    Its PLYO time!!!! Woooo!
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) Uh-huh. 1. Kubel can play left. And it's not like Young is a gold-glover out there... in fact, he's a hack... so defense is not likely to be the decision-maker. 2. Hmmm... Delmon Young... .723 OPS in 2007, .741 in 2008, .733 in 2009... career OBP of about .322... strikes out an average of 5X for every walk.... playing every day.... with Jim Thome on the bench. Let's see how long it takes Gardenhire to figure out what lineup scores more runs. Kubel is the full time DH. He's a hack in the field and only played there because he had two hurt teammates. Thome cant play the field, cant hit lefties, and is mostly pinch hitting. Sorry if I am not scared.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Beilein thinks it will give Michigan a spark if he doesn't start the leading scorer in the Big 10. Are you friggin serious? He wont be the leading scorer in the conference for long.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) That's the scenario if they trade Delmon Young's sorry no power-hitting keister to some other team willing to wait on his "potential". Thome will be playing the OF then? Jason Kubel is the full time DH and the team confirmed that. Thome is a pinch hitter unless they trade Kubel. DH duties Kubel 80-120 games Cuddyer-10-20 games Mauer-15-20 games Thome-10-20 games Thats about it for the DH.
  5. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) We pretty much only ordered delivery anyway so that would be welcome news. I will keep my finger's crossed. Thanks. Thats the word from the owners. You can always go eat in elmhurst at that location however, easy parking and the Sox game is always on.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Imagine a right-handed pitcher facing Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, and Thome in the middle of the lineup... and then Cuddyer behind them. Crap. And where would he be playing exactly? Who is he pinch hitting for? Because it must then be the late innings and we will bring in Matty to blow him away. With how high maintenance his back is and how little success he has had as a pinch hitter in his career, this is good news for us.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) Worst case scenario. LOL, for them. Where is he going to get at bats? They already have a superior LH DH in Kubel and need to give Cudyer and Mauer at bats as DH to keep them healthy. Its such a non story its not even funny. I'll appreciate when Thornton blows him away with high heat however.
  8. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) I don't know if it's been mentioned here on soxtalk.com (it probably has) but what about Johnny Damon? He is a lefty, can still play in the field on a part time basis, can still hit, and his price has seemingly dropped like a rock. There's your versatility, Ozzie. At the beginning of the offseason, I was thinking no way. But now that the pickins' are slim.... it might not be a bad idea. They were in contact with his agent earlier in the offseason. I know this for a fact.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 08:54 AM) I have Two Requests: Full Mac OS support, not iPhoneOS on steroids Front Facing Camera (for video conferencing) On a side note: With the push to move to digital records, I REALLY hope tablets/slates take off as the mode with which medical records are kept. Instead of a room full of paper records, you have a small room with a two servers (redundancy) that upload all the data to an secure off-site location every night, and the doctors/nurses walk around with slates to record data. As I've seen it, the few hospitals I've been too, the records keepers walk around with computers on massive carts. An easy to use Apple iSlate would do wonders towards moving that direction. There are rumors of Apple reps metting with Cedars-Sinai to discus the potential of a tablet. From technology sales person, you are never going to get to that next level as long as doctors are on the board at hospitals. Technology like electronic records and archives are a must, but the money is spent elsewhere. I have worked with hospitals that have issues with more than just patient records that have denied projects. I worked with a hospital that had a 30 percent error rate of charge codes in a dept and they just wrote it off as necessary evil.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Vito and Nick's Now end of discussion. Also good. I personally prefer salernos, Mrs T's and Armands.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) With the cubs acquiring Nady, unless they plan on moving Soriano back to 2nd then it looks like Fukudome needs a home. Hes a high obp lefty bat we could use.....thoughts???? if this is a good idea feel free to change the title lol Nady and Fuk are going to platoon in RF. So no.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Same here. Had a great time with them at a preseason game in Mil years ago. First thing Jim said to me was "f*** Timo" and I liked him immediately.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) I went to Giordano's. We have a Gino's East near me in South Bend. I can check it out sometime. Giordanos is garbage. Lou's, Art of Pizza, anything else please. And Chicago has its own great thin crust pies as well, Rosatti's, Aurelio;s etc are fantastic. My fav pizza places are not deep dish in Chicago, they are thin crust places in DG and Elmhurst.
