QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Could say basically the same thing about the "proven veteran" Melky. You couldn't actually because as bad as he was, he was not -1.1 fWAR like Avisail which is what was mentioned here.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) I want an Obi-Wan film with McGregor back so badly. I'm surprised by this. I can't even look at screen shots of that movie without cringing at the costumes/lighting.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) On the positive side, Rose is starting to play better. If I were going to look at this season thus far: Biggest positive is general health + Jo's resurgence & Dougie's emergence Biggest negative is probably Rose's play...although I might actually put Niko as a bigger negative. Dude has been horrific (and from a value perspective, entering the season, he was our most attractive trade asset outside of Jimmy). Agree on both. Honestly Niko sucking is #1 negative for me, Jo's resurgence positive #1. The defense has been pretty good. This offense though is still iso hell.

I feel like Daniel Murphy is going to end up as a nelson cruz like signing. No market for him, but found a fit and is now a cheap incredibly productive hitter. Wish we had a DH spot for him.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) I find it very hard to believe that he won't get (at minimum) a deal around $18-$20M AAV over 4 years. I also find it very hard to believe that he'd turn down 4/$80M and sign with the Royals at 4/$50M. No way he leaves $30M on the table. I do too, but I have this nagging feeling he's going to sign for 16 mill and everyone will be kicking themselves.

With how forgettable marvel movies have become (like, I literally don't remember I saw them 2 weeks later) i'm a bit nervous how watered down SW will be. Re: Finn - I liked his awkwardness at the beginning and one-track mind. Remember this is probably the first time he's ever interacted as a human. I wish he had family flashbacks, and I wish if the empire is run by kidnapping kids, they should have made a point to take the kids in the opening scene.

I think what happened is traditionally they announce first runner up first (that's how you know who won, who wasn't mentioned). I think he tried to correct it by changing to what should have happened the first time, except it was obviously clearly insanity then.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 20, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Wednesday should be a real barn burner And to reiterate for both programs, we are both awful during a time where some of the best talent maybe ever is leaving the STL/Columbia area. Kim Anderson was the worst hire possible. This is a 4-5 year hole. I like a lot of these players but I have no idea what the hell he is doing.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) That reason would be that he doesn't have much of a market. The big market teams aren't looking for an OF. His "hometown" team is lowballing him at $12AAV. The Sox should really swoop in and offer him 4 year/ $80M. That's nearly $30M over the Royals current offer. He makes this team so much better. That $12 million is what I'm talking about though. I think he'll sign a deal much lower than people expected. Considering Zobrist just got 16 mill at 35 he should at least be getting that deal and I wonder if he will.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) A very solid B. Yep. I would be interested to know how this movie landed for someone that did not see any previous movies.

Is the big short good? Seems like an awkward book to make a movie. (Moneyball was too, hence the awful father/daughter storyline).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 09:36 AM) Basically what he did was try to erase the CGI bulls*** of the last 3 and go back to the gritty model/location based filming of 4-6 while basically repeating episode 4 as a nod to the original series and passing the baton. Nothing else really happened. They passed the baton in every single way and now we get to see Luke train the next him. It was a good and entertaining movie, but I was really hoping for a new plot or danger. I am hoping the next one is when we are exposed to something we havent seen before since he felt the need to basically make us forget about Epi 1-3. I also could have done without the lady behind me clapping whenever an old character showed up. With the original trilogy, you really lived in the new planets, learned them like a new character. This hopped around too much, it was just scenery. Same issue with star trek. I don't feel like the Star Wars world has expanded. But yes, he basically cleansed the palette. And it certainly looked beautiful, the action was fantastic. The ty fighter - falcon chase was top notch entertainment.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) Yeah, it seems like if we don't come in here and heap praise upon the film it means we aren't fans or didn't like the movie. I geeked out. I loved it. But it was a solid B due to a few flaws. Perhaps over time those flaws will be answered (save of course ANOTHER death star that's bigger and badder going down easier). I look forward to torrenting it and watching a few more times before the bluray release. Yes. I had lots of fun, lots of moments of giddiness. But I left the theater really pissed about last scene, hated that blatant serialization trope, and the pacing was just not good. It's amazing how little actual story happened in this movie in 2.5 hrs. We essentially know nobodies motivations beside Finn, unless you've seen previous movies. It's just classic JJ Abrams problems. He's capable of incredible highs but he has never made a full movie.

I feel like Gordon is going to sign a very team friendly deal for some reason.

I actually believed this, that the cubs tanking hurt the sox due to the lack of baseball interest in town. But last year proved me wrong, cubs were good, sox were bad - it was like the sox didn't exist.

Oh my gosh this miss universe thing is so embarrassing.

.640 OPS sounds exactly right.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 20, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) Is the argument that there really is no Coors effect? If it is, that is beyond silly. It isn't just that balls carry farther, there is a lot more room for balls to drop. No, it's not the point. The point is it's not like these players are in the KBO where we have no idea how they will perform outside of coors. You don't need to go just by their away splits just because of Coors. But the constant "is he good or is he coors?" debate that has continued for 15 years now is a) boring and b) not a huge difference. Not that .050 OPS is minuscule, but it's not like teams would think they are getting a .950 ops player and getting a .750 ops player. Also - Holliday has virtually the same ops from 2008 and 2009 and I'm not sure if Balta knows but Cuddyer played in Minnesota prior. Have we not had enough talk about how they'll hit better in us cellular field to see how marginal these gains are?

That should have been offensive PI. Clear blocking prior to pass

Another game, another easy drive for a TD. Another game of horrible mental penalties.

I honestly don't care about home road splits. In our best example, with coors, we always hear about the coors effect. While there is number inflation, has anyone been overvalued by coors? Holliday had a great career from coors, Tulo was great, cuddyer, fowler... It's thrown around like this huge insight, but it seems pretty meaningless.
