Jeter worst defensive IF in baseball
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) I am not surprised he is the worst and his .771 ops last year does not really translate to an awesome hitter. Meanwhile, Arod and his .965 Ops gets the Rex Grossman treatment and is booed on a nightly basis. ugh, hes an amazing hitter. He had a below avg year for him and still hit .300 with a .363 OBP. He's a top of the order guy, his slg doesnt mean much, so OPS is next to useless. Even so, his career avg OPS is .845 which is pretty damn nice. -

He may be extremely overrated, but he cannot be the worst. And he's still an awesome hitter. -

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 06:36 AM) My favorite part of the article is what KW says about Poreda... "I didn't have him on the '09 roster originally," Williams said, "but I live in Arizona, so I've seen him a few times—and I'm not blind." It really seems that they think Poreda is ready. Like others said, get some people on the phone and see if we can get some solid talent here. This much outside Poreda talk mean they may be setting him up for a trade.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) How can he be a good deal worse than Swisher, Thunderbolt? Even if he doesn't hit (which he will) he will be rock solid defensively, unlike Swisher. He would get on base at less than a Juan Uribe pace, and Swish is rock solid at his actual position-1B

I may be in the minority here, but I dont see how AI makes the Pistons a better team. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) It should be an SEC and a Big 12 team. I wouldn't even have a problem with two Big 12 teams. The Pac 10 freaking blows. USC when they play well is probably one of the top teams in the country, problem is, they dont always play that way. I would say Oklahoma, Texas, and TT are all top 5 teams and wouldnt be upset with any one of them in the BCS title game. -
FYI - GBeck has a blog about playing in the AFL

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) Perhaps you are thinking of DLP televisions, but my LCD tv is fully viewable from any angle anytime. Maybe that's because it's Samsung, which I will go to my grave telling anyone who asks to buy nothing but, but I haven't heard of angles mattering with LCD... that's DLP. You can see it, but LCD's wash at angle, while Plasma is still 100 percent visible. It has something to do with the difference between pixels and the plasma gas tech, not sure the specifics. And my Plas is Sammy, and it f***ing unreal. Do you have yours paired with any other Sammy devices? I would recommend getting a Sammy DVD player as the anynet linking is cool as hell.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 02:13 AM) I really hope Penn State loses sometime. I don't want to see another big ten team in the championship game. Well, if PSU loses to MSU, then sparty gets a BCS birth. PSU isnt all that good, OSU isnt great and they should have beaten PSU. I think the BCS title game HAS to include a Big 12 team, and then either the Pac-10 or SEC champ. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) I dont think your getting the point Im making. Prior to 2004, Wisconsin was lucky to get 1 4 star recruit and 1 3 star recruit. Since 2005 Wisconsin has gotten at least 2 4 star recruits in every class. Thats a vast improvement for them, its basically doubling the amount of talent the system was getting every year. Now they arent a recruiting power house, but they also arent relying on walk ons to play valuable minutes either. [Edit] All that depends on what recruiting service you look at , Scout has them with consistent 4s, Rivals has many of them as 3s. You are right, I dont get it. You said the talent level is going up so Wisco is going to improve, but you keep talking about 4 and 5 years ago. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 2, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) If Orton is out for a long period of time, the season might be over. They can't win with Rex, this offensive line in terms of run blocking, and this defense. I was at the game, and i think the horrific nature of Rex's throws can really be seen live. He is not a very good QB and we better hope Orton comes back asap. -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 2, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) I'll go on record as saying that I think Richard will eventually be an effective ML starter. Ill take that bet. I think he is a pen arm in the majors with sporatic starts at first until he is put into the Loogy role for his career. Half of the guy's effectiveness is deception, which is great when you see a lineup once through.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) Well Rock: 2003: 1 5 star, 1 3 star juco 2004: 1 4 star, 2 3 star 2005: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2006: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2007: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2008: 2 4 star, 2 3 star As you can see since 2003 Wisconsin has gone from 2 impact recruits to now they got 4 in 2008. Maybe they arent flashy OSU prospects, but at the same time Wisconsin went 16-2 last year in Big 10, 13-3 the year before. Those were the senior classes of the 2003, 2004 classes. Now every class has 2 4 star players, so for Wisconsin its pretty good. So, all I see there is a consistent level of recruiting classes in the past which makes sense with their very consistent performance in the Big Ten. But going back to your point, I dont see this "talent level increase" unless you count adding one 3-star player a huge improvement, and for 2009 they only have 2 3-stars currently on board, although for 2010 they may actually be getting a 5 star which would be an improvement. To clarify, I am not trying to bash Wisco here, but I think we all know what Wisco is, a very consistently good team in the Big Ten that wins with good coaching and a tough home court. I dont see the Talent level of recruits having much to do with the success of the program at all. Shoot look at Bo Ryan's tenure as coach in the tourney. Second round, sweet sixteen, second, elite eight, first round, second round, sweet sixteen. -
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) They dont sell anything though, they work for the company for example Sharp and he tells us all the features the Sharp tv has and advantage over other tv's, obviously shows a little bias towards his own brand compared to others. But than when the Samsung person comes in he informs on both the plasma/lcd's. Hell even the Panasonic representative who comes in as a regular admitted he himself had a Samsung lcd instead of a Panasonic plasma. That is sales however. Nobody is saying LCD's are crap or anything, in fact they are AWESOME and it came down to sports in particular for me to decide on the plasma. I saved about a grand over the 120 hz LCD's which I thought still have that pixelating during fast motion. Also, tell that guy Panny needs to stop making tv's with a red push.

