  1. I hate to admit it but I've been watching baseball for over fourty years, and I still don't understand the balk.
  2. The best thing about these ugly "patriotic" uniforms is it stops them from wearing the black "alternative" jerseys game after game after game.
  3. Lucky for me I find baseball the most watchable of all the major sports, so I can watch any games that are on and I root for several teams without getting to worked up. Living in Los Angeles I can root for the Dodgers. My wife is a Yankees fan and we've lived in New York so I know I'm not supposed to but I do root for the Yankees. Also I go by my Dad's principle that he taught me: "We root for two teams, the White Sox, and who's ever playing the Cubs. This helps me get through the White Sox down years and I'm actually excited as to where they are headed.
  4. I really thought Renteria was going to be a smart manager, but bunting with May as your next hitter is incredibly stupid. Give away an out for an automatic out. Brilliant.
  5. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) That's not a change hawk, it's a slider "Well Scootsy one man's slider is another man's change. I remember Yas telling me that Ted Williams once told him that he once was talking to the great Mickey Mantel who said slider, change up' it's not a fastball. And a well placed fastball is still the best pitch you can throw. And that reminds me...."
  6. I'm convinced the White Sox made a big mistake by not having Avi in the minors two years ago. At age 25, now he's ready for MLB.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) Hey a walk! Is it my imagination or are our hitters being more selective this year?
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 08:23 PM) he's just a guy, that has to pitch for a month or so. So he's not part of the 2019 plan right? Right???
  9. Seeing the dimensions of the outfield reminds me that moving back the walls should be part of the rebuild.
  10. Are they still going to wear the early 80's clown clothes on Sundays, or has that gone away?
  11. Nate Silver's site 538 has us at 73, fourth worst record in MLB. I'll go with that.
  12. I'm surprised they're selling tickets. I thought they'd be handing out invitations.
  13. I think almost all of the problems that have been broached in this thread come at the hands of ownership. And I'm afraid the problem with ownership comes down to age. George Halas got old and the Bears suffered. Al Davis got old and the Raiders became horrible. PK Wrigley got old, and as an owner who didn't really care to begin with, the Cubs got even worse. All of those teams suffered both on the field and off. When Reinsdorf and Einhorn took over the White Sox they were aggressive and dedicated to making the White Sox a premiere franchise. They cleaned up the park and installed one of the first and best video scoreboards in all of baseball at the time. They signed Carlton Fisk and won the division in '83. Even though Sportsvision was a disaster it was an aggressive attempt to improve the teams TV revenues. Eddie Enihorn eventually stepped aside, and then passed away. Jerry Reinsdorf is what 80 years old? He should not be running a major sports franchise on a day to day bases. The team should be in the hands of a younger and excited ownership, and until that changes, the malaise that surrounds this team will remain. I've been a fan since 1967 when I was nine years old. That first season was a really fun one, but then came '68 through '71 until Rollie Hemond, Chuck Tanner and Dick Allen made being a White Sox fan fun again in '72. But man '69 with the Cubs being so good, those were tough times like today. Being a White Sox fan is not easy, but my Dad raised me to be one and that won't change.
  14. Why do the White Sox wear red socks with their '83 clown uniforms and black socks with their regular uniforms?
  15. Harrelson is really on his game today. Sullen and not really calling the game. He's already told an old Red Sox story and he's blaming the ump for bad calls.
  16. I love how it's opening day, fifth game of the season, we're 3-1, and you guys are talking about next year and draft compensation picks!
  17. I'm currently working in Atlanta, and can't keep doing this, staying up way past my bedtime. I have a job! But I've got to see at least some of Rodon vs Gray.
  18. One things for certain, during any game called by Benetti we'll never have to hear about a pitcher's sphincter tightening when he had to face Yas in the late innings.
  19. I'm always impressed with Don Cooper.
  20. God I love having a real play by play guy.
  21. So yes this whole thing is a mess but let's not forget the upside. We got an expensive overpriced albatross of a bad hitter off of our roster and can move forward. Eventually the dust will settle and we are a better team without LaRoche on it. If I thought Williams was smart enough, I'd give him credit for pulling off such a well executed evil plan.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Cmoooooooooooooooon nothing wrong with jumping to conclusions in the first couple ST games! LOL Say what you will, fundamentally the White Sox are not a good running team.
