  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:03 AM) Just curious, is that because of my homerism, or Dwight's petulance on the court? Ha, it had nothing to do with you. Definitely Dwight and the media as well.
  2. I've had two chances to catch a foul ball in my life: 1. Paul Konerko foul ball in 04 that I actually snagged, pretty cool, still have it sitting in my room. 2. Two years ago, day game in the beginning of June. Pop up literally right to me but directly in the sun, of course I have no sunglasses on so I can't see a damn thing. My buddy jumps out of the way, I just stand there with my hand up hoping for a miracle. The ball hits me directly in the thumb and bounces away as the crowd at the Cell boos the hell out of me. Not cool.
  3. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) I actually used to be really high on Tony Pena when he first came up for the DBacks, and even though I knew it was a lopsided trade from the start, I was excited he was on the Sox. My how things change. He's awful. Totally and utterly useless. I was pretty similar to this. I hated the trade from the get go because I thought Brandon Allen had more value than an average reliever at the time(though I never thought Allen would be a legit major league starter) but I really thought Pena was going to turn it around here, boy was I wrong.
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) Wait...broken shower head? Angry shower immediately afterward to wash away the Sox loss and filth of Billy Koch? Or...? You were also like 12 at that point. Geez. I was 16 thank you very much. And iirc, I had to go somewhere for some Jew dinner after the game, so I immediately jumped in the shower to get ready.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) Lakers and...Thunder? Lakers and Heat actually. I still think the Thunder will win the West because of the Lakers being banged up but I can't see them beating the Bulls in a 7 game series. If the Lakers can get almost all the way healthy, they can still obviously beat anyone. And I've flip flopped on the Heat a couple times this season but overall, even though I don't think they have that killer instinct, I just don't have it in me to count out a team with that much freakin talent.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) I'm sure this has been commented on but I still absolutely hate that the draft is spread out over 3 days. I loved when it was all day on Saturday. Also, ESPN has ruined some of the intrigue by showing the guys celebrating before the pick is announced. Takes away a lot of the drama and mystique of the draft. I agree with half of this. I actually like the fact that the draft is more spread out as I personally couldn't sit there and watch a whole day of it as it bored the hell out of me after a while(though I can understand why some would love it). Completely agree about ESPN ruining the "surprise" though, definitely takes something away from it.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Opening day 2004 in KC, punched a hole in a closet door in my college apartment. Hole in the wall, broken smoke detector and broken shower head for me that day. Once I "calmed down" a bit and realized what I did, I made sure to get out of my moms house and head over to my dads pretty quick ha. I'm pretty sure Steve saw the damage in my college apartment, though those were mostly from SIU basketball games, but same deal.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) I'll never be that cocky in the playoffs. We had a hell of a time against Indiana. I think we match up well with Atlanta, but you got to play the games. Basketball is the one sport where I can be extremely cocky at times. There are two teams that I think can beat us, the Hawks aren't one of them.
  9. I love what the Saints did. The Bears for once made the exactly right move as well. I'm looking forward to the 2nd round tomorrow, there's still a lot of 1st round "talent" left on the board.
  10. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Don´t mean to kick a fella when he´s down but DBAHO should really take his signature quote down... I chuckle every time I see it. I started to hate the Magic so freakin much this year but I do feel bad for DBAHO.
  11. Well there's one team eliminated that the Bulls had no chance to beat in the playoffs, phew. Seriously though, this is why it was so important to get the 1 seed, we should be able to handle Atl in 5 or at most 6 games while hopefully Miami and Boston can beat up on each other a little bit.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) Yes, but Fairley is a beast and when that type of talent falls to you at 13 I think it is generally a mistake to pass and you can usually find solid corners in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Beast Dts? Not so much. Most definitely. The Lions have compiled some elite, elite talent. They're going to be freakin scary.
  13. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) As badly? I don't think any of us has slammed our wrist against a bat after fouling a ball off. Well at least I haven't. I HAVE thrown a bowl of popcorn against the wall though (thanks Thornton). I think you'd be surprised. Not punching a bat but the amount of holes punched in walls around here because of the Sox is probably quite high.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) I've been posting here for years. And some usernames are easy to, like, know the meaning of. Rowand44? That's pretty easy to figure out. Can somebody explain to me what a Kalapse is? Or like a Knightni? Is he a Knight Rider fan? Was does Tru mean? He didn't pick those letters for nothing. What does JPN mean? What the hell does Jeckle mean? lol. I mean he's not here anymore. Maybe somebody knows? I want everyone to explain their user names in which the meaning is not obvious. I've been obsessed with this for years. Pssh, my name is creative as it gets.
  15. I feel like selling low on Seabrook is just a bad idea.
  16. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) It was a good one, forgot about that... Now that play was unbelievable for a 2b to make. About a billion times better than Iguchi's routine, trip over myself and make an easy play look fancy one...
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) The fact that a crappy defender made a relatively easy play shouldn't make it the better play. It was a significant play, certainly not a great one. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) I also don't get it. On top of what you said and the fact that it was more of a mistake by Giambi not to slide anyway, did Jeter grabbing it even speed the play up? That ball looks, to me, like it's getting to the catcher either way. Eh, there's no way Giambi is out if Jeter doesn't flip that ball, it was a great play and a series saving one.
  18. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) It doesn't matter how long that series lasts. Game 1 will be on monday. Ahh, thanks. Had not checked that yet. Disregard what I said before than.
  19. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) I think him doing what he's supposed to be doing makes it even more impressive. That play happens pretty often while the infielders just let the ball roll to the catcher, allowing the run to score without a second thought. As for Giambi being arguably safe, I think the ump got it right, but it's as close to a tie as you can find on a play at the plate. I've seen that play a million times and I still have no clue if he was safe or out.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) I think anyway you look at it, a seven game series with the top points team in hockey is an acceptable way for this team to go out. Yeah, you want to win the Cup, but realisitically, did anyone think that this team was capable of that, especially after seeing their 82 game block of work? This version of the Hawks just wasn't nearly as good as the 2010 team. No, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. Vancouver was the better team but the emotion of this series was just so crazy that losing a game 7 like that was a feeling that I have not had many times as a sports fan.
  21. As awful and frustrating as Boozer has been, we're going to need him to win a championship, so hopefully he gets healthy and gets his s*** together. I'm also hoping that Orlando can win game 6 to give the Bulls bodies a little more time to heal. I really couldn't care less who we play next round as neither team will give us too much trouble but I want the extra rest for our guys.
  22. Iguchi's play is definitely the most overrated imo. Buehrle's play was the best, Uribe's plays were obviously the most important.
  23. I came so close to busting out in tears when that OT goal went in, would've have only been the 2nd time I've cried because of a sporting event. That was devastating, still hurts like hell.
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) On the road, I think goal one is even more crucial. You don't wanna give the Canucks' fans anything to cheer about. In fact, a goal one from the Hawks could easily turn the Canucks' fans against the team. Yeup, exactly my thought process. That building is going to deflate if we can manage the first goal. If they put one in the back of the net first though, everything changes.
