  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Wait, I don't get it? Weeks is a Brewer. Getz is a Royal. He's saying we would have only been better off getting rid of Beckham if we got a player like Rickie Weeks back in return.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Jesus Montero! Make it happen, KW! Not happening. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Does signing Mark to an extension help us retain Danks? No.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) I don't understand why you are so obsessed with posters from other message boards. It's so simple to avoid what they are typing, and way more simple to not give a s***. Well reading opposing teams forums is always a fun thing to do. That being said, just by scrolling through theirs, it's the same as any other board, you're going to have some complete morons and you have your intelligent fans.
  4. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) This year, Rose took 19.7 shots a game and made 8.8. Last year, he took 17.5 and made 8.6. Essentially, he made the same number of shots per game and took two extra attempts. How is that a good move? The step forward that Rose took offensively this year was at the line. He averaged 2.4 more FTA per game this year and averaged 2.5 more makes, which is a pretty significant difference over the span of a season. If he continues to be aggressive and get to the basket, there's no reason he shouldn't continue to become an even better player. Settling for 4 threes a game when you're a below average outside shooter isn't going to get it done, and that's my biggest gripe with him. On top of that, isn't the talent level around Rose this year is better than it's ever been in the past? So wouldn't it make more sense for Rose to be shooting less and getting more looks for his improved teammates? All I've said is that Paul is a better overall player RIGHT NOW. Rose has potential to be a better player than Paul in the future, but he's not at that point yet. Well that's the thing, in the first 3 quarters, he does set up his teammates and he does it a lot, especially in the first 3 quarters. The problem is, as good as this overall supporting cast is as a team, it's still not exactly the most brilliant bunch offensively. Derrick gets these guys open looks all the time(especially early in the game) but the 4th quarter is his and that's where he takes over the game and usually wins it for his team and that's where he's evolved the most, he'd be more passive in key spots in years passed but this year he knows when he needs to be extra aggressive and just will his team to a W. This is the main reason why he's head and shoulders above the other pg's in the league right now. This is stuff that stats will never pick up on but it's beyond obvious when watching these games.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Felix > this thread I'm sorry. He offers up legitimate analysis. The Rose homerism around here is nearing realgm status. The dude is f***ing awesome. Felix has admitted this. He's a fool because he'd rather have Paul? I don't think so. Do you really think you should be the one calling people out in this thread?
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) You guys act as if it's mutually exclusive. Efficient players can be closers. You don't have to chuck up 25 shots a night just to finish off a game. Once Rose realizes this and stops settling for the long contested threes, he'll take his game to a much higher level. With the cast Rose has around him, he has to be taking shots and that's why he does so. He hasn't done this in years past but part of him taking his game to the next level has been him(and most likely through Thibs telling him to do so) shooting more so than he's ever done in his life. And as for Paul, one of the reasons his stats once against looked pretty and efficient last night is because he literally sat in the corner for the last 3 or so minutes of the game and didn't even demand the ball when he gave it up, just sat around and allowed his teammates to lose the game for his squad. That's when I can't stand having my best player take a whole 11 shots in a game, he needs to be demanding of the ball in the last few minutes when he's clearly his teams best player, instead he became a spectator when his team really did have a legit shot to win that game.
  7. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) duncan keith is having the game of his life tonight Not sure how he's went from being a complete corpse to this but keep it up.
  8. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) That's because there's really no point in doing it. Do I think Paul is a better player than Rose? Yes, and one game doesn't change that (It's worth noting that his game was still incredibly efficient). Is it worth making that argument in here, where people clearly have no interest in listening? No, not really. Rose was bad tonight, there's no denying that but when the Bulls needed him most, he stepped up and made the play. Paul might have been "efficient" last night but when the Hornets needed him in crunch time, he literally disappeared. Whatever, you're right on the fact that there's no point in arguing this anymore. I'll take Derrick's ability to finish off games and everyone else can have Paul's efficiency.
  9. That was one awesome period. Keep the pedal to the metal and step on their throats here in the 2nd and lets get this series back to the UC!
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) Me too, especially with all these righties we've faced. Don't be shocked if he sits tomorrow as well against Verlander. Jason, in an effort to get more offense, do you think the Sox would consider calling up Viciedo anytime soon? That seems like the type of move we've made the last few years. I'm obviously not Gage but I'd say it's way too early for that. Dayan needs to get his bat going in the minors before we make that kind of call imo.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Just like with our fielding, it's not possible for Rios to play worse. I wouldn't mind seeing him maybe bat 2nd to try and get him more fastballs. The faith is dwindling, but he's here for a while and not going anywhere so him getting going is important for a lot of reasons. Actually, this was something that popped into my head recently as well. With Beckham and Dunn scuffling, move Rios and CQ to the 2-3 spots(obviously Ozzie has already made one of those changes). Rios is far from an ideal 2 hitter but it might be a decent way to shake some things up.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) I think you can make a legitimate argument that Tulowitzki is the best player in the game, or at the very least, the most valuable when considering present day production and the likelihood of success into the future. He hasn't even hit the typical prime years yet and he's already this good. Personally, I'm stoked that he's in the NL West. Absolutely.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) It's so important for our offense to get back to "holy s***, what a steal Rios was" instead of "holy s***, what a bad move Rios was". Really hope he keeps the momentum going from last night. Like you said, Quentin is swinging well enough to carry this offense if people get on in front of him. I can honestly say I have no faith in Rios. Had that feeling going into the season and just still do, he's obviously going to be better than this but overall, I expect him to have a below average year at the plate. And if he does indeed do that, he needs to stop letting it effect his fielding.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) the Tulo deal is a good comp in that Braun doesn't even play a premium position. I wonder if we are looking at the next Travis Hafner here? And Tulo plays elite defense at that premium position.
  15. Complete PR move(which I in no way condone btw) if I had to guess. They lost Sabathia(and yes I know he was only there for half a season), they're about to lose Fielder, they just wanted to lock one of these stars up for a while and they overpaid Braun to do so.
  16. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) So with dunn currently hitting like kotsay, this is basically the same crap offense we had last year Nah, cause we have TCQ instead of CQ right now. Big difference.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) LOL. I saw he had the Rose picture up and I was wondering WTF was wrong with him? Ha, this is a good way to scare some people now I suppose.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Pfft, despite being dead for over 8 years, the guy in my avatar is still probably healthier than yours. Well that made me laugh(in a sad way), well played. On that note, it's probably time to change my avy, maybe I'm a jinx to Peavy.
  19. Waddle and Silvy and Carmen, Jurko and Harry are the only shows I can stomach. I haven't heard much of the Afternoon Saloon in a while but I really do love Waddle and Silvy.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) Eh, it'd be cool either way. I'm sure under both circumstances, Val would've found a deep respect for wite. I figured you'd be a fan. I really didn't mean to do that but hey, it just shows that I'm still more powerful than you.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) He was Doc Holliday, Iceman, AND Batman. The dude would have no problems wrecking my s*** if I crossed his path. Ain't no way I'm doing that. So I was trying to quote Milkmans original quote to you and I accidentally edited it, ha. So what you quoted isn't what he originally said, sorry about that.
  22. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) We need Omar to play 2B more than 3B. Beckham needs the rest more. It's time for Beckham to prove that he's not a bad baseball player.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Look, jerk. You already got on my bad side by not dropping the perfect plex on Val Kilmer. Let's not take this to the next level.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Someone needs to tell Dan Hudson that baseball games start in the 1st inning, not the 2nd. 4 ERs today and 9 of his 13 given up have been in the 1st. He's the new Freddy Garcia apparently.
