Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) That went from maybe Mizzou to probably Purdue to "100%" going to Mizzou, to Purdue announcing an 8-year extension. Now please, can we get Shaka. That was heartbreaking. Everyone of these 'wait-to-unfold' events like this has not ended up in my favor.

The Bars Thread
QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) I feel like there's some sort of mentality among craft brew snobs that if you don't like IPAs (or anything real hoppy), you're a pansy. Granted, I've talked to a few brewers themselves, and they say that's not the case at all...the common theme was, "If we brew it, we like it." I like IPAs well enough, but...that's not exactly showing off.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Did you go yet? I have been extremely disappointed by the food selection. So I went to this. I was very disappointed. For a microbrew, they only had like 4 of their own beers and i'm pretty sure 3 of them were IPAs.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) Is there something wrong with Allen Iverson's game? HOFer right? For sure. Remember when Sam Smith had Iverson to the Bulls around 02/03? I was thrilled. Dude took his (pretty weak) teams to the finals 2 times in a row. He was a good.

sigh, i've such bad luck watching games. I feel like i've seen every loss this season and I don't get to see a lot of games.

The Democrat Thread
i misspoke, but the healthcare act was so much bigger than anything the republicans accomplished in 2000 or 2010 and it's not even close. Establishing collective bargaining and what not when the dems regain power will be pretty easy, dismantling ACA will be much much harder. They'll have to hope for the supreme court to overturn it.

U.S. launches airstrikes on Libya
I get both sides of this particular argument. But this particular argument I find beside the point. What's the end game here? There's like, one road to east libya, they could easily protect that. And I guess that's a victory. But there's limitations to airpower. Nonviolent democratic movements the past 25 years have had a much much much bigger chance of creating an actual stable gov't than any violent overtakings. That's why Tunisia and egypt were important. But some of these were not going to be completed. Intervening won't create stability. And if all the sudden a ceasefire is taken...this is just a punt until some warhawk wants to finish the job vs. gaddafi. We just had to stay out. Many would have died, and it would have been terrible to watch. But many also die of malaria, as has often been said, why don't we just fight malaria?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) From a discussion elsewhere, thought it was worthwhile to repost: The dems did get universal healthcare and a lot of other things. But hey, whose counting passing a policy they've tried to get done for 60 years.

Chicago Mayoral Race thread
To be fair...I sort of agree. I don't really find that #s always = better representation for the people. New Hampshire has a gigantic state legislature, and for no real reason. Nebraska is unicameral, and functions just as well as many others. You could easily eliminate the upper or lower half of the IL legislature without anyone noticing.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Counter example, you'll never meet a dentist, doctor, chemist, etc...without a college degree. They formed cartels.

If the Sox get ... Then they will ...
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) If the Sox sport a .600 winning percentage against AL central opponents they'll win the division. Much like mine but... If the sox go .500 against the twins, then they'll win the division.

Payroll Too Big
First, you need to get in the playoffs. I think this team is good enough to get there. It might not, as well. Baseball is tough and long.

Nike Hair-itage White Sox Tees
Definitely. Rollie Fingers one is my favorite. They could have chosen a better one for the sox, but no complaints. At least we have a shirt.

Nike Hair-itage White Sox Tees
Nike Hair-Itage Tshirts As spring training winds down and real news pops up, I thought i'd make a post that's debatable for the forum. Anyway I'm a big fan of these tshirts. Anyone else buy one? Google said it was Ozzie Guillen.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) LOL, palm trees. Don't worry, the commenters on YT have plenty of excuses! Fox never claimed that it was video from Madison! Watching it again, the guy I thought was mounty was just someone wearing a red jacket and a wide-brim tan hat. the mounty look is in.

Patent Law Reform
Yes but it needs to slow down the bulls*** patent suits being used against web startups. Twitter just got sued because somebody patented "a medium for which celebrities can communicate with each other" and they granted it. Software patents have been given out like candy and it's hurt the startups who have incredibly vague patents used against them. Even if it gets thrown out it's a waste of resources.
