  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 19, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Brian never posts in PHT. That's pretty much why he goes unnoticed. Kyle and Greasywheels are in the same boat. All three are some of the best posters around. 3 awful humans right there.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) I know some use FIP and xFIP as statistical measurements of how good a pitcher "has been," but I don't think that's right. I think what that says is "this is how good a pitcher has been on his own, independent of defense/luck," so it's fair for them to use it, I just don't happen to do so. They are obviously very good statistics, but more so for telling a story about the future, not the present. For this reason, when determining who has pitched "the best" I still use ERA and WHIP. I will look at their peripherals and their sabermetric ratios and whatever else to determine if it's for real or if they are actually good or if there's room for improvement, but the fact of the matter is, ERA and WHIP tell the story of what actually happened while FIP and xFIP tell the story of what should have happened. A lot of times, when the phrase "should have" is used, the word "but" is used too. I often think of Javier Vazquez. Therefore, I have no problem saying Sergio Santos has been better than Craig Kimbrel this year. That doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have Kimbrel nor does it mean that Santos will be better all year. But thus far, Santos has been better, and it's certainly arguable that Santos has been the best reliever in all of baseball thus far. Regardless of luck and defense, Santos has yet to allow a run. I'd say that's worth a vote. Spot on.
  3. It's ok everyone, Mark Gonzales just tweeted: "Juan Pierre out for early bunting practice." So no worries, we got this...
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 19, 2011 -> 07:46 AM) I know what the metrics say, but that's 4 blown saves now for Kimbrel. Stop blowing the lead kid! Ya, Kimbrel has been the most dominant reliever around but it's hard to say that he's been better than Sergio.
  5. BTW, Rose was terrible tonight, like this is the most frustrated I can remember being with him so I'm not trying to defend his performance whatsoever but you just have some odd criteria there, badger. Like I said, I absolutely knew this was going to be a long and difficult series so I'm not sure why I'm letting myself get so worked up over 1 awful game but this one is really bothering me for some reason.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) lol The bandwagon? Im saying if we want to say Rose is the best player in the world and not get ridiculed, Rose needs to play like it. Not saying he wont, just thats what he needs to do. Plays like that are what he needs to do. Im not sure what the problem is with saying that Rose needs to take over when the offense struggles Well you can take LeBron and Wade out of that category as well for their performances in game 1. Hell, we have no superstars left in this league if that's your criteria.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) Who else would even be willing go take a shot? Everything else has been deng or rose trying to force something with no ball movement. At that point, Bogans has to play. I really hate to question Thibs because he's been so damn good this year but when Korver can't make a damn thing all we're doing is giving the Heat mismatches to play into. You have to make the necessary adjustment there and we just kept riding Korver and Miami took advantage. Overall that's just a terrible game. I never thought this series was going to be easy but it's still frustrating as f*** to lose a game like this.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oeg7outzag If you think that woman is "fat and ugly", then I would hate to know what you think of women who are actually obese. Yeah, she is thicker than she used to be, but if this girl somehow repulses you, then you seriously need to check your standards. You must all be dating supermodels. Well she's fat and ugly to me, don't know how else to put it. She was good looking when she was younger but now a days she's bigger and uglier, I am not a fan. And I do not like bigger women so it makes sense.

    QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) uh.....what? She's fat and ugly.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) sounds like his PR machine is starting some spin already, if they lose, well LBJ was sick, if they win and he plays well it was a triumphant performance. With a lot of other players I wouldn't have even thought this way but with LBJ this was seriously the first thing that came to my mind.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) We made an elaborate spreadsheet with quantitative rankings in 18 categories. Invites were decided based on numerical outcomes. Pitty her aunt got left out, but her GAR (gift above replacement) just really dragged her down. This literally made me lol. Well played sir.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) I'll give Ozzie some slack for stacking it with lefties, because Masterson's has been great against righties and not very good against lefties, it's actually pretty significant. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...ar=2011&t=p Was actually just about to post the same thing but there's still a few oddities about the lineup, like Beckham being in instead of Alexei and I think everyone is just tired of Pierre leading off. Besides that, after taking a second to think about it, I understand for the most part the thinking here.
  13. Well I guess Ozzie doesn't think these 2 games are important...

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) Christina Aguilera's boobs is the best show on TV. She is quite ugly now a days.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 17, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) It's more of a statistical anomaly through small sample size. He may end up having an OPS+ of 200, but there's no way he ends up with 1.300+ OPS this year. He's not quite that good. Ya but what if he is?

I hope some of you got to watch Conan last night. Galifinakis+Conan+Richter=gold.
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 17, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) With the new CBA, Deng isn't going anywhere. His value remains highest to the Bulls. Who knows what the new CBA is going to bring but that's definitely a ton of money for the Bulls to be moving. For me it'd all depend on what we'd have to move to get Dwight, Noah would obviously be an extremely movable piece in such a deal but it'd be intriguing to see what else Orlando would want. Howard is a monster and worth giving up a lot for but I'm not tearing about this Bulls core for him.
  18. Taj/Noah isn't going to get the Magic to bite, that's for sure so it's useless to talk about. You're going to have to start with Deng/Noah(it's going to cost more than that obviously) and if you're trading Deng away you really do start to change the whole dynamic of this team.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Which would get you the New York Knicks. Rose and Howard>>>>>>Melo and Amar'e but your point certainly remains.
  20. BTW, Thunder in 6.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 16, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) When I say that I mean that I think he has a chance to be special. Not just good. That's fair. I'd 100 percent agree.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Michael Pineda is making a believer of J4L. See the benefits of identifying and then signing legitimate talent from Latin America? The Mariners might in time have the best 1-2 combo in the majors and didn't need a draft pick. He's just now making a believer out of you? That kid is freakin loaded with talent.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) Juan Pierre: Too big, too fast, too strong, too good. You should be banned for messing up a Stacey King quote. I am angered.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) I went back and skimmed through the original McCarthy/Danks trade thread. It didn't seem as bad as people are making it out to be. People were rightfully confused and many said that the team wouldn't do well in 2007 and that Ozzie's personal bias against McCarthy must have played a role in the trade. There were a few people that were overly angry, but I would put them well in the minority. I don't think I've ever been so angry about a trade as I was that one. Oops...
  25. QUOTE (Felix @ May 16, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Delusional people itt Whatever dude. Maya hasn't proven a damn thing at the WNBA level. Sure she was a great college player but so was Christian Laettner back in his day. Yes, her athleticism is impressive(set the record at the combine with a 9 inch vertical) and she was undeniably an amazing college player but until she proves that she can play at the professional level, your argument really holds no weight.
