Give it up for Reggie Miller
Reggie's one of those guys you hated as a bulls fan but respect the hell out of him as his career winds down. He's a great player and one of the best clutch shooters ever. Great career Reggie.

Garland turned the corner?
QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) At Garland's spot in the rotation, he'll have the opportunity to win more games. He did face an ace in Radke once, but even he's pretty inconsistent from year to year. I'm not trying to take anything away from him, because he's pitched extremely well. But the combined ERA of the pitchers that he's matched up with so far is 5.84. Well it's not like Garland has been winning because the pitchers he's faced have been bad, he's thrown 3 solid games. He's actually faced 3 pretty good pitchers so far in: Radke, Pineiro and Ledezma, though not all of them have pitched that great as you pointed out.

Garland turned the corner?
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) One big difference this year over last, is Garland has that power sinker back. I don't know if he changed a grip, has a different motion, or has a piece of sandpaper with him, but his sinker has great 12 to 6 action this year, which is making his fastball look faster, his straight change dangerous, and his curve ball even looks like that sinker, except it has a much tighter rotation when he throws it. There is no doubt that his sinker has much more movement then it has in the past, however I think another reason for his success so far is his use of his changeup. He seemed to rarely use that pitch in years past and when he did it was hanging right there, this year it's biting down and away to lefties and it's making him much harder to hit.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) According to the Trib notes, Harris is going to start in place of Iguchi today. Good time to get Willie some ab's, give Gooch a day off against a right hander with a nasty slider.

AL Central
QUOTE(MinnesotaBoSoxFan @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) The AL East seems to be rejuvenated by the Blue Jays and Orioles, and of course the Red Sox and Yankees. The AL West will be competitive while containing the 2004 AL and NL MVPs. Here's the question: with the White Sox and Twins poised for strong seasons is it at all possible for the AL Wild Card to come out of the AL Central? MinnesotaBoSoxFan out. IMO I definitely think it is. I did pick boston to win the wc but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Minny or the sox win the wc.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) well the one thing against Bonderman his 2 wins were against the royals and i dont think he did too well in his start vs the other team. Cleveland hit him around a bit in the first but he settled down after that. Bonderman is a very good pitcher who dominated the sox late last season, it should be a great pitching matchup.

What About This Series Coming up?
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Ledezma/Garland is going to be a good one tonight. Ledezma always seems to pitch well against us, and Garland is pitching some of the best ball of his career right now. This has the potential to be a two hour 1-0/2-1 type game. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) I completely agree. I expect this to be a very low scoring game. Meh, what the hell do we know.

4/20 Games
QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) BARONS 5 Jacksonville 4 W-Tracey (2-0) L- Thompson (0-1) Sv- Jenks (6) Tracey 6 IP 5H 1R 1BB 7K's Thompson 5IP 5H 5R 3BB 5K's Good- Some Great small ball today with Josh Fields getting a stolen base along with Reyes. Clutch hitting from Darren Blakely and Andy Gonzalez who is playing real well. Josh Feilds pickes up extra base hit #2 with a ringing double of the left feild wall. Sean was lights out with a slider and great change and 94-98 MPH fastball had great command today. Barons now on 7 game win streak and are 9-3 overall. Bobby Jenks closed out the 9th with a good inning of work to record save #6. Bad- Owens, Young and Gray continue to struggle I think Gray will lose his starting job to cory haggerty who is really play well having good at-bats. Notes- Game was almost decided by a blown call by 1st base umpire Rio Cortesio who for some reason ruled a ball of the top of the wall a Home-Run but lucky that Bobby Jenks came in and shut it down Hey, bham how has Jenks looked?? Just by his stats it seems like he's been pretty good after his first outing.

Garland turned the corner?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Ok I'm going to hold you to that. Garland will have improved and being the #5 starter will have taken the pressure off, but he'll inevitably still have some outings this season where he looks like the Jon Garland of old. I think Garcia and El Duque (if he can stay healthy) will still have better numbers than Jon. I agree with everything you said.
