  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) If I understadn the deal correctly, Vazquez only has 1 more guaranteed year on his contract as well, and 2008 is an option year...an expensive option also. Such that the White Sox may find some benefit in actually moving him instead of having no choice but to pick up something like a $12 million option for a 5th starter. Actually he's arbitration eligible after this season due to demanding the trade last offseason. So we control his rights until after the 08 season.
  2. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) You got anything to back up your opinion? Crawford is only 25, is an all around player, and is the exact kind of hitter the Sox need in the lineup. McCarthy is still unproven and to tell you the truth he didn't look all that great last year. McCarthy is way too valuable for this team. He's allows us to drop 8-10 mill in payroll, he will be one of our best starters in 07 and he's the only real good young starting pitcher we have. Crawford is a very good player but Brandon McCarthy is too valuable to this franchise.
  3. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) So Jarrius Jackson was dismissed from the TTU team for not keeping up with his academic's. Yipee. Yikes.
  4. We're on the eve of Saluki Basketball.
  5. Heilman will not be a good starter.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) The Yankees are not ruling out trading ARod, but want him to ask to be traded. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6124268 In other words, they want to trade him but need him to waive his no trade.
  7. Because a deal is in place this early it almost makes me believe it's the Sox. I just can't see Kenny pulling a deal on Sheff though.
  8. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) I love being right. I told alot of people that Tyrus Thomas is a stud and will continue to be a stud for many, many years broken nose or not. lol, he's a stud cause he broke his nose?
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) I was hoping somebody didn't say that before I went into this thread. It's the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear his name.
  10. Anyone hear the Kerr comment during the game? Something along the lines of "I think chicago fans are getting spoiled, they got the Bears, this Bulls team, the White Sox won the world series last year, and the cubs...oh nevermind"
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) ah, so ignore all numbers and go by your "feelings" I understand. Yup, all the numbers=era for relievers. Neal had better peripherals last season and is one year removed from an outstanding season. He's younger than Riske and has better stuff than David does. Also, Neal's 2004 season was as a starting pitcher, he's not a starter. Neal will be the better pitcher in 07, no doubt in my mind.
  12. The Yankees are reportedly interested in Jeff Suppan. I hope that the Yanks think he's the solution to their pitching problems.
  13. The Price is Wrong, b****
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) DUI DUI DUI DUI lol. How are we going to beat Quincy on Thursday without Tatum? PS, I'll be sure to throw things at Gordon next season if you guys don't buy out that game.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) It's all because Hep and Hardy weren't there. Blah blah blah.
  16. So if IU wins this weekend that means SIU would have defeated a division 1a bowl team when we might not even make the division 1aa playoffs. Good times.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) ummm ok, based on what? Keep in mind that they also dont compete for the same position mostly Cotts 2004 5.65 2005 1.94 2006 5.17 Riske 2002 5.26 2003 2.29 2004 3.72 2005 3.10 2006 3.89 I would say the safer bet is with Riske, and he is definatley a better option than "hoping" someone from AAA will come up and be a good pitcher. Riske also happens to be pretty damn effective when given 70+ innings of work. Cause Neal has more upside and I still think he's going to be a real good long term reliever. Yes he had a horrible year but that does happen with relievers now and then. Like I said, I'll take my chances with Neal.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Yes... so someone can feel proud about their jersey... Hey, that jersey came in handy in Cinci.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Riske is a better bet IMO than those 2 scenarios. I disagree, I'll take my chances with Neal.
