That .340 ba next to Moncada's name is just fun to look at.

2017 NFL off season thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) https://sports.yahoo.com/news/jay-cutler-ma...-160311630.html I'm surprised by the lack of interest in Cutler. You'd think some team with a QB deficiency (49ers, Jets, Browns, etc.) would at least take a flier on him. The Texans would still make the most sense in the world to me. Let Watson sit for a year since you have a SB roster(outside of QB) and let Jay take a shot at it for a year before handing off the keys to Watson.

Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning
QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) Giolito is only 23 and pitchers with large bodies like his often do take longer to develop At the start oi the rebuild we have plenty of time to be patient in our prospects development 22

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) This wouldn't be my pick if we were to acquire something like this for Butler, but man the Bulls looked so good when they were busting teams out in transition. I would be so pumped if they could somehow land Deaaron Fox in this draft. I'm a fan of Fox. Problem is the one skill he's kind of lacking at this point is kind of an important one. If he can develop any kind of jump shot he's going to be pretty nasty.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) Yeah, Hinrich was fine. But I think they were less willing to make that reasonable trade up for Wade knowing that they didn't really have a point guard (Crawford was pretty injury plagued at the time, it is amazing, I'd never have pegged him of all those players to be a 18 something year vet) Didn't everyone at the time think Wade was going to fall to the Bulls anyways? IIRC(which it was in 03 so I certainly might not) people were a bit surprised when the Heat took him.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 4, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Yep. Having a core of Jay Williams/Dwyane Wade/Jamal Crawford/Eddy Curry/Tyson Chandler would have been nice at the time. How would we have gotten Wade? And despite how much all of us were done with Kirk during his last stint here, he was the best player left after Wade in 03 so not sure the Jay injury forced them to do anything.

Nate Jones to 10 Day DL (retro to May 1)
Well that f***in sucks.

The Children are our Future(Sox)
Kinda crazy how young Adams is. Feels like he's been in our organization for 90 years now.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 4, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) I think it's because for some reason, Adam Eaton is criminally underrated. Something like that was always the price for Eaton and some even thought it wasn't enough. I think it's the combination of both. Eaton isn't a name and Gio was a huge name in the prospect world. When you add in the fact we got one other pretty well known guy along with a 2016 1st round pick it just looks bad from the Nats side if you don't actually dig into it more or know Adam like Sox fans do.

So Micker has been hitting the crap out of the ball lately. Be a pleasant surprise if he keeps hitting, he is only 20...

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 3, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) No need to do that. Just marvel at the current NBA as a whole for the time being. We're about 5-6 weeks away from what is shaping up to be the greatest nba finals of all-time. The Bulls, at some point, will get with the times. Can't be this inept forever. You've flip flopped on the Cavs like 47 times this season. Now this is going to be the greatest NBA finals of all time?

2017 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 3, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) mike trout - year in and year out the best player in the majors, and STILL manages to be possibly the most underrated player in the majors. I know that everyone realizes he's the best player in the majors...but do they? this is rhetorical btw Everything in this post makes too much sense ha.

SSS Theater: Avi Garcia
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) 2020. Ya, I'm an idiot. Thought that was the case originally then saw something that said otherwise then figured out it. That's why I edited and re-edited ha.

SSS Theater: Avi Garcia
So if Avi is indeed a big league regular now what the hell do you do with him? He's a free agent like right when we expect the team to take off but he's still only 25. Interesting conundrum.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) True, but I would like to thing relevant here. Moncada has been playing well, but isn't exactly FORCING himself to be called up yet either. His strike out rate is still a pretty significant red flag. He's still sitting just under 1 out of 3 PAs with a K. It's not quite Joey Gallo territory, but you also aren't getting his ridiculous power. Moncada's #1 asset is his speed, which does you no good if he isn't making contact. If Joey Gallo was in the minors he'd still be striking out at a stupid rate, it's just who he is. I've said my opinion 8 million times on this so I really shouldn't be getting back into it but I'll always believe the best way for these guys to get better is to play the best competition. I think it's best for Yoan's development to be in the majors as soon as possible but I know a ton of people are going to disagree with me.

Adam Dunn was just terrible on the Sox
Best player in White Sox history if we're being honest.

2017 Cubs Catch-all thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 3, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Cubs rotation is kind of scary. Arrieta - Has been great but is a FA. Lester - Just 2 QS in 6 outings. More walks, less swings and misses. Lackey - Now the 5th oldest player in the league. Hendricks - Doubling the walks, doubling the homers and a .227 BABIP has aided him to a 4.18 ERA. Smoke and mirrors up. Anderson - Hasn't gotten hurt yet but he sucks now. On the farm, they have Eddie Butler and Williams Perez backing them up. Pierce Johnson is a reliever now. UUUUUUUUGly. Jake has been super meh this year too. Definitely saw the Hendricks regression coming but I think Lester will be ok going forward. Their rotation isn't super exciting at the moment that's for sure.

Ya I'm not too worried about the super 2 deadline personally. If I had my way, I'd get that extra year of control and let him start facing MLB pitching.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 3, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) In a perfect world, I'd like to see him get that K rate down closer to 25% before calling him up. Obviously we all want the k rate to go down but it's not going to stop me from calling him up once May 14th passes. He can continue to get better at the big league level.

5/3 Games
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ May 3, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) I know he isn't fixed yet like we all thought he would be but this is still premature,no? disaster? cmon. It's SUPER premature. Look, the velocity is absolutely a concern and something to pay attention to but it's also not as crazy bad as fathom has been going off on lately. He could be working on stuff, he could be trying to get his mechanics straight or he might just be off to a really bad start. All I know is he's a 22 year old in AAA who has had success in the past and whose breaking ball is at least missing bats at the moment. He's a project at this point but to call him is a disaster is even too fathom-y for fathom.

Man that Moncada homer was something. A bomb to left center batting lefty. That's some impressive pop.
