  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) You guys should hear/see the auto dealership voice guy in southern illinois. His name is Dan something or another, and his catch phrase is "You come and see us" with a really thick southern drawl, the guy is just DRENCHED in spray on tan His commercials are so annoying. Im sure Rowand44, Brian, and Sonik22 know exactly who I am talking about Ha, I just saw this. Ya, Dan Walters. The car commercials down here are the worst things on earth, they're god awful.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) WITESOX or WITE if I live in a state you live in, and you take those, I will hunt you down Good thing no one lives in North Dakota.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) Yes it is It definitely is but a lot of bullpens have a ton of ifs, that's the beauty of a pen I guess you can say. I really like the depth we seem to have in the pen now, we have some nice options.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) I'm not ready to give Carlos Quentin the starting LF spot. Fields and Crede can both start. Quentin will be starting, my friend.
  5. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) Ditto. Still iffy on the starting pitching, but this team could actually could surprise alot of people. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) They need to make at least one significant addition to the rotation before I get excited about the 2008 Sox. The bullpen seems to have been addressed well - better than last off-season, anyway. The offense should be better than OK with the addition of Cabrera and Swisher, although the leadoff spot is still a concern. But without AT LEAST three reliable starters, I just can't get too pumped up. Yup, I'm in total agreement. I'm getting excited cause I think we can be competitive but the rotation definitely scares the crap out of me.
  6. This is the first time I've seen a full show but have any of the women completed the hand bike? They always had trouble with that thing when it was at the start of the eliminator in it's first go around, I can't imagine many being able to conquer it, ditto with the treadmill thing.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) The Sox need a power hitter on the bench? As of today two of Uribe, Crede, and Fields will be on the bench. Neither Crede or Fields will be bench players. Crede will either be starting or gone and Fields will either be starting or in aaa(better be starting).
  8. Love it. I'm actually starting to get excited about this team, that scares me.
  9. Last year I definitely went with the no shaving until SIU lost a game and it went nearly 2 months there. The beard was out of control.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) BTW, Row, our agreement is working out. NCAA championship, man.
  11. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) Crud, just noticed Wednesday is the annual Sure Loss for SIU. @ Mizz State. We won there last year. Two in a row would be nice. I'm sure we'll play horrible though.
  12. Depending on what happens with the Crede/Fields situation, I think at this point we're looking at: OCab ss Swish cf Thome dh Konerko 1b Dye rf AJP c Crede/Fields 3b Quentin lf Richar 2b
  13. Well we're still better than the 2 worst teams in the Valley. So that's good news. Mini Rant: We've lost on two buzzer beaters this season and we also lost a game where we blew a 9 point lead in the last 4 minutes. We win those 3 games like we should have and this whole season is completely different. Obviously, good teams usually find a way to win those types of games but it sucks to think about what could have been. sigh.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) I think he was a bit surprised that the puck came back to him, really. It bounced around a little from the pokecheck and came back to him with everyone else out of position. He did all the work to create that play, and in a huge situation (down a goal in the final minute of play) - it was a true "playmaker's play". Ya, good call.
  15. If Danks and Floyd produce decently then we have a shot. That's a huge IF though and I just can't see it happening. We really improved our offense and I think our pen is going to be pretty solid as well but once again, the rotation scares the hell out of me.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Why not include a vesting option? I think that's fair. But if he wants more than a year guaranteed then we just have to move on.
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) I still give the slight edge to Toews, just because the goalie screwed up the pokecheck on Nash's goal. Both spectacular goals, though. Both really cool to watch. Nash almost seemed like he was surprised that the net was so open at the end
  18. Kenny has forgot more about hockey than most of you guys will ever know. Not trying to be a jackass but it's true. That's all I have to add. Nice to see the Hawks get another W. Hopefully they're starting to get themselves healthy.
  19. Bull. They can't have him.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) What is, realistic? After this off-season, I really am starting to put less and less stock on what players are making. As you say, "11 million over 2 years would be quite a stupid risk" Why? Because it's too much money? If the Sox are comfortable giving Dotel 5.5 a season, why shouldn't I be. With as bad as the pen was last year, Dotel might be the biggest boom or bust signing on the market, and if the Sox are going to compete this season, they are going to need some guys go BOOM, so why not? I would love this deal because it's only a 2 year deal. 5.5 is a lot of money for a reliever who has been injured for a while now but it's only a 2 year deal, it's not a contract that would be haunting us for a few years. It would also add more depth to the pen, having Jenks, Linebrink, Thornton, MacDougal, Dotel, Wasserman, Logan, lots of options there.
  21. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) I'm shocked that people actually want the fatass, over-the-hill Colon back. I think I'd rather take my chances with someone like Garcia over Colon. When you have Contreras, Danks and Floyd in your rotation, an insurance policy certainly wouldn't hurt. Colon most likely is done but if you can sign him on the cheap, I see no reason why you shouldn't.
  22. So what's going on?
  23. Cut Curry, sign Tatum.
  24. QUOTE(rackemup @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) Both Damaso Marte and Billy Koch had tremendous game blowing ability Brandon Mcarthy - I swear the rangers visited this site daily and never watched his game footage in order to give up danks for him. seriously, thanks soxtalk for over hyping this trash pile Damaso was fantastic for two years. Brandon's era was almost a full run better than Danks' last season.