Wow, emotional fans on the board yesterday. Team are always one coach away from being an Elite team, remember that. Also, other than the UM fans on here, I dont think anyone appreciates how awful Michigan is this year. Worst team since 67? Wow. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 07:42 AM) Who cares about his strikeouts if he loses? Everyone mentions his 200 k's. Did you see him perform the last month of the season? Did you see him when he was with the Yankees? Did you see him when the White Sox were contending in 2006? He was below average. $11 million or $12 million is too much to spend on a #5 starter. The White Sox would be foolish not to trade him if a team is offering more than it would for a typical #4 or #5 starter for his services. He cannot be relied upon to win, unless you plan on having a bad team. Love it. Quite frankly, this is not a guy you want on your team if you want to contend for the World Series.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) You guys can say what you want but I work with tv's, both lcd and plasmas, and we have representatives of companies that come in and tell us what we need to know about their tv's. So my information is straight from the source, you guys are looking online from reviewers and whatnot. Those are sales folks from the companies though dude, they are going to want to push you towards selling their more expensive devices. The third party reviews like CNET are non-biased and forums like AVNET are basically a bunch of consumers as well as experts and professionals.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Hardy would be ideal. IF somehow we were able to get both Weeks and Hardy from the Brewers, our offseason could be near complete with that. With Hardy at SS and Alexei at 2B, our range up the middle would be some of the best. Also on Weeks, the man has had 2 fantastic second halves the past 2 seasons. One of these years, he's going to put 2 halves together to the tune of .280-25-75-30 w/ an .850 OPS. Buy low Kenny. With Hardy and Lexi in the middle infield you would have 40+ hr's and probably very good RBI numbers and also good defense. We still need to find a lead off man however and your only option is to find one in CF.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) If we're moving Ramirez to SS, then Hardy isn't an option. Putting him at 3rd base significantly lowers his value, and after watching a ton of Brewers games in the last 2 years, we'd be annoyed with him. He's incredibly streaky, as the last two years he was basically worthless for a half of the season. He has no speed at all either. Im pretty sure if you get someone like Hardy, you move Alexei back to 2B. And i'll take .283 .343 .821 with 20+ bombs from my SS everyday, not sure how that can be deemed negative or worthless.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) Wisconsin may be a tad underrated, they lost Butch and Steisma but are going to get more athletic and have been getting higher level recruits each year. Im thinking 15 is more appropriate as Id take them over MU right now. ? for 2008 they are ranked 4th in the Big Ten and not even in the top 30 in the country. 2007 they were 5th and not in the top 30. For 2009 I dont see a single top 100 recruit for Wisco, and only 2 in the top 150. Where are these higher level recruits?
