  1. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 10, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) No. I just want to know about this. If I decide to go, I can easily pose as a Cubs fan. My brother likes the Cubs and he could loan me a shirt for one day. f*** it, I will go as a white sox fan. Gloating is just as fun.
  2. his article is mostly garbage, but I do like one point he makes. Thome may eventually, or already be one of the most popular players in the whole city. The guy is great on the field and off. This is the biggest market he has played in, and he is prospering.
  3. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 10, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) I just hope they don't get a lot of guys on base because methinks there's gonna more balls passing tonight than at the gay pride parade... oooo, quick shot to make the POTM thread, but it was a dud.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:19 AM) I'm right there with ya man. I have had disc problems for about 10 years and have only recently developed sciatica as well. Like you said, symptoms can go from one extreme to the other as in the cases of Hermy and Crede. Let's hope Jose can recover soon. I slipped a disc about 4 or 5 years ago during my competetive waterskiing days. It was very painful for a brief period of time. Now it will maybe act up once in awhile, but due to some stretches and strength exercises, im perfectly fine.
  5. QUOTE(bmags @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) yes...okay, i get it most of you sleep 5-6 hours per night...so do i...but normally i can fall asleep before 8 am. xanax and pot.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ May 9, 2006 -> 08:21 AM) Oh and one last piece of advice ... Yankee Stadium is unlike any other baseball environment. If you cheer loudly and often for the opposition, prepare for more than good natured ribbing. Ass kickings are a fairly common occurance. Yeah, its prob not a great idea to do that outside of the stadium either. And dont stay in the bronx or queens, its really not that nice. People really criticize chicago for some of the projects that we used to have, but on my way into Queens from White plains to see the mets play, I saw a massive amount of low income housing, its just not that nice of an area.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Freddy Garcia shouldn't be in there and neither should Jenks or Papelboner. Papelbon is 12-12 in saves with a sub 1 ERA. He belongs in there.
  8. I have insomnia bad. I ony get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Your body adjusts to it eventually.
  9. Everyone should know my views on the Widge by now. I think its only a matter of time until we see Stewart on the big league squad.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) Is there any chance this team will start wising up and playing Fields in the OF a little bit at some point this season? He wont have a huge chance of breaking in our OF either. With Sweeney, Owens, Anderson probably filling the gaps. There was talk of moving him to 1st base, but with Paulie there long term, and Thome as our DH, theres also a log jam there. Who knows what we will do with this kid.
  11. Fields does rake though, I would hate to trade young talent like that, but it appears thats what we will have to do.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) My one question is why? How does a team go from .250s-.280s to everyone in the middle of the order hitting in the .320s? Is it self-confidence? Is it expectations? Is Jim Thome THAT good? I think Thome will finish under .300, just based on his career numbers. However his OBP will be over .400 which is what his true value is. He really does make this lineup more dangerous though. Just not relying on Konerko for all the power is making the lineup more loose and comfortable. Thome is also used to shouldering the entire offensive load for a team, so he really takes alot of the pressure off. Also alot of the player have been interviewed, and they claim that one of the things Thome does best is come to the clubhouse with the same attitude everyday. He is never upset about K-ing 4 times, he is the same guy. I think that blind confidence has rubbed off alot on crede, AJP, and Dye. Jermaine Dye's performance this year has been a bit overshadowed, but he is really important to our lineup. Last year he started out the season in a huge slump, and still ended up with a great season. This year he has a ton of protection in front and behind him, which is causing him to relax and swing the way he is capable of. Our 3,4,5 hitters have to be one of the best heart's in the game. Iguchi is benefitting from having murderers row behind him. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) One thing I noticed personally about Thome is how hard the guy is working. During the Angels series, I had a chance to get a look at Thome working out in the cage below the stadium between at-bats. (Thanks to the dugout suites Jas got us which were badass by the way, thanks to Jas again.) Anyhow, in the hallway outside of the suite, you could see into the visitors batting cage below the stadium. Thome was down there stretching out between at-bats and hitting in the cage. Some of the stretching he was doing was unbelievable. For a man his size, he has amazing flexibility. Between at-bats he was busting ass, breaking a sweat and getting in plenty of cuts. The guy looked like a monster and he's definitely playing like one. Thanks for this story Boz, that sounds awesome. Can you expand on these dugout suites. I have always wondered about them.
  13. BTW 37,000 fans at the game last night was amazing. What wasnt amazing was the 37k fans doing the wave.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 9, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Well I will be there to see the knuckler in person. Hopefully the ball dances crazy for Haeger, and they impatient Angels make this a quick and easy inning for the kid. Oh, and after watching his knuckler in ST, i can say his dances like crazy. Lets just hope it dances its ass over the plate.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 9, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Well I will be there to see the knuckler in person. Hopefully the ball dances crazy for Haeger, and they impatient Angels make this a quick and easy inning for the kid. where you sitting tomorrow?
