  1. weird and not good. Things had been stabilizing prior to that.
  2. Man every year prior to this I'd be super into it but I just don't care care about being forward looking at all right now.
  3. Yeah I think this is right. Especially after Eloy's first year. Eloy seemed to have truly. mastered AAA before coming up and was lost at the movement. Robert was still having some crazy bad games, I thought he'd be swinging and missing at everything and getting fed 100% sliders. He does K and get impatient, but he also is goading pitchers into certain pitches and laying off just enough on sliders that he gets to beat the crap out of baseballs.
  4. Dang we are already anxious about it ending? When TA's contract ends its 2024. Thats (including this one) 5 seasons from now. 5 seasons ago Chris Sale had just cut up jerseys, we went from a 23-10 record to 33-33 and had just traded away Zach duke for Charlie Tilson. Think about all that baseball in between, and enjoy this.
  5. fWar people are going to crush you.
  6. Also there is the chance that, like Matt Cooper, one year Dunning walks in throwing 95 mph and suddenly becomes a game changing pitcher.
  7. I would fire Bruce Levine over the fact that he supposedly covers baseball full time for the score yet somehow knows so little about both teams in town let alone the broader mlb landscape.
  8. Also Robert gets hurt on the basepaths often...just not worth it injury wise
  9. the reason not to is just that owners want it so it's leverage for the players union, so it just depends how much owners want it. They've put so much structure around it that I'm not sure they'll care too much if it's compared against...giving players more money.
  10. One thing that was common in the minors were these games where he is just completely lost and goes 0-5 with 4ks. I thought we'd see that a lot in the majors. We really only saw it a few times, cubs series it showed up against dervish. That has been pretty amazing to me. The last two days, there just isn't anyone else you'd rather see up late in the game, as good as Abreu/TA are. You just see him and know that he's going to hit the crap out of something even if it isn't a hit. He isn't going to walk. He is not gonna K. He's going to hit the crap out of something.
  11. Couple things I'm interested in: - With Great Falls now gone, do we see the DSL become more important and better talent? Sox have been moving virtually all their classes to AZ after a year in DSL if they are worth anything at all. But now their HS and College classes will need to go there. OR - Is there just going to be more of a "backfield games" contingent in AZL before guys go on to Kannapolis. So a bunch more players, especially the 16/17 y.o.s may be at the AZL complex but not competing for AZL games.
  12. Will be interesting to see this weeks U of I results which will probably come in on Friday. So far it looks like R is about 1...a little disappointing given mass testing but we'll see what mid September looks like.
  13. I remember doing an exercise in 2015 looking ahead to 2018. The reason was because we had just pushed our chips in with 2-3 year deals with the expectation that our "renewed" focus on scouting would lead to a next wave to take over once those contracts expired. It became clear how marginal all of the prospects were, and basically only Jose and TA stuck just 3 years later. Now...anyone that did a "2020 lineup" in 2018 would pretty much have nailed it, and the wildcards (Rutherford, Adolfo, Basabe, lgon, etc) none panned out, same with our 5th starter candidates, but I'll take the success of the the top level guys nailing it THIS well.
  14. I think Danny can play the internal politics much better. Bauer should probably either take over Driveline or start his own.
  15. Did Roberts HR hit above that ivy thing? It ricocheted so damn hard I couldn’t tell where it landed
  16. Just like we all suspected the AL central is the most conpetitive in baseball
  17. lol yeah I was thinking that the best confidence builder isn’t blowing them out but playing kinda miserably and winning by 3 runs still
  18. He’s 2020s Cliff Politte
  19. We’re talking about...Vanderbilt, we’re talking about ... Vanderbilt, right?
  20. I mean people still post that bob twitter guy's rumors. If it says the sox are planning to do something people like it's gonna be on here.
  21. Not gonna lie I hope like hell we get the Rodon from April 2019. Not the best pitcher in the world but good enough and would be a big relief to not have to do a bullpen day every fifth day.
  22. I uh, am cool without Josh Osich.
  23. ugh we are going to have to watch Lopez on Wednesday.
