  1. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Olivo did not leave on bad terms. I don't consider crying because you don't want to go leaving on bad terms. Maybe to you it is, but not me. He was also mad when he got to Seattle because he thought he was supposed to be our future catcher. It wasn't only tears, but angryness from him. I don't know how he feels now because I stopped paying attention to his career after he couldn't get PT from Seattle.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) f*** Alomar then. Point being more players have left here on good terms than bad and Frank doesn't mention the players that left on good terms. He would like to point out only the players that left on bad terms because that suits his argument. You can't say "f*** him then." It just doesn't work that way. If it were just 1 or 2 players who've had a problem with the organization, it would be fine and dandy, but this organization is known to have rocky relationships and breakups. Also, don't forget Curt Schilling as he's said he'd never pitch for the Chicago White Sox. You might like the players, but the players do have alot of weight around the league, especially the star players. To simply dismiss any player who says they dislike the way the franchise handles things is ignorant IMO.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) If I cared about the olympics I wouldn't care about all that stuff but I don't so I do. I ask this question, if everyone is such a sports fan, why don't you care about sports on the ultimate level(worldwide competition)? I never got that.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Nope, never heard he was pissed. Never heard Robin was pissed and I never heard R. Alomar was pissed or called KW a liar. I think all of these are mad up accusations until I get to see some proof. I honestly don't remember with Robin, but I remember Olivo and Alomar. Alomar especially after he left the first time and signed with the D-Backs. He was really discontent. That's not made up.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Roberto Alomar and Miguel Olivo left on awful terms. Don't you remember Alomar pretty much calling KW a liar. I remember Alomar as well not being fond of KW.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) I don't recall Robin leaving on bad terms. I do recall a bunch of players leaving on good terms as well. Carl Everett, Aaron Rowand, Miguel Olivo, Greg Walker, Roberto Alomar, and Sandy Alomar Jr. just to name a few. Why did he not mention them? I thought Olivo was pissed when he found out he had been traded and was also sad too. I don't know if I'd call that leaving on good terms.
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) What does that asterisk represent? Any other band.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Good stuff. The crowd was definitely great today. This will be a big momentum booster going into a place like Purdue. It'll make that game seem that much easier. 17 wins is the magic number. Purdue should already be an easy team. You shouldn't need momentum to beat them if you're a deserving tournament team. And yes, I've factored in that Purdue is your biggest rival.
  9. Do all of you guys drive to downtown or something? I would love to have the olympics here. It would be a great thing for the city. Holding the Olympic Games here alone pays for costs and then some. I doubt the Metra schedule changes if the Olympic games are held here. Same with CTA. In fact, they'll probably run more frequent. I'm sure most of you guys take public transportation anyway. I say quit the complaing and have a good time watching a bunch of sports.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) :banghead He didn't? He basically called them dishonest and unloyal to all players they deal with. How much more of an attack can you get? He did not "name call", but he did attack an insult the organization. I don't know how you can possibly say that. Did he say anything that's not true? Or did he hit too close to home for you guys? What he has said is pretty true if you look back over the years. Ozzie, Robin, Maggs, now him.
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Has the quote from KW about practicing "no comment" and being a more respectful organization shown up yet? Brand New > *
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) I wouldn't count on this particular controversy to fester throughout Spring Training. If Thomas is smart, he'll respond to these latest comments with a simple suggestion of "taking the high road;" among other variations which avoid the issue. If he quits right here, Williams looks foolish. He already does to many. No one should be surprised if people defend Williams. Fans often are void of objection when criticizing their own team. I think taking the high-road very well could happen. He'll say something like, "I just stated my opinions the White Sox. I have nothing to say to Kenny Williams nor do I owe him a comment. Thank you." Or he could go balls in and say, "Look at how they handled the Magglio situation last year. Ask Scott Eyre if he's happy with the White Sox as an organization."
  13. I'm pretty sure some players do like Frank. Uribe was friends with Thomas and Uribe even learned the leg kick from Thomas. I personally don't care about this pissing contest between Thomas and KW. It's going to come down to whoever can throw the lowest blow. You know Billy Beane's got to love it since he dislikes KW.
  14. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) It can't be your last team, you've still got to get beat in my league. That offense is a monster, and the pitching is pretty good. Lol, I'm going to handle you. For that team, we we're just bored in the computer lab so we decided to make a league and have a draft then and there.
