  1. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) (career .301 BA, .265 OBP), Dayum, how the hell did he manage that?
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) I don't get this trade at all. Lorreta is a damn good hitter. Freeing up money to try and re-sign Hoffman. EDIT: I agree though, I'm a big fan of Loretta.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) I fully understand why the Padres are making this move, but I have to make the smartass remark anyway: Good to see the Padres are really trying to build on that Division Title they won last year. I know they're doing this to try and get Trevor back but man...it looks like it is possible that the nl west has got worse so far this offseason. Obviously there is still plenty of time left but yeesh.
  4. Looks like we're going to finish last in the central now.
  5. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) but the thought of Crawford batting lead-off and Pods batting second makes me drool. It would be the other way around.
  6. QUOTE(Balance @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) I just got off the phone with a White Sox representative. I'm in! I'll be in Lower Reserved, Section 102. See you for the weekend games! Uh oh, why havent I heard from my rep yet?
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Estrada was useless to Atlanta due to the emergence of Brian McCann. Sure, but I think Estrada has a little bit more trade value then this. That being said, Schuerholtz kind of knows what he's doing over there.
  8. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Meh...that's why the Pads tried trading Burroughs to us last summer for Crede? Remember that? Glad that didn't go through. Burroughs is horrible and won't amount to anything in the majors. I like this deal for the Pads. It was for Borch not Crede. Interesting move here, basically guys who havent lived up to their potential being swapped for one another.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) There we go. May I ask, why?
  10. I love how everyone here just bashes the hell out of Pierre for one bad season.
  11. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) jon had a good yr last yr, but remember he got 18 wins cause he was the 5th starter facing other teams 5th starters, if he had to face santana,bonderman, etc on a more regular basis, he wouldnt have had such a good season...jon is no better than a number 3 starter on most clubs, he only becomes a #1 or #2 on the royals,drays,pirates, etc....just my opinion That's really not the case at all. Basically once you get out of the first week of the season, that stuff stops happening. I'd be willing to bet he faced as man 1's as he did 5's last year.
  12. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) How many times does he get a shot at the rotation before you learn.. Hes a Bullpen guy. He's had a whole..what 3 starts? Neal needs another pitch to add to his repertoire and he'd have a shot to be one heck of a starter imo. That being said, he's way to valuable to take him out of the bullpen, he's to damn good there to move him around.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) The Box Card Set that you can order off the sox website is pretty good. There are 55 cards in it, half are highlight cards and the other half are player cards, with one giant team card. I just have to figure out a way to put these in a frame. They are a great snap shot of the post season highlights. Very nice buy. Awesome. That's one of my hanukah presents, looking forward to seeing it.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) There's no way FLA would accept JUST McCarthy for Willis IMO. Correct.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) He's prone to having s*** second halves, last year was different but that does not change his prone status. The guy has been in the league 3 years. Twice he's done it, once he hasnt, I don't know if that makes him prone to having bad 2nd halves.
  16. For the record the guy had a 2.91 era in the 2nd half last year. In the past he's had trouble in the 2nd half of the season, that was not the case this year.
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Kenny said he wasn't interested in Pierre. Pierre is now a Cub. Kenny could have beaten the Cubs' offer if he really wanted to. It seems to me that he is confident in Brian Anderson. The Marlins seem to only want arms right now, or atleast that's what it looks like. They got two pretty solid prospects and a meh 5th starter type. After trading two pretty good arms to Philadelphia I'm sure kenny didnt want to give 2 or 3 more up, does not mean he wasn't interested. Every news outlet in the world was reporting the sox were in on the talks for Pierre except for Kenny himself, a guy who doesnt like people to know what he's up to.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) It is good in the sense the Cubs gave up nothing, but look at Pierre's history. He only walks around 40 times a year and with the exception of a year or two, has an OBP of .330. Pierre has had an obp twice under .350 in his career. That's the exception not the rule. Pierre is a damn good leadoff hitter who just had a down year last season, he's an absolute great fit for the cubs. Very solid move here by Hendry.
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) I guess Kenny was really telling the truth. No, not at all.
  20. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) pretty good deal for them it appears... although the last cubs pitching prospect who was traded to FLA.... well he goes by the name of Dontrelle Willis.... but he fills a big need for them... good move by hendry Very good move.
  21. Cubs land pierre. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2250647
  22. I really hope Carl kicks ass wherever he goes. He wasnt a superstar here but he did his job. Was also fantastic in the clubhouse and everyone loved the guy. Thanks for everything Carl and good luck.
  23. Honestly, the more I think about it the more I like giving Juan a shot in the 2 hole. I loved Tad there last year but obviously the sox think they can get more out of him lower in the order. Juan has just been awesome when he's had a job to do, he obviously concentrates a little bit more. Give him a job to do nearly every at bat, while seeing more fastballs, add to the fact that he's a pretty damn good bunter, and I think it just might be a good move.
