QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Bulls next games through Jan 8: Pacers @ Raptors Clippers 76ers @ Wizards @ Knicks @ Pistons Bucks Nets Cavs Raptors @ Nets @ 76ers Celtics . . . The Bulls record after this string of games might be pretty scary. But you know they'll blow games they shouldn't. It's just a matter of which ones.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Langford is a rare exception since he reached out to Weber initially (rather than vice versa), but Illinois should never look out of state unless it's eastern Missouri or Indiana. There's just no reason to. Disagreed. Heck, I can't think of many times where the #1 recruits even come out of Illinois. There was Rose, though Gordon and Mayo all switched. I think you go where ever you need to to get the recruit you need.

I wouldn't care if the other team ran up the score because it's my fault for not stopping them. Everything you do, you should always be full throttle. Especially in sports. You shouldn't say, "slow down".

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) Wasn't part of brad's drunken fight with Darrell about not ever going into duel/being whipped/frustration with Casey? Yes. Usually it's Darrell who starts things, but Brad was drunk and beligerent. He started talking about Darrell is afraid, he could demolish Darrell, he never goes into duels, how he would whoop him like his father and Darrell, though sober, had enough. Brad was slipping all over the place, and Darrell connected on a haymaker.

White Sox listening to offers for Buehrle
Well it would stink, but at the same time, it would make things a whole lot easier. Resign Freddy or get Andrew Miller or take a flyer on another down on the luck starting pitcher. Free up space, and fill up that bullpen. Honestly, trading Buehrle is a better move than trading Quentin as it would be tough to find an everyday player who could replace his offense in my opinion. And this coming from someone who's not a fan of Quentin at all.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) I highly doubt Weber promised playing time. He might have said Langford would have a great chance to come in and compete for early PT, but I guarantee he did not promise early PT. Not his MO. BTW, I have seen that quote you probably are referring to from Langford's coach in regard to the PT, but I have to assume the coach misunderstood Weber, so I am not bashing you. Yep If he really is like Penny Hardaway, I don't blame them for playing him off the bat.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) based on a bunch of tweets, it looks like there are two options for Viks/Giants: TCF Bank, home of UofMinn (problems: not ready for NFL and it's going to be very cold) Fold Field in Detroit (domed and has Fox camera eqipment there already) Who ever charges less and whoever gives more money to the NFL will be the selection.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) Tina was always with the top alliances, but yeah she never really did much physically. So much for a "heavy-hitter". Brad had been quite a little b**** this season. From not going into the gulag, to everything with Tori, and being upset that Camilia voted for him with a good reason, I always thought he was way tougher than he has shown on CutThroat. He's been like that for the past few challenges. I think it's their married life. I know they were having money problems at one time and Brad wanted to provide for Tori so she wouldn't worry. Now he's very sensitive about anything in these challenges.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) I just like that someone actually stuck up for the guy for once. The cool thing to do seems to bash the heck out of him every time we're on TV, etc. No one ever points out the good things Pearl does for both the community and the university. Pearl does so many charitable things, but everyone wants to focus on this one, bad mistake he made. Of course, that's how the media is these days. The bad stuff sells. I'm not sure I'd call him a "victim" b/c when you mess up these days, you should expect it. But many in the media seem to care too much about this situation. This was an issue when it came out 6 months ago. The university is not firing him and that's that. Move on. Anyway, as far as penalties: 1) 7 games from SEC? - It's actually 8 (and you can expect more from the NCAA) 2) Reduce his salary by 10% - It was actually reduced by 50% for 3 years. That's pretty significant. 3) Take away some phone calls - Um, he can't leave campus to recruit for a year. He can't make any phone calls, travel to any games, make in-home visits, etc. That's all pretty harsh considering those are the self-imposed penalties (#2 & 3) and the SEC penalty (#1) so far. You can be sure the NCAA will come down the hardest, so I'd say when it's all said and done, he'll be very heavily penalized. Wow, take off the orange tinted goggles man. His penalties were not harsh in the least bit. Reduce a millionaire's salary to a millionaire's salary. Big whoop. 8 games from the SEC, that's not much at all. He can't leave campus to recruit. Don't mean he can't have his assistants do it for him. And I'm sure he'll try to bypass the laws by having his assistant call him when visiting a recruit and putting him on speakerphone. Then, you get no phone records. Tennessee's program should be placed on probation for him knowingly breaking the rules and for lying to the NCAA. And trust me, every college coach does charity work and all that jazz. It's part of representing their university. I've never seen a big program allow their coaches to recruit and do nothing else in the community or for the university, so you can kill that noise.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Langford won't play much as a freshman, IMO. Bertrand isn't that good. Paul/Richardson/Richmond are the starters 1-3. And then there minutes to be won. Abrams/Henry are still freshman, so Crandall will have an edge on them assuming his head is on straight. That's the only way I see him leaving is because of academic issues. Apparently, that's what got him to committ to Illinois was the fact that he was promised PT. Apparently he was torn between Maryland and Illinois and Weber and Howard assured him of playing time if not a starter's role from everything I've heard.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) What were some jokers saying at the beginning of the season about John Wall already being better than Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose just might be the best player in the NBA. Let's not get carried away. He's not as efficient as you would like him to be. He's still pretty bad at defense, though Thibs' schemes are doing a good job of hiding them, he still jumps way too much to pass for a PG who's taller than 90% of the PGs out there. And the next time he throws a no look pass will be the first time. What I mean by that, is that he telegraphs what he's going to do way too much still. If he's going to shoot it, you pretty much know he's going to shoot it. When he's going to pass it, you know when he's going to pass it.

QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Since you asked for it: Kevin. Love. I'm hardly a Kahn fanboy, but I do think he gets way too much crap from the overall public. There's plenty of talent on the team right now, but given their age and immaturity, it hasn't led to as many wins as desired. Had they been able to hold onto a couple of wins down the stretch, this team could easily have five or six more wins right now. There's plenty of reason to be at least conservatively optimistic about the Wolves future. I didn't see the game tonight and I'm glad I didn't. Looked awful. Not too surprising though, we aren't too good on the road and the Bulls are a fairly quality team. s*** happens. Kahn has added talent to that team, so that's a great thing. They need to trade some of the young guys for better players/vets and they'll be cooking. Their most missing a penetrating PG who can be Rubio. I absolutely hated the Johnny Flynn pick though and still do.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) THe Vikings/Giants game has been postponed until Monday night, the game might be postponed again due to the Metrodome roof collapsing under snow. Update: the dome has collapsed Wow. Thursday nighter? Then again, it's too soon to turn around and have a game on Sunday again. As far as Bear weather, you suckers who like it are getting it. It's snowing with wind here in Oak Forest, and it's going to be colder over there. Pats 13 Bears 10.

I wonder how Muschamp will do. I wonder what Miami will do. I think they need to hit a homerun because the legend of Miami could end up being no more. They haven't really been relevant since their last National Championship game against an OSU team.

Multiple Sources: Sox actively shopping Quentin
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 07:17 AM) Yeah, I think you were one of them, when I mentioned Teahen plus a relief prospect for Lyon. I obviously know that Teahen is valueless, but including a relief prospect along with him for a good but not great reliever atleast might work. Depending on whose metrics you want to use - baseballreference or FanGraphs - Andruw Jones by himself, in limited playing time, was worth 15-20 times that of Carlos Quentin last year. I don't think Quentin is THAT bad in the outfield, but he is not good defensively, and that does cost the Sox runs and games. I also think you are being delusional if you believe that Mark Teahen is worse defensively in the outfield than Carlos Quentin. I don't see anything that suggests that at all. If you compare them 3B to RF, then sure, you have an argument, but that's about your only argument, and that'd be even more ridiculous. Quite frankly, Carlos Quentin is Carlos Lee/Jermaine Dye/Adam Dunn bad defensively. That affects his game and overall value tremendously. I would say he is obviously quite a bit better offensively, but he should be DHing or playing 1B for someone. You know that I don't think the Sox should trade Quentin unless they can get proper value (and I don't believe they should because they won't get proper value). It's not ridiculous to think that a Mark Teahen/Andruw Jones platoon could be more effective overall though. Good post and I agree.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Crandall will be fine. Remember he lost all of last year to a knee injury so he still in recovery mode. Yeah, but they're literally too deep in the backcourt. Next year: Abrams, Langford, Paul, Richardson, Head, Bertrand, and Henry/Richmond at the guard spots. Good look cracking that rotation.

Yeah, if I'm Bertrand, I'm definitely transferring because he has no future with Illinois. I'd consider thinking the same if I was Crandall Head too.

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Here is the funny thing. The Bears have said on the record they are worried about injuries on the field turf. Fine, then why do they practice on Field Turf at Halas Hall inside the bubble then? I understand it is an indoor facility and there are not a lot of options besides that, but you play 8 regular season games at Soldier Field and 2 pre-season games. Yet, I'm sure they practice more than 10 times in the bubble. Isn't there far more of an injury risk that way? I never got that either. They should do like Green Bay and make a synthetic mix of actual grass with turf.

Video Game Catch-All Thread
Anyone play NBA2k11 with the new update? I think it sucks big time. Everyone has a really fast release. Guys like Jordan and Kobe have no hangtime on their jumper. It seems like if anyone touches you, the animation for a dunk changes to a layup right away. Turnovers were wayyyyyy jacked up, if you go in the air to do a jump pass like Rose does in real life, you can bet there will be a turnover. Also, at times your player won't respond to what you want when the shot clock is winding down. I played a game against my brother, did a cross move and attempted to shoot with Rose at the basket for an easy bucket and he didn't shoot. Instead he was called for a travel. It's happened to me a few times. The worse of them all is the ball disappearing on me for 3 quarters of a game. It seems like they waited for Elite to give up and then just released this crappy product.
