  1. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) picking by position only, I'd take the 1B. By the time he would be projected to be big-league ready, Paulie could be moved to DH. We've had/have plenty of OF prospects in the system. Same with Pitchers. Assuming Fields is the 3B from 2009-on, then I would think 1B/2B/SS/C would be position needs. You don't draft by position. You take the best player available.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) As bad as it sounds, which of the two are better for our future -- a top three pick, or finishing up strong in a useless season and ending up around 7-10? If believing in this makes me a bad fan in someones eyes, then so be it. Judging from this thread many agree with me. Oh I'm with you and have been for a while when it comes to this topic. Losing is much better for this franchise at the moment.
  3. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) What if he signs with Boras and the Sox don't take him? What if we end up with the 2008 version of Matt Bush? Sorry, I just can't root for my team to lose so they can gain a draft pick. Well winning doesn't accomplish anything at the moment. At least with a high pick we get a shot at a "special" player.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) Why in the world would you want MacDougal and Thornton? What in the world have they shown you? Relievers are so inconsistant from year to year and both have proven before that they can be successful in the majors, not to mention that they both have terrific arms. I'd like Mike and Matt back next season as well.
  5. Keep them L's a coming, boys.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) 15 out of 18...and counting. I can't believe ken williams still has a job. Well believe it, he's not going anywhere for a while.
  7. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) To compare the struggles of Richar to Ventura is not even in the same ballpark! Get Real. Well ya, Ventura was much worse.
  8. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Uribe has seriously pissed me off this year. I was a big Juan Uribe supporter but I'm tired of him.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) Apparently ISU is going to use the Bulls intro music at football games... Ghey.
  10. I've never been a huge fan of Lebron but he's been fun as hell to watch in this tournament.
  11. Illinois has offered Brandon Paul.

Damn man, good to see everything is alright.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) If someone opens up a "Love for Cardinals" thread, they should be banned. Maybe I'll do so, just because. Man, could you imagine a series between the Braves and the Cubs right now, it'd be like the two best teams ever against each other.
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) ^ Haha. I'm living with my 3 best friends down here, so all is good.
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) I cried at the end of the 03 season. When we got swept by the twins in minny and the camera showed mags with his head down in the dugout, i lost it. That's the best sox team i've ever seen. 05 was the best Sox team you've ever seen and ever will see. That 03 season absolutely killed me as well, that team was the most talented team in baseball but just like many years with that group of offensive players, everything just kind of failed down the stretch. I didn't get over 03 until 05.
  16. Kenny Williams also put one of the best teams of all time onto the field. That shouldn't buy him much more time but it will buy him a bad year.
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) I don't even really watch the games any more. I have the TV on, sometimes, to see the score, and that's about it. If I'm not getting frustrated, I'm bored off my butt. I'll watch when I can but I certainly don't make a point to watch the games right now. Nothing worse to watch than a ton of untalented rooks and veterans who couldn't care less about playing right now.
  18. Yes and it's not even close.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Cardinals down 1 in the loss column. I'd be pretty surprised if they don't end up winning that division. They might end up at .500 but they'll win the NL Central.
  20. Vazquez has been pretty awesome this year. This was his first bad outing in a long freakin time, it's going to happen at times. I'm starting to despise Chris Young and I don't even have anything against him.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) don't mind the fact that Garland's best ERA in a season is (slightly) better than Contreras's. And that Jon Garland has never finished a season with an ERA above 5 - though that's in jeopardy this year - whereas Contreras is assured of his 2nd season with an ERA over 5. If you consider Contreras dominant, you consider Garland dominant. I see no way around it. Garland never had a stretch like JC did from August of 05 'til basically his injury in 06. JC was one of the better pitchers in baseball for about 5 months of baseball, Garland has never been that good.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) White Sox have a chance at history tomorrow No team in the last 50 years (could be longer, I can't easily search before then) has allowed 10+ runs in 5 consecutive games. After today, the White Sox are the only team in the last 50 years to allow 10+ runs in 4 consecutive games twice. 9 teams have done it once. Since 2001, Atlanta is the only team that has scored 10+ runs in 4 games in a row. And they did it twice, one 4 game streak this year, and a 5 game streak last year. Boston now joins them. Wow. Well this is quite the historical team we got on our hands this season.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) I hope he actually gets a real chance at this, not one friggin game. Play him there a few times a week the rest of the year, and let's see if he has even a chance of being good at it. Agreed.
