  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) https://theringer.com/cleveland-cavaliers-k...de-c39d8a560866 This talks about league sources saying Butler is "as good as gone" this offseason. I'll believe it when I see it. Same stuff was said about Melo a few years ago. Can't wait to see how many negative PER players we could get for Butler from our crack front office.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) Damn. That is better than 80 speed. Holy crap. Even if you assume hand timing that puts him in the "fast as hell" territory.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) Oh I know. I was just kidding because I totally fall down the same line of thinking when I see these. Two months from now I will dig into my Robert memory bank and remember that video as if I scouted the kid traveling down from field to field on a donkey. PERSON Sox signed this guy Robert, never heard of him. ME Yeah I scouted some video. Really ...short and ... nice swing. Uses...hips correctly. Definitely has the height you see in some players that are successful.
  4. After thinking about that, I take it back, you could pay me to watch it. But I will not watch for free.
  5. I really like Chuck Garfein, so I say this with sadness, but... you couldn't pay me to watch our pre/post game shows.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) So you are saying its not effective to scout a player on 40 seconds of BP in the DR? I have to look back, I am not even sure he was wearing shoes. Well, again, I don't know that I have actually watched a bad player's BP snippets. So maybe the mere fact that one was generated and shared means that he is in fact worth signing. It could be the moneyballing metric the white sox need.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) That is a nice swing. Not very long at all. Probably because only phenoms have their BPs put up on twitter, but every one of those I think "THis player is amazing"
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) Not for profit schools aren't exactly a shining beacon in this country right now either. They are actually. The American University system is the envy of the world.
  9. Yeah. I can buy that. JR has won basically every cost-certainty policy that can exist in the MLB save a salary cap. Him strictly adhering to the rules here is no longer necessary. Plus I don't think he cares about losing a class of 16 year olds, he lost a decades worth already.
  10. Hard to watch the "early returns" for Ossof and actually get excited after, ya know, November.

I kinda wish S-town and Serial didn't do a big dump of episodes. That was really fun with serial figuring stuff out with everyone. Now it may eventually lead to a " I listened to that as well, where are you at" "oh, not finished yet? Certainly enjoyable" "Yes, enjoyable"
  12. Yes they'd be much better off turning away the number one recruit in the country WHO GREW UP COLUMBIA MISSOURI. Ben Simmons wasn't bad for LSU. Jonny Jones was. No reason why Antonio Blakeney and others couldn't pull that team up, he was just a bad coach. You can say Cuonzo's teams have bad ruts, but he's not Jones for godsake
  13. That's fun to see Guerrero stateside already.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 01:02 PM) Except Jackson averaged over a 100 in ops+ from 2010-2014....peaking at 129 in 2012. Not to mention he became one of the top prospects for the Yankees (although a relatively low 8th round draft pick) and had a lot of hype around him based on some stellar minor league numbers. Yes, but he was terrible last year but when he left everyone included that injury as a hit to our performance. It wasn't his hitting we missed, it was the seemingly great outfield he helped provide with Eaton in right. It wasn't and isn't easy for sox to upgrade in CF with a better offensive player with comparable defense. There are a lot more options for replacing a pretty exclusive 2b with limited offensive profile.
  15. I'm sure they'll give us a good rate. .25 cents an acre? Worked well before.
  16. I don't mind him golfing. I do mind the golfing at his resorts and setting up a "winter whitehouse" that is a private resort that his family owns, and he is ssupposed to be holding at arms length.
  17. Cool for Basabe to get a shot to play in a fun stage.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) I think both have upsides as MLB regulars, the question is just what that floor is and how likely they are to get to their ceiling. Sanchez has a higher floor I'd say given that he's been a productive player in AAA. On the other hand, there's a little more mystery with May since he's arguably been rushed and has faced some injuries that an optimist might say have hidden his true potential. I don't know, I feel the offense for infielders has appreciably increased. Not many terrible offensive, good defensive 2bers nowadays. Lots of poor offensive, good defensive outfielders. I think if May is a wizard he gets a lot of rope. Look at Ajax.
  19. There is another facilities bond and operations increase for Oak Park, 6 years after the last one for d 200. Always will be the end of children if it fails.
  20. I'm that guy but can anyone read and summarize? http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...TRd32qHDoIS4.97
  21. Let's not go overboard, I don't think Houston's rotation is horrid.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) I just hope we get Wizards/Cavs at some point. LeBron wouldn't even be the show in that one. Wall/Irving for a potential 7 games is box office. just please no toronto/cavs ECF.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) bmags, you a fan of Keatts? Because I respect my readers I did some reformatting that, ahem, caused a duplication.
  24. So as most of the coaching areas have settled, have to say this was one hell of a coaching class. Losers: KSU - saw two former coaches in the final four (that they let go) and one former asst. coach become a hot name and leave for U of I while keeping Bruce Weber. I think it's true that Underwood would have been difficult to get with his big 12 buyout, but bleh. OSU - what in god's name are they doing Cal - I just think they always have a tough job and it sucks when the coaches leave there, but on other hand they don't care that much about basketball Dayton - Maybe they find a great coach but OTOH they got a lot out of Miller. I left UW off that list. Yeah, they lost a top 5 recruiting class, but I think they made a decent hire and hard to keep Romar after last few years. VCU will find another good coach. That program is solid. Winners: Indiana - Upgraded Uof I - love Underwood Mizzou - hard to overstate how different and much positive energy there is compared to Haith/Anderson hires NC State - love Keatts LSU - I'm neutral on Wade but hard not to improve over Jones. WSU/Butler - For keeping their coaches again