  15. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I'm not the biggest Mardy Collins fan, he reminds me alot of Jamal Crawford minus the attitude. Yes he's 6'6, and plays PG, but I'm not sure if he can make the transition to the PG on the pro leve, especially staying in front of the quicker PG's. I see him as a 2/3 at the next level, and his shooting touch needs work. The upside is that he's a solid passer and a pretty smart player, just not sure where he's going to play. Shooting Guard. At 6'6, unless he was Magic Johnson, SG is the position he'll play.
  16. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) This is actually more discouraging news about Lance Broadway than encouraging news about Joe Borchard. I agree. Also, I think Gload has the inside job on the last spot.
  17. Ozzie. Contreras should get it the day of his starts.
  18. I didn't like 1 that much. It's a TBS type movie. 2 was much better though.
  19. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) what kind of league is that? how many teams? Thats STACKED, like 6 teams in the league or something? Yep.
  20. Last team for sure: For hitting stats are: Runs, Hits, RBI's, Homers, and SB. For pitchers: IP, Walks, Saves, Runs, HR's, Wins and K's.
  21. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) This is the last time that I'll post in this thread. I received a PM this morning from Kyle about the "Feelgood STFU Tour" in which me and Steff are getting pwned by Rock? I guess that Kyle thought that I was Rock, as he asked me how it felt to pwn both Steff and Hammerhead in two days time. Not that we weren't asked to stop talking about this, but... 1) Is there another person on this site who watched and actually understood the Kirk Hinrich interview, or am I on my own f***ing planet over here? Did Kirk not say point blank tht Tyson is the team MVP? He didn't preface it with jack s***. He was merely asked to comment on Tyson's performance. This is pretty f***ing far from rocket science or brain surgery. Remember, Rock said that Brand owned Tyson in the Clippers game, when in reality, Tyson shut him down when they were matched up against one another. Then he continued to insist that he watched the game. If you trust anything that he says, then you don't read these here threads very often. 2) Yes, I would take Bruce over Lebron in a heartbeat. If you understand what I type on here, you'd know by now that I like big scoring SGs/SFs who can get themselves high percentage shots. I have praised Lebron on more than one occasion. Also, it is impossible to put too much stock into defense. That's like saying that you have too much pitching in baseball. It doesn't make any f***ing sense. 3) Lots of people used to come out of the woodwork to talk s*** about Tyson, many times in direct response to something I would say. You people know who you are. All along, I have maintained that he is going to be something special. Everyone else was calling him a bust. So please, if you think I am being "childish and immature" about anything Tyson-related, then get the f*** outta here. I don't think people like the fact that I get to have the last laugh here, but whatever. In the end, I guess that I'm just irritated by piss-poor basketball talk. I'm not looking to make enemies. You think that I have problems with people who know their basketball (qwerty, DBAHO, Jason, Willie, Zoom, etc)? Nope. Never have, never will. And if I have so many enemies, how come I have never received even one warning on here in two years time? You would think that at least one admin would dislike me, yeah? I suppose that I just get special treatment. Dude, shutup already. There's alot of people on here who different opinions on things and you seem to think that anyone who doesn't agree with you is just flat out wrong. There are other people who disagree with each other and don't have to call each other names or talk s*** or take small little jabs at like you do. You're not the "scwab" of basketball which is how you perceive yourself to be. Who even knows if you played organized basketball in your life and I'm not talking about park leagues. You overrate players like Tyson Chandler and you call people dumbasses for not agreeing with you. Funny how you bring up what Kirk said about Tyson(I admit I did not watch the interview), but when I told you what Skiles said about Gordon, you were so quick to dismiss Skiles' opinion and saying he must not be watching the game when he's the damn coach. You're a hypocrite and you like to talk too much s*** to people who don't share your opinions. Change your sig to "hammerhead johnson - On Tyson's cock and hypocritical since the day he was born".
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) I didn't say he wasn't a good guy. I just hate his game. And the thing that really pisses me off is he acts as if he doesn't have to get better or make any improvements. He comes to every season with the same crap. Well that's just the reason why I root for him. Also the way he had to come up is a story in itself that makes me want to cheer for him.
  23. He's always been a great guy from what I've seen on tv. Hope it all goes well.
