Hey maybe the Cubs will finish like 3 games above .500 now.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) What? They made it to game 6 of the nlcs.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) I'd like a case of beer when you get a chance to head to the store (if you have a license). I knew 82087 was going to be relevant at some point I'll do that when you get married.

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 03:03 AM) HAPPY MEANINGLESS BIRTHDAY At least he still has a cool bday left, you're just old.

Finna happy bday, Tony.

QUOTE(michelangelosmonkey @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) HE's 26, 12-16 lifetime with an ERA of 4.6. Not much of a return on your $5 million from seven years before. Adam Wainwright 13-10. And that's if you get to hand pick your pick from the best pitchers of that draft. I'm not saying drafting is pointless. I'm saying: Jake Peavy 15th round Roy Oswald 23rd round Mark Buehrle 38th round Santana, Zambrano--not in draft Brandon Webb--8th round Brad Penny--5th round. I'm not saying 1st round is worthless...I'm saying it's hardly a guarantee that these guys will be any good. Go look at what they said about those guys in 2007. Same what they are saying about Porcella...nobody knows...so we shouldn't be slamming the Sox because they were SMART not to pay $5 million for this crap shoot. A 4.6 era will get you more than 5 mill a year on the fa market right now.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) Now that, my friend, is one hell of an answer. I thought you'd like that. We're using the figure that out when it comes way. I'm sure someone will just offer to buy it, maybe we'll sell it, maybe I'll have you buy it for me , who knows. I'm not too worried about it right now. BTW, my step brother bought the exact same tv as you.

Michael Vick Accepts Plea Deal Per ESPN
Rowand44 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) A lot of it was about Vick basically being innocent, and all of this is really being done to make an example out of him. It was pretty ridiculous, and he had some crazy lines about feeling bad for Vick because he has to go from eating filet mignon everyday to bologna sandwiches. I like bologna sandwiches. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) This Ray Buchanan interview is insane. I heard the very end of it. What did he say? -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) How do you split a TV when you are done with it? It's like the Stanley Cup.

Will Paul Konerko pass Frank Thomas's Sox HR record?
Rowand44 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My gut reaction was "not a chance in hell," it's really not that much of a long shot though. I still don't think he will but he's definitely got a chance if he stays here after this contract is up. -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) Maybe he will get better, but paycheck aside, if Uribe's performance is "garbage", the same can be said about Fields. I don't think either have been garbage, but I do think while he's not the greatest, Uribe is way undervalued around here, and Fields at this point is overrated because he's hit some homers. I would have no problem with Uribe being replaced if it were someone who actually was better. Greene is not better. Furcal may be, but is he $8 million better? Tejada is better, but Eckstein? Fields is putting up a .755 ops as a rookie, that's pretty damn impressive. And yes, those 14 homers in 245 ab's is pretty freakin good as well. Uribe on the other hand has an ops about 100 points lower than Fields and while Fields should and will definitely improve, Uribe seems to be declining. Those two really don't compare offensively.

Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
Rowand44 replied to fathom's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) Cubs are going to win the division by more than 5 games. I'm of the opinion that I want to see them playing the Mets in the first round. That's a great offensive team if Alou/Beltran are healthy. I highly doubt the Cubs win the division, yet alone by 5 games. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) Overwork? Half the pitches he throws are changeups. And it isn't about the record, it is about getting the complete game, finishing what you've started. This is almost as bad as the time as Torre took out Wang in the ninth when he had bid for a complete game. It's not like changeups don't take toll on your body. I have absolutely no problem with what Gardenhire did when you have Joe Nathan there to close out games. It's not like he brought in David Aardsma or something.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) With the Dye signing, you won't have to see uribe around much longer. No way is Uribe worth $5 mill. His option will be declined. Problem is there isn't much out there in the fa market and we certainly have nothing in our farm system to replace him. Kenny is going to have to get creative there, hopefully in a trade of Garland.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) I believe the last 2 Halloween movies, "H20" and "Resurrection", both came out in August of their respective years. I dug H20, but Resurrection was brutal. I liked H20 as well, never saw resurrection. I'll definitely be seeing this new Halloween but I got a hunch that I wont like it.

Fill the 43 holes we have in the lineup and add a reliever or two. The bullpen at least somewhat is starting to look better so hopefully that shouldn't be as big of a hole, but you just never know with relievers.
-
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Where are you staying in C'dale? I'm at aspen court, they just built 'em. It's off of grand, they're quite amazing. If you come down here, definitely look into them your sophomore year(freshman year you obviously have to stay in the dorms).

Driving to class is quite a b****.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) If I was Santana, I'd have punched Gardenhire in the face if he tried pulling me out of the game like that. YOU NEVER take the ball out of your pitchers hand like that. He threw 112 pitches, no need to overwork the best starter in the game to try and tie some silly record.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) Besides lining up like lemmings at the campus bookstore, what are other venues? Between my son and I we are looking at a sweet $1,000 next week in text books. Definitely don't buy the books until your son gets all of his syllabuses for his classes. There will most likely be classes where he doesn't need the book(s) at all. Besides that, I really don't know what to tell you, buying books sucks.

Should baseball go back to the old four division format?
Rowand44 replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
No. No expansion, no going back to the way things were, leave as is.
