  1. I can't imagine the shame that would arise from being swept by the white sox.
  2. That was a good article. His commentary on sox recently has been somewhat incoherent, and this was much more clear. I disagree with their insistence that Garcia be called up right away and viciedo dropped, yet also maintaining team should be bad as possible. If Viciedo sucks, why drop him? He's not costing much anyway, and he could possibly develop.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) I think it's funny that White Sox fans wouldn't go to the ballpark last year to watch a 1st place team but there were meatballs walking up to attend a game to boo A-Rod. Mind boggling to me. Not to mention, the Sox have Quintana and Flowers on the roster who have both tested positive. Just funny. I find it hard to believe people think this is at all interesting that after a season of crap, suddenly the baseball team you follow is in all the news that "tonight's" game will feature (insert anything) against the most popular team in the country and you don't think that would increase attendance.
  4. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 07:13 PM) It's interesting to think though, that if someone slipped something into your food or drink and you tested positive, how easily you'd be blackballed from the game. I suppose if someone close to you had an alternative agenda, this could be done quite easily, no? Odds of being found positive for that are probably zero.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) It isn't the Madhouse on Madison. That is the Chicago Stadium. How does a sign change that? That's what I'm saying. it's crap. Did all the fans die in 93? Did people stop cheering during National Anthem when the UC opened? Stadiums change. As long as it's still on Madison and it's where the hawks play they can throw whatever charming allusion the past they want. Any other opinion is just stubborn oldmanisms.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) I'm not saying that at all. I do believe the sign is meaningless though. The real Madhouse was the Stadium. The UC is the UC. They aren't anywhere close to the same thing. Putting up a sign to pretend they are the same is just silly. People comment on stadiums all the time. I don't understand what could make this commentary less valid. I was also angry when they changed pizza vendors to digiornos but hey, we won a stanley cup so i guess I should delete that.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) My friend speculated on my Facebook status last night that all these ridiculous injuries are a result of players weaning themselves off HGH in anticipation of blood testing next year. Although... ligaments get fragile when the muscle mass grows faster than the ligament... Eh, i think it's more just coincidence. I don't think they'll do s*** for HGH b/c I don't think the league will catch anyone.
  8. Well, the NCAA could regulate it, and say you can sell memorabilia only through x vendors. They could take a premium and screw over the college athletes still, but hey, at least the kids could get paid.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) Thanks. Yeah, it isn't like they are taking the ivy down at Wrigley or something. It was cool and all, but it isn't worth being upset about. Hell as long as they keep competing on the ice, I could give a s*** less what the signs above the ice say. Well, yeah. But then also I can say "As long as they are competing on the UC ice, I don't want to hear s*** about how Chicago stadium was amazing" I thought it was nice. I reject the idea that traditions were only allowed to start in the 1940s and anything after that is just a fad bandwagon item.
  10. Ugh there is some terrible consultant team behind that I'm guessing.
  11. Yeah. I get that Manziel is a spoiled brat, and stuff, but...I really just can't believe how hard the NCAA comes down on this stuff.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Odds are that Rios is gone and Garcia takes his spot. After that, who are you going to replace Viciedo with? Any other potential guys in our system are still at least a year away, IF they do progress. He's also cheap to suck, which is an upgrade over our 'expensive to suck' players.
  13. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Yahoo Sports has a good article on Viciedo. Tone of the article suggests Viciedo will not be back next year. Article says Manto, Baines and Ventura have basically given up trying to install some disciple to his swing. His jammed thumb from last night might open the door for Garcia soon. Wouldn't be surprised if Viciedo goes on the DL. I would be shocked if he is not back next year. I would love if we found a long-term upgrade for him, but if not no reason to not just let him play.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) When is the last time after Rose's rookie year that he was shut down by a point guard? I can't think of a single time, all "he shut himself down last year" jokes aside. I don't remember any, but I did think Jeff Teague did a pretty good job on him in the playoffs in 11.
  15. I don't understand what will be accomplished by cutting him right now.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:09 PM) I don't really understand why. OMG I have to see ARod? I think it's more likely just the fact that sox are in national news created ticket interest. Hell, Yankees used to be automatic lock for 25k, i'm guessing some fans just found out they were in town since nobody has paid attention to this team.
  17. good jimmy article: http://www.csnchicago.com/bulls/jimmy-butl...ounding-prowess
  18. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) I'm really hoping for 6 wins. Kind of sad to be honest, but that's the state UT's in right now. As for other poster's comment, I don't think I'm crying a river. Just stating that it's a damn tough schedule. Yup. After having toughest schedule in SEC, Mizzou now has 3rd toughest. Mizzou really needs a 7-5 campaign or else the rails are going to come loose and who knows what becomes of the program. That said, I feel much more comfortable with 2nd QB maty mauk than Berkstresser, who was god awful last year.
  19. I liked his moxy yesterday, I just want to see him pitch more. Amazed how few pitches he throw considering he only threw like 47% strikes yesterday.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) I think he single-handedly destroyed our team from suckday one. All of this s*** we are dealing with now is because of Dunn being absolutely brutal in the heart of our order. 2011 and 2012 were lost because of Dunn. 2012?
  21. Man, this year is just incredible.
  22. Despite all the evidence, I really can't believe the sox are THIS bad. I know I should root for the worst season ever but in practice, ugh, how could this be?
  23. Just so used to it being the fifth inning without a run scored for sox.
  24. Well, last night at 1030pm was much more exciting.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) You are probably right, but eating a lot of money isn't going to bring back a future all star. Teams are not dumb. It's harder than ever to pry away their best prospects. I agree. However, I feel like eating 5mill and getting some c level spects + 14mill in savings is better than Rios. But, hey, I wouldn't be heartbroken if he's here.
