Buehrle wins 2010 P Gold Glove
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) He won this award on opening day. I'm not joking. He absolutely did. He definitely deserves this award but that play is what actually won it for him, for sure.

Buehrle wins 2010 P Gold Glove
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Pretty much. And this is sorta off-topic, but there was a great article on ESPN (one that I can't post because it's premium content) breaking down the Sox' ineptitude defensively this past year. According to Baseball Info Solutions, the Sox were 5th worst in baseball with a -30 runs saved total. And the positions of 1B/3B/RF produced a staggering -65 runs saved. That boggles the mind. We ain't ever gonna close the gap on the Twins until we start catching the f***ing baseball. CQ has no business in RF, and unless we can sign Adrian Beltre (no chance in hell of happening), Morel deserves first dibs at 3B. Mark Teahen has no business playing a significant role on any team with hopes of contending. f***ing dumbass extension. I'm done now. Well if you're counting Morel as the starting 3b at this point, every one currently thought to be in our starting lineup besides CQ(and hopefully Q isn't the every day rf this upcoming season) is at least above average defensively, so there's a start.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) I can't wait for 24 hours of college basketbal next Tuesday with SIU playing at 9am. It's going to hurt to not be able to go to that. That would have been so much damn fun.

Buehrle wins 2010 P Gold Glove
Buehrle's list of accomplishments is getting kind of ridiculous. He's had a pretty decent career I'd say.

Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Lee is still an upgrade there regardless. He's easily as good as if not better than Konerko at scooping and is head and shoulders better range-wise. I agree.

Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) What makes you think Lee is done exactly? He put up an .850 OPS with the Braves after he was traded. He had a terrible first half and put up a .298 .373 .516 .888 in the second half. I'd like to know how you are basing your evaluation of Lee to state that he is "done". And he said with regards to range where Konerko is one of the worst in the league at 1B. He said "especially with regards to range" meaning he's talking about the whole package here.

Offseason gameplan
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) I don't know. With their respective injury histories and salaries, Sizemore and Quentin might be closer in value than first glance. Grady has had more than one really good season, plays better defense, is a better baserunner, etc. He still absolutely has more value than CQ.

Offseason gameplan
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) Wow. adding Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, and Grady Sizemore? Yeah, I'd call that an offseason alright... Ha ya, pipe dream at it's finest right there.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) Do they have talented players? Yes. Is the majority of their "talent" overrated because they are the Cowboys and the media kisses their ass on a weekly basis? Yes. They shouldn't be 1-7, but if they hadn't been pegged as Super Bowl contenders at the beginning of EVERY season, despite not winning a single playoff game in 15 years, this wouldn't look as bad as it does. And I thought Collinsworth made a pretty good point last night. They've changed gears so many times over the years - offensive coach, defensive coach, game day coach who relies on coordinators, etc. Nothing has worked. Maybe the problem isn't coaching but the atmosphere and type of players they bring in. They won a playoff game last year.

QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 03:05 AM) I disagree with that.. go look at Oklahomas schedule that year, they weren't that great.. and even so Boise had to pull everything out of their ass to win that game and congrats to them.. Alabama was undefeated and lost their chance to play for a National Title in the SEC title game, they clearly didn't wanna be in that Sugar Bowl against Utah.. What im talking about is the Hawaii/Georgia Sugar Bowl.. I wanna see Boise State or TCU play a school like that.. I don't wanna see them play eachother, and I don't wanna see them play the scrub Big East school that makes it.. I wanna see them play Ohio State.. Im pretty sure OSU isn't going to the National Title game, and if Oregon DOES that means that OSU will be in the Rose Bowl against one of Boise or TCU since its their year to take the non BCS conference qualifier.. I think what we have seen is those teams get favorable matchups That OU team that year was a bad call away from having 1 loss that season and at least being mentioned in the National Championship picture. And that Alabama excuse is just garbage. Not to mention both TCU and Boise this year are better than Boise from 06 and Utah from a few years back.

QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 02:02 AM) I doubt it. I wouldn't be fooled by what Cleveland did to New England today, that almost never happens and would be shocked if it did again.. Also, how can Jerry Jones NOT fire Wade Phillips now? They have been run off the field three games in a row.. tonight they clearly showed that they have quit.. at least for the sake of a possible spark that can prevent them from getting throttled every week, you think he would owe that to the fans.. Detroit is actually a very fun team to watch when Stafford is not injured though. They still shoot themselves in the foot way too much but that team has some upper level young talent and they're an exciting team to see every Sunday.

Vizquel Back
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Funny how a lot of us figure Vizquel will be equally productive next season yet most people figure a guy 10 years younger in Paulie is about to hit the brick wall where he suddenly declines. Just.Pay.Paulie. Taking age out of the equation it's still a given that PK is going to have a worse year next season then he did this season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I'm not spelling his first name Suh attempted a field goal in the Detroit/NYJ game. He barely missed; hit the uprights. (Hanson was hurt earlier in the game). It was a PAT, hilarious though. Welker also got a PAT attempt today, he made his though.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I thought it was a hard but legal hit at first. Then the angle from the endzone clearly shows 42 for Philly hitting his helmet to the back of Collie's head. Appeared to be more of an accident than head hunting but it has to be a penalty. Hopefully it's nothing long term. That was not a penalty.

November LIST ideas?
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) wait wait wait, as in the town still allows Haloween to take over the town by closing streets and allowing a giant street party or they stopped the over the top, college kids from three states crashing everywhere, shutting down?? That. The strip has been shut down on halloween for a while now. Hence why I SIU has an unofficial halloween the week before now a days.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Worth noting right now is that the 2 guard spot isn't really performing that well right now. That said...a while back someone (KC?) wrote "The era of the undersized and scrappy Bulls is over". I think that's already proving fair. Not enough minutes to go around in the frontcourt...I'm not sure I'm going to complain. I still feel like the frontcourt logjam may provide the makings of a trade come Feb. While I'm certainly not going to argue that, it should be a position where we don't need much offensive production from once Carlos comes back as long as Bogans/Brewer can continue to play solid defense on the other teams best perimeter player. Agreed. Good point.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) Id imagine when Boozer comes back it would make Scalabrine a permanent bench guy, I think Asik will still see the court some as backup C and Gibson always in foul trouble. Wasn't even talking about Scal. Rose, Watson, Bogans, Brewer, Korver, Deng, JJ, Boozer, Taj, Noah, Asik
