Joc to Cubs
Eaton doesn't hit lefties decent. He sucks less than Joc does but he's still not good against them. Engel should be in rf against lefties whether we had Eaton or Joc.

Joc to Cubs
Joc was just a better overall fit for this team. I'm not going to be pretend I'm furious about this but it's annoying. The Sox offense while obviously very good last season was middle of the pack in OPS and wRC+ against RHP, Joc just so happens to kill right handed pitching and will probably be a better defensive right fielder than Adam in 2021 as well. The fact that he signed for cheaper is just annoying like I said. Would have been a real nice fit for this team. Oh well I guess.

Ya this was a misstep by Rick. Not much else more to it.

Madrigal 3000 hits "very reachable"
Cocky is good for a lot of professional athletes but I don't think he sounded cocky at all in that interview. Just saying it's doable and he believes in himself. If he didn't that'd be a much bigger issue.

Good for Nick. Love the confidence.

Keith Law's Top 100, 2 White Sox make the list
Ya the Law hates the White Sox thing has been debunked plenty of times. The dude just happens to have a different criteria than most.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Nah, he just declared for the Royal Rumble.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Wainwright was also good last season(sample size I know) and Lester wasn't so there is a difference here. Saint Louis is cheap as hell but not bringing him back for 5 or 6 mill makes 0 sense.

Michael Brantley to the ASTROS 2 years 32 mill per Nightengale
So he's just going to fall off a cliff at 34? Could happen but I don't know that and neither do you. The contract puts him right around 25th or so in the league for total value which is pretty close to in line with where his value has been as a player for the last 6 years. People have had it set in their mind that some of these big names were going to get a lot less than they're worth because most teams don't want to spend money but the Springer deal is far from a bad one.

You don't even know the full terms on the Brantely deal and the Springer contract is not a bad one.

the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
We traded for Todd Ritchie when he was 30. Not sure how or why his name was brought up in the first place but it's a pretty awful comparison.

Musgrove to Padres
Good for San Diego.

Nice to see you around these parts, sir!

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
Ya, having too many starting pitchers isn't going to be an issue. Even if it were best case scenario, that shit will figure itself out. Like most, I love the idea of Kluber if he's healthy, hope Rick can make it happen.

I just came in here to say that I put ketchup on my hot dogs. Thank you for your time.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
I think that's completely fair.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Nah, we're not all allowed to agree on anything on this site.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Colome seemingly is the rare guy that can out pitch his peripherals/stat cast numbers. He's done it for a while now so I don't think tossing out his era/save numbers is a fair thing to do. That said, Hendriks is better, he's quite possibly the best reliever in baseball right now and is the much better bet to keep on that path where as I think there's a good chance Alex starts to regress.

I think this is one of the Grinder rules.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
As of right now every proven major league starting pitcher we have is gone in 3 years. Hopefully we’re not at our peak but we sure as hell may be. I keep saying it but the time to make something happen is absolutely right now because as much as we all hope we’re building some type of dynasty(we’re not), we have no clue what this roster is going to look like in 4 years.

That would sure be nice.
