Build Around Phil Humber
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 7, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Much of Ramirez' value was the production he gave at the salary he was being paid. After the extension, a lot of the luster has gone off him. He was the best hitting and fielding ss in the AL last year. Now, the AL certainly isn't loaded at that position but Alexei is extremely value with just how little depth there is at the shortstop position in baseball.

Build Around Phil Humber
QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:01 AM) If Sale is truly in the rotation plans for 2012, he should be in the minors now, you know, starting. Whenever we officially throw in the towel, Sale definitely needs to be sent down to get stretched out and Dayan needs to be playing every day in the majors. As for the thread title, no one is building a team around Phil Humber though he's definitely earned a shot to keep starting the rest of the season or until he proves he's not good at baseball again.

The goal from here on out
QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) I'm not saying start the firesale now, but once it's apparent they won't be getting to .500 or within 6-7 games by the break, then they should make whatever moves they can. I don't even know who they can move. They probably are capable of moving Jackson, Danks, and Floyd. Maybe Buehrle---is that 15 mil thing for 2012 still in effect? Quentin is movable. But they still have these gems on the books after this year: Dunn- 3 yrs/44 mil (not saying it's a bust contract yet) Peavy- 1 yr/21 mil (including the 2013 buyout) Rios- 3 yrs/38 mil AJ making 6 mil in 2012 Gavin is probably one you hold onto unless you get blown away by an offer. Add Thornton to your list and as I said, you can get some nice pieces back if done right. And I'm talking about a firesale on May 7th, I officially hate myself.

The goal from here on out
I hate to admit it but I've officially thrown in the towel on May f***in 7th. I'm ready for a firesale and if it were to be done right, we'd be able to bring some nice talent back in return, unfortunately Kenny is the last man for this kind of job.

Dunn, Thornton, AJ, Rios, Beckham, Oz, KW
AJ and Rios were pretty predictable, Dunn and Matt have to be defined as shocking as any players struggles so far this season though, not just that they've been bad but how terrible they've been.

Crazy KW almost struck earlier, Hudson was in 1st Peavy trade that was
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:14 AM) •Diamondbacks right-hander Daniel Hudson was part of the ill-fated trade between the Padres and White Sox in May 2009 that was vetoed by Jake Peavy, according to Dan Hayes of the North County Times (via Twitter). Peavy later accepted a trade to the South Siders at that season's deadline, but that package did not include Hudson. Instead, Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Dexter Carter and Adam Russell went to the Friars. Hudson was later dealt to Arizona at the 2010 trade deadline in exchange for Edwin Jackson. from mlbtraderumors.com Just when we thought it was a salary dump alone (with a serviceable Richard heading to the NL West), we apparently almost gave up our best pitching prospect as well. Nice. Even if it was Hudson alone, it would have been way too much with Peavy's contract. This has been known. EDIT: And for the record, Huddy was far from our best prospect at the time when the original deal went down. That's why KW changed it up the 2nd time around and literally gave up nothing to get Jake.

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Ya, this is becoming quite the dilemma. Actually, after taking a whole 30 seconds to think about it, it's really an easy decision, put Edwin in the pen when Jake comes back. That being said, I'm sure that wont happen.

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Seriously? He's not just giving them a chance, he's matching one of the best pitchers in baseball. Ya, this is becoming quite the dilemma.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) The Bulls are a WAY better team with a healthy Carlos Boozer. That isn't even a question. Yes QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Bulls - injured Boozer > Bulls + injured Boozer A healthy Boozer is an asset we greatly need. Yes

Kiss of Death? KW denies coach firings are imminent
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) Buehrle is just not good anymore. I'll take the guy with pretty darn good stuff who is pitching like a stud now over the guy who can't throw above 87 MPH. Buehrle is done being a solid pitcher, at most now, he is average. He is due for a typical Buehrle outing when he gives up 8 runs and his ERA balloons to over 5. Buehrle will finish right around his career norms, he's just fine.

QUOTE (Real @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) anybody else getting the pacquiao Mosley PPV besides me? No. I love boxing but there's no way I can justify spending 50 bucks on a ppv for this sport unless it's Manny-Mayweather.

QUOTE (The Baconator @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) I think we got Space Jammed- someone stole all of the talent from the team. Someone call up MJ. Does that make Juan Pierre, Mugsy Bogues and Adam Dunn, Shawn Bradley?

QUOTE (Cali @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) I love how the Red Sox will just put guys who stink on the DL. They did it last year with Dice-K. Is obesity a legit injury? Ya, I went with a fat joke.

All In My Ass
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) I have a question. How come for the mods you guys have different colors? You got red, orange, I think DBAHO is pink. How does that work? If we tell you, we'd have to kill you.

Damn, she is trollish on The Killing. That first picture literally scared me. Yikes.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) I disagree. Pierce and Allen weren't quite defensive stalwarts previous to Thibs getting them to buy into that system on the Celtics, and he got them on board. I feel like he could convince anyone at this point, given the team the Bulls have right now. I'm not just talking about defense.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:57 AM) Also, if there's 1 piece missing on this Bulls roster (other than a competent starting SG), it's a 2nd scorer who can drive or create his own shot. Right now, Rose is the creator and the only one. I love the Bench Mob, but there is a reason CJ Watson is a backup. He settles for a lot of outside shots and he ins't necessarily a sniper from out there. A guy like Jamal Crawford, Ben Gordon or Jason Terry would do wonders for the Bulls. And obviously I'm looking forward quite a bit, but those 2 late 1st round picks could be extremely valuable either with picking players or as trade chips. I'd love to be able to get a Nolan Smith, but I don't think he'll last that long. Then again, it could be possible to trade up. Thibs would throw Jamal Crawford or Ben Gordon off the team after the 1st practice. We definitely could use another creator but no thanks on those two. Anyways, looking big picture, still really unimpressed with the Bulls performance last night.
