  1. Pretty clear this isn't Kenny Williams team anymore
  2. basically the exact opposite player as Kendall
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:42 AM) I wonder how Dicaro will cover the allegations of physical violence? I'm gonna guess she'll claim that she won't root for cubs anymore. Then when they win in the postseason she still will.
  4. if they are gonna take coleman - take him in the 30 + round as a courtesy pick. solid useful college player...not a major leaguer. despite the nice plays this weekend - hes not good defensively, no power at all, hit tool below average, and is 5-4 and already a senior Toffey is interesting - better athlete than given credit for - was supposedly projected as a future NHL player (kendall interestingly was as well), but chose baseball. REally good year as a freshman and was awful as a sophomore, before a great junior year. Very, very good knowledge of the strike zone, with added power this year (had 0 HR last year). Average defensively . I like him better than remillard because he has a much better feel for the stike zone, and remillard was a 10th rounder - so 4th round sounds about right.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Awesome set of games going with Wright, Kendall, McKay and Beer The NCAA tourney is such a fun event. Really glad you can watch the whole thing on ESPN - its so perfectly timed with the draft
  6. Ro Coleman outa the white sox academy thing with a ridiculous catch - wow
  7. Seth beer goes deep. Interesting game with he and Kendall - two guys who are pretty opposite each other
  8. kendall is a risk, no doubt about it. but we are drafting 11, not 2. Never gonna find a sure thing at 11. prior #11 picks 2016 Kyle Lewis 2015 Tyler Stephenson 2014 Max Pentecost 2013 Dominic Smith 2012 Addison Russell 2011 George Springer 2010 Deck McGuire 2009 Tyler Matzek 2008 Justin Smoak 2007 Phillippe Aumont 2006 Max Scherzer 2005 Andrew McCutchen 2004 Neil Walker 2003 Michael Aubrey 2002 Jeremy Hermida 2001 Kenny Baugh 2000 Dave Krynzel 1999 Ryan Christianson 1998 Josh McKinley 1997 Chris Enochs 1996 Adam Eaton (not that adam eaton obviously) 1995 Mike Drumright 1994 Mark Farris 1993 Daron Kirkreit 1992 Derek Wallace 1991 Shawn Estes 1990 Shane Andrews Some good players in there -but a lot more boobs. I think if you got an average everyday player at 11 youd consider yourself lucky -Kendall's defense and athleticism at a premium position I think at least give him a reasonable chance of being a 4th OFer type. If he hits, he can be a regular IMO.
  9. honestly, theres a really big difference between drafting in the top 3 and drafting 11. The cubs knew this a few years ago. A top draft pick is super important (as long as you don't blow the pick and take mark appel ahead of kris Bryant). we aren't contending, I'm honestly hoping we can trade some assets for useful prospects, and end up in the top 3. probably gonna be hard to catch the Phillies and padres
  10. sox just 2 games away from having worst record in AL. quite aways away from drafting 1-1 in 2018 though - theyd be in 2nd in the NL east!
  11. kopechs numbers are silly
  12. watched a lot of Kendall the past few years. Didn't see as many games this year as normal, but probably saw almost half. I think he's a better athlete than a ball player. Vandy does something called the Omaha challenge every year, which is a cross fit type competition in the offseason that Kendall won as a freshman, which should tell you a lot. He's from a small town in Wisconsin not very far from where I live, which I think limited his recruiting. Bat: surprising power which is bigger than his frame. You don't look at him and expect big pop, but I'm always surprised at not just the quantity of his HRs, but also how far he hits them. His swing is smooth and easy, almost looks like he under swings at times. Not sure how the power will project at the next level, but it's enough for 15 Hr a year I think. As is well documented he has big swing and miss issues. Looks like he guesses a lot, which leads him to look awful one pitch, then hit a gap shot the next. Pretty much a dead pull hitter. will probably not hit for much average at next level. I would think best case scenario is a .270ish hitter. Has some on base skills, but certainly not gonna confuse him for Zack Collins. Plus or plus-plus runner with elite speed. Defense: so hard for me to judge watching on tv, but his range is really good. True 70 runner at least. I'm told he gets good jumps on the ball. Only played center 1 year because Bryan Reynolds had been the established CFer when Kendall arrived. Jeren played right the other 2 years. His arm is adequate but probably fringe for right. Word is he propects as above average in center, and given his speed and athleticism, I believe it Overall: I think best case is a .270/.330 hitter with 15 HR, plus runner with 25 -30 SBs, and plus defense in center or left. Kind of a carl Crawford type if you will. Certainly the hit tool has question marks and he could never make the show
  13. bizarre to me that with burdis stuff he still seems semi prone to these outings. Moncada is an absolute stud
  14. really hoping they ask foulke and howry about the Tigers brawl in 2000
  15. what's the time frame for Alex call?
  16. fisher with a great game. He's been heating up lately
  17. Didn't quite realize how solid Lopez's overall numbers are. its funny when you follow these guys on a start to start basis, its some times hard to see the forest for the trees.
  18. kinda surprised this wasn't posted anywhere.... from two days ago Chuck Garfien ✔ ‎@ChuckGarfien The Washington Nationals have a crush on the White Sox bullpen. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/865795125825466368
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) And just like that you feel a whole lot better about the system's position talent, still not deep by any means but damn this is huge. now if only someone like haseley or kendall falls - not likely to happen but i can dream. Also -we are still going to add via trade within the next month or two

    5/16 Games

Hansen is definitely exciting. The size, stuff and early results are definitely there. This is more a caution to not be overly pessimistic about Giolito, rather than a caution to be optimistic about Hansen, but they are only 3 month apart in age.
  21. collins still on base nearly 40% of the time (.393). The bigger mystery to me is where is the power
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) Playing on the west coast just kills his exposure. If he were on the East Coast, you'd never stop hearing about him. yup. Everything we hear is "holy crap Bryce harper is amazing this year!" then you look up and trout is actually better and people are just like, uh oh yeah well trout is good duh 2.1 WAR already!
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) https://twitter.com/barstoolWSDKen RosenthalVerified account @Ken_Rosenthal Just spoke with MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre. No pre-game warnings for #RedSox, #Orioles tonight. Sale suspension likely. Story soon pretty interesting. I don't really agree with it. Slippery slope of trying to prove intent, especially when a guy wasn't thrown out of the game
  24. mike trout - year in and year out the best player in the majors, and STILL manages to be possibly the most underrated player in the majors. I know that everyone realizes he's the best player in the majors...but do they? this is rhetorical btw
  25. stinks for him. Doesn't look good. Agree with whoever said that play was his time bomb. He never ran through and always hit the bag hard. Worth noting that while he was having a great offensive year, he was -0.5 WAR defensively in center so far
