  1. Blah, this makes me angry, all the sudden that 6th spot doesn't look so great anymore.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Played two random exhibition games tonight against a buddy and lost both. My impressions....... -- MUCH better game play -- I know WHarris has been b****ing about the tag plays, but we found them to be 10x better than they were last year. I liked the improvements in that regard. -- Hitting is difficult... I am in a slump already -- I like little things like more contact, the foul balls are more realistic, etc. -- base stealing is much more realistic..... last year it was next to impossible to get thrown out. -- someone commented about leadoffs. What I found is that after you extend your leadoff the first time, your runner goes back to that point the next pitch, so you are already way out there -- we played with manual setting on getting back to a base on a pickoff attempt. Makes things very difficult but more realistic. I got picked off twice because my mind drifted Does anyone else play with the pitch cursor, strike zone and hot/cold zones turned off? It makes it a b**** to hit, but it is realistic. I found hitting to be more realistic in that there were more singles and line drives than last year. It seemed most of the time hits last year were ground balls or deep drives. Not much fell in front of the OFs. I enjoyed the improved, more realistic gameplay, but was frustrated with the hitting. The good thing is that I don't get hit much either, so the games are always close. That's all I can think of for now. I haven't even dabbled in the owner mode yet. In both prior mvp games that's exactly how I've been, I can't hit worth a lick but I'm great at pitching, so far with this game it's the same thing.
  3. QUOTE(doUrememberwhen @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) Long time reader 1st time poster. I need some help with my fantasy team, well actually one quick question. Would u take Luis Gonzalez COL over Angel Berroa KC. What other sleepers might there be for me at middle infield? If you're asking from a draft stand point and your not in a league with many sox fans, you'd probably be able to land Iguchi pretty late.
  4. Health, Health, Health, Health.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I like that the strike zone is always not dead on, it can be a ball and called a strike. Pretty cool. I agree it's pretty cool, except when you lose on a called 3rd strike 6 inches outside
  6. Agreed, the frisbee is absolutely awesome. I sucked in my first game though, lost 3 to 0 but in the bottom of the 9th with scott on 2nd, Cleveland intentially walked Iguchi to bring the tying run up to the plate in the form of Frank Thomas, problem was I got a called 3rd strike that was wayyyyyyy outside. Anyways this game is fun as hell.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Yes he is. I don't remember what it was for. I think it was something pretty petty though. Ben didn't do time, you guys are thinking of Caron Butler.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Yep. So am I.. I was addressing her Paul is the "face of the Sox" comment. This is jmo, but it seems among sox fans these two are equally popular both of them are very beloved. However if you go national I'd have to say Pauly is more recognizable right now, once again jmo.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) If gordon keeps doing what he is doing. Can you still sit him? I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Did I say they should? Nope. I was explaining why it was there in the first place, I didn't know any sound was with it, none showed up on the Flash. Well, that thing should be removed anyways, probably the worst avatar there has ever been at soxtalk.
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Yeah, the Tribe were 80-82 last year. Man, I feel like an idiot, I didn't read the whole post and I thought he was talking about the sox.
  12. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) This is a team that will probably finish below .500 again this year Again??
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Me thinks putting Rowand in RF is very dumb. But I think he'll be in center to start the year, we haven't even played a damn ST game. Well, considering the one spot we know Aaron isn't playing is rf, I agree with you, that would be dumb
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) Just some tidbits here; That would be awesome if Iguchi can hit .290. How great would that be if El duque is actually fully healthy for once, man it would be nice to have him in the rotation for the majority of the year.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Santana, Radke >>>>> Buehrle/Garcia It's debatable between which 1-2 is better but there is no way imo that santana and radke is a great deal better then Mark and Freddy. Obviously Johan is superior to Mark but Freddy is a better pitcher then Brad. Radke has been very inconsistant in his career has a higher career era then Freddy, Freddy is younger and still has a chance to get better because of the type of stuff he has.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) Interesting news here from Ozzie; If true, this is a dumb idea. Juan batted .264 against lefties with a .302 obp, while batting .293 with a .340 obp against righties. If Ozzie wants to bat scott 2nd against lefties, gooch should be leading off imo.
  17. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) You all need to lay off of the White Sox Kool-Aid. Anytime you have Frank Thomas on the shelf and you've lost a Maggs and a CLee, you're..... more than likely..... going to go down in power rankings. These White Sox fan sites have become eerily similar to Cub fan rantings lately. Haven't you heard? This is the Cubs' year. With the exception of PK and arguably Dye, this line-up is full of hit-it and run-it-out types of guys. The Sox should be down in the power rankings. And lets not write the Indians off before '05 starts. They finished..... what..... 3 games back of the Sox last year? And, I hate to say it, but the Indians should only get better. b****, b****, b****, b****, b****. Go complain about Jerry some more because that's all you seem to care about.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) I'm glad that we picked up AJ Pierzynski for the blazing speed he brings to the table. And, I'm sure as hell glad that Iguchi doesn't have any power whatsoever. Oh yeah -- Uribe and Crede, no power there either. Rowand? Yeah, he's a grinder and a slasher, he's a hit it and run-it-out type of guy. But hey, with the exception of Dye, Konerko, Pierzynski, Everett, Iguchi, Crede, Uribe, Everett, and Rowand -- our whole lineup up is full of hit-it and run-it-out type of guys. Great assessment, Killa! BTW -- Where've ya been? I guess you didn't believe half of us in saying to give the offseason a chance to get started before you started b****ing. Haven't seen much of you, lately, though. Funny, isn't it...
  19. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Look at the lineup. Look at the All Stars? I think we have you numbered there.... But yes these mean nothing. But I think my Indians will be at least 2. I have to give the Twins my #1 for now. They have it 3 years running. You know you don't know much about baseball when you compare teams by power rankings and the amount of allstars teams have.
  20. QUOTE(ISF @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Carlos Lee outproduces Albert Pujols.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Thanks Santo=Dorf, but I found a pic. Great job knightni
  22. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) I don't know about hte Sabean comment. Don't they win between 90 and 100 games every year? We should be so lucky Barry Bonds, take him off that team and they're absolutely awful.
  23. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) LOL! Whatever... :rolly Maggs came into the league almost exactly one year before Drew. Career stats... Drew: 127 HR, 373 RBI, .287 BA, .904 OPS Maggs: 187 HR, 703 RBI, .307 BA, .889 OPS Maggs has had 3807 career ABs in just over seven full seasons. In contrast, Drew has only had 2415 ABs in just over six full seasons because he can't stay healthy. Unless Maggs' knee condition is beyond repair, he'll continue out-produce Drew over the course of their careers. I'm not saying Drew is automatically going to be better then maggs, however he arguably had a year that maggs has never accomplished, you can't just assume that maggs will for sure have a better season.
