He's a career 73 wRC+ against RHP. It's just not an advantage. And with 2 LH outfielders, switch handed 3b/C, I feel like we are mostly covered. Leury offers slightly below average defense and below average hitting from 7 different positions. That is an improvement over needing to play a fan from the stands or Gavin Sheets in the outfield, but marisnick in OF is plus D. Leury in the infield sucks, he's older, and was one of the worst players in baseball last year. Onto the next.

I'm a bit confused by that. Maybe he doesn't want to move to RT either, but La'El collins is out for the year (i'm pretty sure? He tore his ACL in playoffs). He has a starting tackle job if he moves over. And if he demands LT with bears...meh

I mean, I think it's fine. I get this way. but had they signed mcGlinchey would I have been like "this succcks!". It'd be nice not to go into the draft not being like "ok have to take RT first, and if we don't, eek". That said, we have flexibility with picks and cap, which I hope we'll jump at when someone becomes available. And the fact that they used it for DJ moore when it was so barren at WR is a good example of this. A surprise cut may still yet happen. Taylor Lewan may decide he loves Luke Steckel and wants to finish his career in chicago in competition against a rookie. You look at next year and Terance Steele and Tunsil are available potentially.

I just can't stress enough how little I value Leury's left handedness when the productivity of it is so awful.
-
Alberto only played outfield like 3 times in his life but that's enouhg for me ALBERTO OVER LEURY

It looks like there isn’t an nba player who has had it and returned

I feel like he's going to have knee replacement at like age 28. Hard not to view things as a bulls fan, but this is incredibly sad. The good news is he got his contract before it happened, but to just be in forever rehab, that's just terrible.

So for context I was like "ok but how good did like mike pennel jr or angelo blackson look prior to last year" (this was my internal dialogue) and...not good. Blackson was ok in 2021 but horrible prior. Same with Pennel. They got a lot of run last year. Obviously reason why I thought to look was AQM who was a warm body. But -- good on PFF who honestly does seem to do a good job showing who's number stats may be fraudulant. I think I'm a full on PFF believer now. Makes you worry about Nkagoue

it eventually gets paywalled but this post has an all time gif in it of why I love the pitch clock. https://pebblehunting.substack.com/p/we-all-must-make-things-in-order

Me! I just posted that above you.

On a side, less important note. To me I'd love Hendon Hooker. Because of his ACL, he wasn't a good project given he may not be available until december. I think with the ravens you see the benefit of having a similar QB skillset. I think a lot of the "budget fields" stuff I see is too focused on running QBs. But I think the other aspect is you want that downfield mindset. Hooker is old for a prospect, and injured. So I hope he'd be a later round pick (5th or so) if bears got him. But he's huge too, he can handle some of that goal line stuff Fields does and keep the rushing plays. And his stats look so much like fields once he hit TN.

There's like 40 draftees at georgia 2 possibly 3 other first round picks. If he was only one I think it would have been more likely.

It's true but one might be the reason for another. Losing a friend after making a costly decision, getting charged with it at the combine, I'm assuming that should weigh on a non-psychopath. But that's for teams to figure out.
-
Those last sentences ran intogether too much. IMO there is little difference between the fact that he didn't hit someone or did, the danger and threat was the same. Didn't mean for it to read "this guys got good luck we should draft him" However - imo there is a difference between reckless behavior and violent behavior and I'd still be ok with drafting someone who did that given where things ended up.

Sox unveil $5 Tuesday for select concession items
bmags replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good reminder not to go to tuesday night games in the bleachers. Yeek. Nice promotion though charging the same amount for cocacola as they are for beer is obviously absurd. -
The attorney note on carter is interesting. Mainly that he was originally on scene when authorities arrived and was told he could leave. I do wonder if they told him he could leave because he may have not indicated he was "racing", but, he ultimately didn't plea to that and I'm sure a good lawyer could have caused uncertainty they could convict lying there based on wording. I would assume the lawyer note is probably right on the DUI stuff but no idea. Regardless, he was not brought in and we don't know. Finally - racing is bad. Had they hit a car and killed innocent people he'd be in jail for a decade. That that didn't happen is luck. Would I draft him? yes.
-
Yes that’s the rate. What happens if you actually tripled the pass sets Jones was a part of?
-
The thing is brown did it over 3x more pass sets than Jones. The bears coddled their tackles in passing downs.
-
Yes, I just hate going into the draft with a positional need set in stone for first pick. Esp when corner may be the impact pick. Really hoping it ends up being something like we acquire tunsil as Houston goes for their new LT at 12 and avoids the big payday on LT.
-
I’d also draft him at 9 ?

Bummer

So I am obviously a big play our guys to see what they have so we don't have to pay 16 mil for leurys kinda guy, but was also a supporter of signing alberto... and given the stolen base rules, I feel like he'll be a good piece to take advantage. Hopefully we get a hot two months or so and can help us get some more budget for a real acquisition.
-
I actually thought 3rd rounder was a pretty good get for Raiders, but reality is there just is no receiver upgrades to be made for Giants. The draft is full of really nice slot guys which isn't really their need, or pretty big projects. Feels like this was one of the bigger playmakers they could get.
-
Good move for giants.
-
I mean, I really did not want to go into the draft basically knowing we had to use first round pick on something. 2nd round tackles always seem to go wrong or end up guards, and then you have to be super confident about hitting on a 3rd or later round tackle. Not my favorite idea. Maybe you try for a comeback year for donovan smith.
