more learning to do, but, out of control? Nope. -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Definitely have to say 2006. While I loved Carnell Williams from the beginning, and Ronnie is going to be very good, and I think Benson will be ok in time. I love DeAngelo Williams similarly to Carnell of last year, and Bush is in a league of his own. I also like White about as much as I liked Ronnie Brown. Basically here's my breakdown. Bush > Benson DeAngelo = Carnell White = Ronnie But the depth of the 2006 class to me sets it apart. I really like guys like Calhoun, Maurice Drew, Maroney, Addai, and Norwood. The only guys from 2005 that I would have put in the same class of those guys are Arrington and Shelton. Good topic. Well done. That's about word-for-word what I was thinking. All signs point towards 2006 being the better of the two years...another reason why that Bears' first-rounder last year was so controversial. It's all about depth in 06'. It's the depth that really separates the two years. With guys like Drew and Calhoun--two guys I honestly, in my heart of hearts, feel would have competed for the Heisman in 2006--Maroney, Addai and Norwood, they just blow the 05' second-tier guys out of the water. 2006 projects as Bush being the first RB off the board, followed by White and Williams, while 2005 just really doesn't compare with Ronnie Brown being the first off the board, Benson, a guy that put a ton of mileage on those legs at Texas, and Williams, whose career should match that of both White and DeAngelo Williams. I'm thinking Packers in round three for Calhoun and Drew should find a home somewhere in the second round. It's just really one of the deeper classes in recent memory. Well put, man. Anyone want to make a case for 2005?

We'll give it a try. Hear something related to the draft? The free agent corps? Post it here.

Coming out of the college game, which running back class did you like more, the class of 2005--Brown, Benson, Williams, etc.--or 2006--Bush, White, Williams, and company?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) You know what part of that blurb should scare Cub fans the most? How bad do things have to be for you to actually write that the news is better for Kerry Wood? That is priceless, Balta. Well done.