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) It was? Hardly sounds like a troll-rumor like thing to me. He even asked for confirmation. Some people just can't admit to being wrong and treating others unfairly. Kudos to you kyyle. Good job. :rolly so since he asked for confirmation, that makes it more like the truth and less like a troll rumor? I think you have it backwards. Even he presented it as a rumor. How did he get treated unfairly? Is this guy crying in the corner or something? Its a messageboard, people who make rumors their first posts get flamed. Sorry, it happens. He was right anyway, im sure thats satisfaction enough without having you carry his flag for him.
  17. wow, one of the best games we have played all year. This team is scary good right now. Lets hope Chuck can keep it rolling.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 9, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) I'm not going to reargue this incident. You may or may not have been one of the 'wolves'. I don't know and I don't care. The general atmosphere that this new poster was subjected to was deplorable. I noticed, however, you focused on the 'wolves' comment but completely disregarded the 'education of posting ettiquite' part. Hmmmm. Yet you keep posting and trying to attack me now. I addressed your ettiquite point, and after being asked repeatedly to provide a source, link, or some more info, the guy told us to get our apologies ready, and not to diss Haeger. As for the general atmosphere, people not believing a rumor? Oh god please make it stop. One can only hope that all rumors posted by a first time poster will be believed and held up as the gospel. I guess I should mysteriously infer that you have alterior motives with this: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  19. Babe Ruth hit more homeruns in a season than most of the teams did in his ERA. Neither Aaron now Bonds will ever be half the player Ruth was.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 9, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) What was the part about teaching posting etiquette to a new poster that you didn't comprehend? A little education just may have gone farther than a pack of wolves circling for the kill. As for coming across like an asshole comment, we all have our opinions on who qualified. You mean the 3 pages after his first post where people were asking for confirmation or a source? Come on. Circling for the kill, that really just makes me laugh. Its a message board. Are we worried someone got his feelings hurt? First the thing to do was discount this rumor, now the thing to do is climb up on the high horse. Hilarious.
  21. Ive had the same mini since the day they were released. Never a problem, the thing is bomb proff.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 9, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) Excellent post Mike. This site will never grow for the better, if people are going to treat people a certain way just by their post count. Every one of the posters that was bashing wcw was a newbie with a handful of posts at one time too. Yesterday was certainly disappointing, and hopefully we don't see any other cases like this. No one is better than anyone here, and some people certainly thought otherwise yesterday. Whatever. In any social situation there is going to be a pecking order. If your first f***ing post on a site is about the Ace player going on the DL Fact is, you will be judged by your post history just as if it was your actions in a social setting. If the first impression you make is one of controversey, and then subsequent coyness over how you came to your opinion, then you will be treated as such. That is the way of the land, and if someone takes it personal that their first post rumor isnt taken as seriously as an inside source, well welcome to the daily rejection of life. If you get so upset over something like that on a message board, I feel somewhat sorry for you when you face the same reaction in real life. I admit i was wrong that the rumor was false, but i would never apologize for discounting a rumor that was presented in such a way. Thats the way I will react when faced with the same situation every time. You cant trust someone, when there is no basis for trust. Maybe next time he posts a rumor, we will take it more seriously, but this time, it just wasnt in the cards.
  23. QUOTE(The-Legend-Of-Pujols @ May 8, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Now, im not a Sox fan obviously Im a Cardinals fan but I think Ill drop by here from time to time, I am an everyday poster at TalkBears, and TalkBulls so id thought Id create a name here. Ok so ne ways, I love how Joe Crede plays 3rd base. He has made dramatic improvements over the years and IMO should be in the running for a gold glove. What do you think? Man, I love Pujols, you lucky f***s. That dude is a freak of nature, and much respect to the cards and LaRussa. Crede should be up there in the GG rankings. But as long as Chavez outproduces him offensively, he will prob win it again.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) All I wanted throughout the entire thread was for wcw to say something along the lines of "Hey, i wish I could tell you guys my source, but as of right now, I cannot". I checked back, and I just kept asking him for some sort of confirmation and I was met with "You guys are all just dissing Haeger", which I was not, and did not throughout the entire thread. I really dont feel the need to apologize because backing up facts on this website is pretty important to your credibility. Yeah, I ran with the /green thread titles for a little while, but it was all in fun. I never called the guy a liar or anything like that. who cares anyway, its not like im trying to date his daughter. Act like a douche, get treated like one.