  14. Eh, I actually met Jim and Quick in person and liked them quite a bit. The internet is the internet.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) I didn't ask to compare Jones. I think Jones is a decent gamble for us, if Q is the DH. I'm asking given the circumstances, our full roster, can we afford rolling the dice on the DH spot on guys like Kotsay and Visqeul picking up AB's as part of a platoon. The Yankees could back in 01 and 02, because they had elite offenses. As did the majority of these others teams. That makes no sense since you omitted the name of a player who WILL be in the DH rotation and injected the name of a backup infielder who probably wont spend more than 5 if any games at DH so you could make your point.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) And yet none of them involve players like Mark Kotsay, and Omar Visqeul. They all involve viable major league options for the DH. Take another look at that list again. Kotsay and Jones fit pretty good into that list actually. Vizquel is a backup infielder and wont see more than 5 games at DH if even that.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) From baseballreference.com 2009 - Matsui (116 games at DH), Posada (9), A-Rod (9) 2008 - Cliff Floyd (72), Gomes (24), Hinske (18) 2007 - Ortiz (140), Ramirez (11), Lugo (1) 2006 - Thames (43), Dm. Young (40), Monroe (30) 2005 - Everett (105), Thomas (28), Konerko (11) 2004 - Ortiz (114), Ramirez (18), Millar (8) 2003 - Giambi (69), Nick Johnson (30), Sierra (27) 2002 - Brad Fullmer (90), Salmon (21), Shawn Wooten (18) 2001 - Justice (95), Knoblauch (22), Spencer (14) 2000 - Spencer (33, Jose Canseco (26), Glenallen Hill (23) but but but, I though Thomas was our full time DH? Those all look like rotations to me.
  18. I have this thread bookmarked so we can all look back and see what ridiculous overreactions there were in here.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) Reed Johnson is such a better fit for the Cubs. They signed Nady anyway. JD is still unemployed.
  20. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) For sure... it'd be tough to see Dye on Cubs and Thome on the Twins. Not when Dye is letting fly balls drop in the outfield at Wrigley. They will have by far some of the worst corner OF'ers in the game when JD and Soriano are out there.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Knocked out Back & Chest today. This is my second week on the program and my second time with Back & Chest. Did far better today than the first time. Can already tell that I am developing strength in muscles that was not there the first go around with this workout. Still have a long way to go with some of the more difficult pushup exercises though, such as military and diamond style pushups. Those dive bombers are tough to do correctly as well. Rock, how is it going for you? Im still rocking knees on my pushups for the last few sets. Moved up to 25 pushups per set and 15 pullups though.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Finished Kenpo today. Not as easy as I thought it would be, but not brutal either. I actually found it fairly enjoyable. Tried ab ripper for the first time after Kenpo. Still pretty brutal for me. Could only get through the freaking phifer scissors before I was just wasted. Am too retarded to do reverse bicycles for some reason too... Anyways, I took a few pictures afterwards, since I basically finished week 1 today. Going to keep a "pictorial journal" or whatever of my progress as I go. Will post if people would like, but I am not going to plaster then up here without being solicited because I don't want to make anyone's breakfast come up in the morning. But if anyone is interested in seeing if they really do work, especially on a guy that spends a lot of time sitting at a computer every day (and you guys know I do), I will post them. Im gonna post my results from this round as well so dont feel like you are the only geek. I cant do reverse bikes either.
  23. Doesnt the team that wins the head to head battle by default the better team? Thats as fair as it gets.
