I think it's fair to wonder if COVID has sapped Nomar the way Yoan said it's done for him. That said, Mazara was a bad player before this season and there's no reason to believe he'll become a decent one next season.

I actually really liked the format for the 10 teams. I can deal with 12 but to me 16 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much with as many games as there are in baseball(even if they shorten the season a bit). Also, they couldn't have done this when the Sox were mediocre?!?

TA always impressed me in the minors by how he always seemingly struggled for a bit and was able to adjust at every level. Proved to me that not only was he a super smart player but also mentally tough to get through some of his struggles. As other have said, I for sure thought he would regress offensively while improving defensively this season but damn this is something. Kid is a superstar, fun as hell to watch and seems to be just a great overall human being. Special player and person.

Every team who gives out these contracts goes in knowing they are probably going to have some bad money on their hands come the last few years. If you want to get these star players it's what you have to do. If the Sox want to keep playing poor and not force the issue this year then we're going to have a whole 3 year window with Yoan and Gio on this team. If you're the front office you have to make yourself uncomfortable at some point.

I always love when people say stuff like this. In the history of sports, every fan base to ever fan base does this as a whole, it's not specific to the Sox. The difference being, if any fan base has the right to be pissed it's White Sox fans. And that's fine and dandy(and obviously true) but at some fuckin point you have to overpay to get one of these guys. We're going to keep pushing this shit back because we refuse to pay an extra 15 mill on a player and all the sudden Yoan and Kopech and Gio are hitting free agency and we didn't open their window to win soon enough.
