Classic video game memories
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) I have no idea why, but I always loved when the game was over, seeing the newspaper come up with some lame headline... Lol, ya. How about the homerun trots when they were getting near homeplate? Haha, I definitely need to find my super nintendo when I go back home.

Classic video game memories
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Ken Griffey for SNES remains the greatest sports game ever. Too awesome. U. Josh owned all. Ice Hockey for NES gives it a run for its money though. Was U. Josh, Frank? I loved how teams had different themes for their players names. Good times indeed.

Classic video game memories
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) I know this was in a game, and I think it was that version of Griffey, but you could run the outfielder into the wall and you'd hear this thud and the guy would go down. It was like the Pods in Oakland play from this year but only funnier. Yup, that was definitely from that game. Oh man, I'd love to play that game right now.

Classic video game memories
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) The old NHL games were the s***, too. Fighting was amazing. I was always either the Penguins or the Hawks -- the Jagr/Lemieux combo was just too good to pass up. Honestly, even if you don't like Hockey, the video games kick ass no matter what. I've always loved Hockey and Soccer video games.

Classic video game memories
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) I know we have the catch all thread, but I figured this could attract folks who don't play current games. Anyone wanna share some memories of games they played out? Or how about games that pissed them off but they kept trying to play it anyway? I'll start.... I don't have much patience so I never had a lot of the latter, but back in the day Blades of Steel was the **** on my NES. If I wasn't playing that I was playing some Jordan vs Bird and failing at the dunks, Tecmo Bowl. Almost forgot, SUPER PUNCH OUT~!!~!!!! Who didn't love that game? Raise that hand nice and high so we can all point and laugh... Super punch out was fantastic. Ken Griffey Jr. baseball for Super Nintendo might be the best game ever. What about Shaqfu?

Mariners Looking at Dye; Sox Looking at Otsuka
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) According to what I found online, Otsuka is a FA after this year. Ya, I believe he is. WE'RE GOING TO MAKE A RUN AT THE DIVISION THIS YEAR. GUYZ MIRITE?!?!?!?

Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) I bought it. Gameplay is excellent. It plays better than any Madden title I've played. It's a lot of fun trying to build the ultimate legend team. Each legend is put into a different level and you can only have so many legends from that level(For example, John Elway and Barry Sanders are my two legends from the top level. Then you have 9 other legends from the other two levels and the rest of the team is filled by generic players). So there's definitely a lot of strategy involved in building a team. The game is kind of bare bones content wise. There's only a season mode, no franchise mode or anything like that. The core game is very online based. Would you say it's worth the purchase? And Marino better be on the top level.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 7/25/07 (L)
QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) The thing is, Dye, Iguchi and Contreras' value isn't getting any lower at this point. And all is quiet on the trade front, so it's really best to wait it out at this point. We waited far to long to try and dump Contreras me thinks. We probably at least could have dumped him for a bag of balls 4-5 starts ago, now we're stuck with him for good. Waiting got Kenny in a lot of trouble with JC.

Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) Oh, we will. Just wait until this upcoming weekend. I've set expectations so high, I can only expect Williams to come through. We're not going to receive any thing of value at the deadline. I guess I'm the anti you for now.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:42 AM) Fuseilicious? Yea, if this was May. I bet there's a nice golf course somewhere... Ha, I was being sarcastic. I wish I still had that kind of confidence.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
What the poop happened? I left BWW in like the 6th inning, next thing I know I'm watching highlights at a bar and they won. Fuseilicious indeed.

Why do you still watch the Sox?
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 02:32 AM) Rowand would have won the division last year You know it.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1475529 Oh boy. So now what do you do with yourself til school starts? Cry until a new bloons comes out?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) Rowand is insincere. Don't you have some bloons to play?

Javy
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) I suppose compete and contend are two different things, but I still think there might be one too many holes to fill this off-season. However, Williams has proved me wrong before. IMO, if we can find a way to fix the bullpen(which as brutal as it is, can be done) then we can at least be competitive and I believe we can contend. Now, I'm not saying I necessarily expect that, but I do believe that it can be done.

um white sox winner?
QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) Thome 3 for 3, 2 runs, Not worth watching because he didn't homer? He's worth watching as well, and I apologize.

Javy
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Hardest thing to do is find starting pitching. As doom and gloom as it is around here, Buehrle-Vazquez-Danks isn't a terrible core to have for the next three years. Yup. As awful as this team is right now, I still believe we can compete next season. Kenny has some work to do but with our core of SP, it's doable.
-
um white sox winner?
Javy, Fields, Konerko, Jenks. Four players worth watching still. Good job guys.

Javy
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) 1 click, 3 topics...YIKES LOL You can tip me later for cleaning up your mess.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 7/24/07 (DH)Game 1(W)
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) You don't trade Vazquez. You don't trade Garland or Buerhle either. Contreras goes and you use his $10M somewhere else It's going to be quite hard to rid ourselves of JC, obviously that would be the most ideal scenario. One of Garland/Javy is going to have to go and right now, the smart move looks to be to move Jon(I've flip flopped on this). Jon is signed for less years and is going to make more than Javy eventually and Garland would bring you back a very nice package as well

Fields = a cheaper Crede with no back problems
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) One game and seven homers most certainly doesn't mean that Fields replaces Crede. Joe Crede is a superior defensive thirdbaseman and a 30 homers player. Fields is doing a good job, but rebuilding this team for '08 doesn't mean getting rid of Joe Crede. Crede should be at 3B and also signed to a 3 or 4 year extension. Fields should be moved to LF and play 3B as needed. Crede has hit 30 homers once in his career. How can we possibly risk signing Joe to a 3-4 year extension with all his back problems, not to mentionn who his agent is. I love Joe Crede as I'm sure most Sox fans do, but it's time to get rid of him.
