  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) It's a joke how he even tries to compare the Cleveland bullpen to ours... I'd take one of their relievers, that being Bob Howry. And he'd be the last righty in our bullpen to make our team. Talk is cheap. April Fourth -- Bring it... That day seems so far away, I can't fricken wait for it to get here.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) ok, dont get me wrong, im just as big a frank fan as any of you... hes my favriote player and will always be... but, has anyone ever wondered if he used steroids... i know he has publicly detested them, but that dosent mean much.... im just posing a question, not picking a side then... just bored and stiring up the pot Not a chance.
  3. Told ya he wouldn't let you down Ryan. Great job Goldy as always.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) That's right Rowand, first step if admitting. Ha, I hate the team but there is no denying they are one hell of a team. Even though I do dislike them I enjoy watching them play. They're a great team.
  5. Congrats Illini fans. It pains me to say this but they impress me more and more each time I watch them play.
  6. This is just sick, Illinois doesn't miss.
  7. Illinois looks real good, Dee is playing awesome.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) You guessed wrong. Ha, doesn't surprise me if it was you.
  9. Ya, it definitely seems like to me she gets tossed up in front of the hoop.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) You cross that bridge when you come to it. You have options of trading veterans for other needs, etc. Agreed, if that happens it's a good problem to have and Kenny and Ozzie would have to figure out what to do if it comes to that point.
  11. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Keep trying RS made 1 bad trade when he was the GM.. 1 KW, so far he has made 1 good trade.. Keep trying. 1 Good trade huh?? The colon deal, getting Marte, getting Olivo, Uribe, Garcia, just to name a few.
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) How about no promotion at all? Except for the usual boos and chants, we don't need to feed his ego anymore. Agreed.
  13. QUOTE(silver and black @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) dumbest. comment. ever. And i have made some dumb ones.... Dougly, you have to change your avatar that mug makes me sick.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) It was the #9, 7, 5, 3, and 1 play on the SC top ten. That was ridiculous, absolutely nuts.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Hopefully it's Burnitz. I think that's who it'll be, I just don't want it to be Huff, I like and respect Aubrey to much for that.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Still, though... If his pitches were so straight, wouldn't he have gotten lit up in AAA too? I'm not trying to compare the majors to AAA, but would Felix have gotten hit a little harder at Charlotte? I mean -- his K/BB ratio was sick -- and in a good size of starts, too. I'll just say this. I realize his stuff isn't as electric as one would like. But -- he has good control. And I know that didn't show that in the majors, but he's got control. When you're able to spot a 91 MPH fastball where you want it, that's a huge difference. He also has a real good changeup, too. If a guy can spot his low-90s fastball, as well as change speeds good enough on his change (which is what I happen to believe Felix did at Charlotte), he can start... And Jim, I know you said he doesn't like to throw inside. I know this isn't going to really represent my argument well, because I'm basically picking-and-choosing what backs up my argument -- but -- I was the Oakland game sometime in late August, early September. IIRC, Felix got hit pretty hard the first three innings. And then -- for God-knows what happened, but something clicked. I commented to my brother about it, but he was throwing up and in, backing the hitters off the plate, throwing low and away, and hitters started looking silly up there. I saw a totally different pitcher up there, one throwing with confidence, one throwing really, really well. And, I was in the LF/CF bleachers, so I had a real good look at his pitch location. I'm not saying Felix is going to end up amounting to an ace or even a two in this league, but honest to God, I believe the kid can be a good three/four -- and I'd tell you that if I was looking you straight in the eyes, believe it or not... Keith, you make some very good points, I'll say I agree with some and I disagree with some. Like I said the thing that bothers me the most about Felix is how straight his pitches are. You brought up how good is changeup was, he hung that pitch a lot while up in the bigs--maybe because of nerves, maybe he was just overthrowing causing him to hang it a bit more then he normally does. Felix obviously has good control although he didn't display it in the majors. His fastball is so straight that he's going to have to be absolute pin point to be successful in this thing and you know what he's proven in the minors that he could be. I think eventually he'll turn into a decent number 5 pitcher once he relaxes a bit and gets that control back that he displayed in the minor leagues, jmo.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) They have 10 days from what, last Thursday to do something with him. So I'd expect to hear something late this week or early next. I am in the big time minority here but I hope they can get him signed to a minor league deal. He was not that good (wild) for much of the year and at the beginning he wasn't healthy, did not have his velo. Even his wife said he wasn't all the way back, met her in Tucson. That game he threw vs. Detroit really stuck in my mind, I watched him very closely. I realize one game is not the be all end all. But this guy is not afraid, he is a bulldog. Granted it was Detroit but they couldn't touch him, his fastball was live, the slider nasty and the offspeed stuff did the job. Big plus ... he throws inside. Sox need more guys like that. Grilli doesn't give in. I know most here hate this guy but I hope they work out a deal to keep him. He is starting pitching insurance. I am 100 percent with you. I like Grilli's stuff and as of right now I think he's a better starting pitcher then Felix is and I've been saying that for quite a while. As you mentioned he hasn't been completely healthy and that allows for some loss of velocity, however when you're not fully healthy sometimes you don't have the control you'd normally have. Jason's fastball has some life to it and if he can locate a bit better I don't think he's that bad, either way he'd provide some depth as a starting pitcher, imo.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Sorry to bump such a sad thread, but I thought I would add to its list of thoughts/prayers/concerns. My best friend from highschool just found out the tumor on her heart, previously diagnosed as benign is actually a form of stage 3 or 4 lymphoma. It came as a huge shock to all of use, she's only 22. So, if you could please keep in your thoughts and/or prayers and send her some healthy vibes that would be much appreciated... Definitely, I wish her the best and hopefully everything turns out for the best.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) You see the trade someone came up with on bbb? BULLS TRADE: Chris Duhon, Adrian Griffin. UTAH TRADES: Raja Bell, 2nd round pick. TRADE ACCEPTED We would need him if we faced the celtics in the first round. Pssh, dukies=untouchable, seriously though I think Duhon is Skiles type of guy, I don't think Chris is going anywhere.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Thing is...what can we trade. Read my first post Honestly, I think they stay put.
  21. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) agreed. unless the get an offer they can't refuse, than they might, but highly doubtful. Frank Williams for KG????
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) I sent Rob a little piece of my mind. I'll post his response if I get one. Hopefully I do because I titled the e-mail "I really liked your Least Improved Teams List" just so he would open it. What did you say in the email???
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Let's assume Maggs signs with Detroit. Let's also assume (and I know some of you think his leg will fall off the second he takes the field, so just humor me here) that he plays 155 games and puts up Maggs type numbers for them. How much better does he make the Tigers? A 2nd place team, a division winner, no difference? I'd say a healthy maggs possibly gets them past the Indians but no where near the sox or twins, imo.
  24. LOL, in his little thing about the a's he calls dye a "pretty good everyday player" but fails to mention his signing with the sox :headshake
