  1. His finishing is what is making me excited. He's had some nice moves to the rim earlier and was just getting stuffed. Now he's figuring out how to use his body for space.
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) Which teams are interested in Upton that aren't also interested in Cespedes? I've mainly just heard a lot more smoke from Texas around Upton and nothing on cespedes. They like him on a short term teal or longer term one that gets more expensive post-beltre contract I think I read.
  3. I think it is realistic that Upton is the one that goes short. He should get a huge contract next offseason as a 29 year old in a bad market. Davis/Cespy, I don't see it. So risky.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) It seems obvious to me the hold up is Cespedes and Upton want to see what Baltimore does with the pile of money it offered Davis. If one of those guys signs there, Boras will be left trying to save face. I don't see another team offering $150 million for Davis, so how he may do this is a one year contract higher than the AAV he turned down. He has played RF and LF, maybe not so well, but throw $25 million at him for 1 season to see what he could do. It would be a huge gamble, but he would be playing for a contract, and USCF does play well into Davis' offensive game. If he hits 40 or 50 homers, he would wind up paying for himself in spades. I do not remember Boras truly screwing over a client that badly, so I have to believe it is some marginal gain they will end up reaping from bmore.
  5. haven't read this but want to: nyti.ms/1ZOQzkQ Dupont article, relevant with flint.
  6. I know I've probably said this 3-4 times, but I actually stopped following talkingpointsmemo today. I'm pretty bummed how tpm went from must-read analysis and investigative outfit to...whatever huffpo garbage it has become. But also the behavior of that twitter constantly retweeting the same articles and things (especially when it's just WATCH: ANN COULTER SAYS)... Still like a lot of what josh marshall writes.
  7. Mutual options mean nothing.
  8. speaking of... KINGS LAKERS CATCH THE FEVER
  9. Is this market actually quite different or is it just because we have skin in the game? Usually it feels like this time of year will just be your bonifacios and utility players, with 3-4 tier two signings left. But this year it seems like half the FA class is still unsigned with very little interest.
  10. Rose is really starting to get it back
  11. Why does cespedes care about playing in the nations capital
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) There are other threads to talk about pitching. Just sayin' this the Cespedes threasd. He was responding to a poster literally asking for a list of the tier 2/3 pitchers, chill.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) You'll notice that most of the mods aren't getting overly optimistic either Checkmate, DA
  14. He's from Virginia.
  15. The weirdest thing to me has been Upton's clear coldness toward sox. He seems crazy to limit his market even further.
  16. In the Kim anderson era, mizzou is 3-29 against power 5 opponents. Against power 5 opponents this year, they have been down 20 points at least once in ever game.
  17. Well. 3 days before frazier trade we heard frazier talks were dead. I'll just hold that memory.
  18. Don't buy AAPL for short term gains as smarter people manipulate the stock better than you can. If you like their company and how absurdly low their P/E is, this shouldn't worry you too much.
  19. I'd say I want news, but the reality is I only want good news at this point.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) I wonder if it is the voter who voted for Eckstein. When David Eckstein is on a ballot, you can't pass up that chance to vote for him.
  21. I would love to have been able to say that I cast a ballot for Ken Griffey Jr. to be in the hall of fame.
  22. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) Bulls quietly putting a nice streak and offense as potent as we have seen it, Fred Hoiberg finally payin off? Yes, I fall for it every time, and everytime I remember that there is no sport where repetition with the same group matters more than basketball.
  23. Excellent article if you have access. i learned a lot http://www.economist.com/news/middle-east-...aluable_company

I was surprised Oregon police have let the men go in and out for supplies.
  25. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) This makes sense and is something the Bears should have done to protect Cutler. The Bears carousel of coaches on the offensive side of the ball and hiring defensive minded coaches sans the buffoon Treastman has led to a constant state of flux. Now Gase is gone and in comes a new offensive guy. It seems the offense changes annually. No. Nobody is going to look at the Bucs firing their head coach to promote their coordinator and say "Bears should have done that".
