QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) I disagree whole heartedly. While KC does have some very good pieces in their farm system (Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Huber looks pretty good), they have absolutely zero pitching outside of Grienke and Sisco. And when you throw your FA money at people like Redman, Elarton, Sanders and couple it with some abysmal trades (Wood, Buck, Teahen(, it's obvious the problem isn't bad luck, it's poor management. Eh, their minor league system has been openly criticized of being devoid of talent, especially after this many top picks. Also they never really received much from trading their all star outfield of Dye, Beltran and Damon. The org is crappy, as is their owner.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) I'm sure 29 other teams would love to trade for a proven reliever as well. Supply and Demand is a wonderful thing, let's hope we don't overpay for one at the deadline e.g what Florida gave up for 2 months of Ron Villione. It sounds like Montero's been doing a job for us down at Charlotte, and hopefully he can do a job for us at the big league level. I know Mike said he was suprised it wasn't Tracey, but I actually thought Javier Lopez could have been the guy possibly. That would be all lefties and one righty in the pen. I think thats a little too much lefty.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:41 AM) He has had that avatar for quite some time. You are trying to stir the pot by acting like this. Let it alone, its a friggin picture. He doesnt sing the praises of the Indians, does he? Seriously, he jinxes the indians, i dont understand why that is a huge issue. The moment he put them in his avatar they tanked, and continue to.

Rumor: Sox Option Haeger to Charlotte, Plan on Promoting Tracey
RockRaines replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hey gage, good source on this..... -
QUOTE(WCSox @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) I wonder what McCarthy will think of this? It sounded like he wanted to get into the rotation if what's-his-name-from-last-night didn't pan out. Looks like Ozzie REALLY wants Brandon to stay in the long-relief role for now. this guy is a bullpen guy, which makes me believe that BMAC will be starting on monday, and maybe after that.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Rock, Guillen knows this guy from before which is why they brought him in on a minor league deal. They like his arm. 2 seamer, slider, rudimentary breaking stuff, although I just saw him on tv this spring. Definitely a live arm though. They were working on his mechanics a bit this spring and it looks like he started repeating and staying consistent. Command was always this guy's problem, so we'll see how he does. What I like is, they're taking the best RH guy down there, the guy who has done the best. Perform well, get promoted. Another advantage to having spots available on the 40 man. thanks Jim. I thought I remembered him from ST.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) That is really starting to become the Sox philosophy, and I love it. Obviously they have always wanted guys with good control, but it just seems like they have been really been pushing that recently, and its great to see. Hopefully Montero can help this club out. So, we demoted a knuckler with no control, and called up a guy who can throw strikes. Sounds good to me. Anyone have any insight as to what this guy has?

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) It really doesn't matter if he's a prospect. Just can he do the job now? Isnt top prospect Rich Hill for the cubs about 28?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) He is also 28, so not exactly an up-and-coming prospect... Yes. Nice, well I kinda like it.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) It does. And he will be. Ah, i forgot we had slots open. Looks like they wanted someone with control.

I thought it had to be someone on the 40 man?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) GMAB, I dont believe that for a second. If something like that happened, it would be all over the news. Everytime a homerun is hit, the camera zeroes in on the guy who caught the ball, especially if he throws the ball back. That s*** would be all over ESPN in a second. I go to at least 1 cubs game a year either for work, or to appease my cub fan sister. I have worn my sox hat numerous times, and never once was I afraid. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) I know I've seen that name on a sign. Where is that exactly? Is that near Addison and Damen, right on the corner? theres one on Ogden and Grand as well, I go there alot. The crust is so think you could easily handle a large solo.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 11, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) Webster is pretty bad, yeah. But I can walk to it, so thats the one I use from home. The one downtown at Monroe and Franklin is awful. I've never been in the others. I heard a rumor they are closing the Franklin one anyway. LPAC might be appealing, since they have one west loop. For 60 a month thats not bad, for a good club. Its the old hoops the gym. Randolph and ashland pretty much. Its really nice. The ballys I went to on south wells was so gross. The locker room made me cringe every time I was in it. Not to mention, what is the deal with Bally's not giving out towels??? QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 11, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) Anyone know what the World Gym near Wacker and Monroe would rape me for per month? I used to belong, I believe it was around 85 a month, and it was a dump when i worked out there 2 years ago. I work almost right next door now, and they always parade an old retarded man in an ape suit to hand out fliers.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 11, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) I hope one day the Sox are the team in Chicago, but sadly I also think the Cubs will be more popular aslong as they have Wrigley Field. Wrigleyville was once a cesspool. Now its an incon. The city is changing, the west side, and south loop are becoming nicer, and gentrification is making its way into the downtrodden areas of the city. Bridgeport and the area around the cell has changed by leaps and bounds over the last 10 years, and I expect that to continue. Not all baseball stadiums are in neighborhoods like the cubs. The yankees play in a pretty s***t area of the city, but they continue to draw lots and lots of fans. If you win, they will come.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) No, but I mix it pretty bad w/ Cubs fans. We argue all the time, very heated. If you combine drinking w/ the more hostile fans, that's why. Cubs fans are little girls.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:38 AM) I'd avoid Bally's. Their deal is, you do a contract for 2 or 3 years, at about $50 a month (give or take, depending on the deal you get, whether you want to use multiple clubs). Then after 3 years, you drop down to like $12 a month for life. Sounds good, right? Yeah, except all the Bally's I go to are in awful shape. Bad equipment (and not enough of it), locker rooms and showers are disgusting... I have heard really good things about the Lakeshore Athletic Club (downtown, LP, west loop), but they are PRICEY. There is a club above Union Station, don't know the name, that is supposed to be really good and relatively inexpensive. The ballys i went to, webster place, Clark, South Loop are all in pretty bad shape. Webster place is the best, but they dont even give you towels. PLus I never smelled anything worse than their locker rooms. Now I go to the LPAC in the west loop called WAC, and I could love it more. I think its worth the 60 a month to at least have a clean safe place to work out.

Alright!!!1 Congrats

Wow, Im surprised about how many people are really worried about Jenks. I mean you lose one game once in awhile and you would think that our players are just horrible. Big deal, he gave up more runs, we wouldnt have won anyway.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 10, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Oh. Addison mentioned you like to stir the pot yesterday, you claimed you didn't. I was curious and asked why, on a White Sox fan site, you'd have Cleveland Indians avatars. I guess I'm naive because the last I checked there are about a million different avatars to use. To use one of arguably the White Sox biggest rival on a White Sox fan site is ... well ... stirring the pot IMO. Anyway, no big deal, to each their own. Hes an Indian Jinx. Once he put them in his avatar last year, they tanked and fell out of the playoffs. This year, they are barely holding .500. Fine with me.
