Is it though? Even if you want to throw away 2020, it's not like Eaton's bat was miles better than Mazara's in 2019. Eaton was a tad above average offensively in 2019 but as I said was trending downward even before 2020. Even if you want to look at this thing optimistically the best you can expect is an average offensive player who can't really play defense anymore. Add in the clubhouse issues and it's just not worth it.

Adam declined offensively every year he was on the Nats. Add in the fact that his defense has gone bye bye and I'm not sure what there really is to like besides the fact he's not Mazara.

This could absolutely be the case with or with out Dane. We literally have 0 idea what Dunning is at this point. I know people liked what they saw from him in a super small sample size but that's all that was, a super small sample size.

It's literally 1 guy though(yes I know Weems was in the trade) who was going to be our 4th or 5th starter moving forward. It's not like we traded 3 or 4 guys from the core of this roster to get better for a year.

I haven't read through this whole thread yet and I get in general why some people are against this deal but I really like it. You get your top 3 starter with out giving up Kopech, Vaughn or Crochet. We weren't going to pay top buck for a starter so if we were planning on competing for a World Series this year, I think this is the best deal we could have hoped for especially with Dane's ceiling not being extraordinarily high.
