  1. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) Since there's no gamethread yet, Crede's sitting. I'll throw up in my mouth if Ozuna is at third again. OC, SS; AJ, C; Q, LF; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; Ozuna, 3B; Swish, 1B; Ram, 2B; BA, CF. Contreras pitching. heh...and hes protecting thome....though i think hes had solid success vs. sabathia...which is to say hes gotten alot of IF hits
  2. i know hes a high draft pick and all and wants to negotiate a fair deal, and the CWS wasnt too long ago, but anytime beckham wants to sign and start playing baseball would be fine with me
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 11:08 PM) Zumaya's stuff looks a little mediocre...he can still run the fastball up there, but its at about 95-98 rather than 99-102. And the only breaking ball I've seen him throw he ung right over the middle of the plate im pretty surprised hes being tossed in closing already
  4. i suppose the pen was due for a bad game....thankfully it was in a game they could afford it
  5. i hate casey blake....i have a bad feeling here
  6. so this is a bloop and a blast away from being tied up
  7. who do i root for in this? i feel like long term i still have to root against detroit but minny just wont go away
  8. ill pass on the clamidia for today thanks... she looks like the liberal chick they tried to put on the mike north show with about 15 plastic surgeries (cant think of her name right now...she went to notre dame though)
  9. i will go to my grave never understanding how someone can think just shoot me was funnier than seinfeld ...not pickin on you knight....i just dont get it
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) Is it possible our scouts and KW actually knew what they were talking about? haha especially when you consider that dealing young created the log jam that got us CQ btw if you adjust anderson's number to the NL, and give him a full year of playing time...you can make a good arguement that young and anderson have been roughly identical players this season (though anderson would lose a point or two because hes older and plays in a smaller park, still though...just sayin)
  11. getz has very good command of the strike zone...i honestly think hes a great fit for a team like ours right now...we have other guys that will hit the ball out of the park, but getz should be able to command the strike zone fairly well and keep a decent average....i really think he can be a ryan theriot type player...though probably with a bit less speed, but more defensive versatility
  12. i didnt make a list so i shouldnt complain too much, and i know from the scrubs thread that it gets tons of love on this site....but i will never ever in my entire life think that show is even remotely funny....i went to visit one of my buddies at purdue one week and they had the DVDs and probably watched 10 or 12 episodes over the whole week and i chuckled maybe a half dozen times the whole time i quote the far superior family guy "i was watchin that show scrubs last night....and you know what i couldn't figure out....which one is the funny one?"
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) I remember Swish did it a while ago and I heard it was funny. He called Quentin "Quinteseco" or something like that because of his resemblence of Conseco. I watched the game on MLB.com, and the audio broke out while he was reading it the lineup. Very very unlucky. cansequito is what he said
  14. ball game...haha 8 inning no hit loss
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 01:53 AM) Santo is a perfect representative of your average Cubs fan. Stupid, uninformed, and delusional. Also, it's amazing how all the idiots that said the NL is the better league this year have quited down since interleague started. Outside of the top 3 NL Central teams, that league is awful. This might be the worst the NL has ever been actually. I can't explain why the AL is just always better than the NL these days, but I think the DH is a factor. Either that, or the AL just has way more good (and young) pitching. oh its the pitching staffs for sure...even outside the cubs those NL Central teams arent that good....i mean right now with Wainright on the DL the cardinals starting rotation is Braden Looper, Kyle Lohse, Joel Piniero, Todd Wellemeyer and Mitchell Boggs....4 guys they got off the scrap heap and someone ive never heard of brewers outside of sheets are terrible as well....i mean lets be honest, jeff suppan got killed in the AL and is a righty who doesnt throw harder than 88, the NL West is just laughably bad...arizona is back to the norm offensively... NL East is the best NL division IMO....i still dont believe in the marlins, but i think the braves are a solid team and i think the phillies are pretty good...the mets i dont see as having enough pitching behind johan, but still are alright
  16. thats honestly the best looking wallpaper ive seen on here in a while......
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) When Ryan Franklin is your closer, yes, you should. that pitching staff epitomizes how bad the NL is ....its a good NL rotation full of guys pulled off the AL scrap heap
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Anyone hear Steve Stone say that Ron Santo was complaining how the Cubs have more injuries than anyone? Stone quickly responded to Santo that the Cards have 11 pitchers on the DL, and Santo got annoyed with Stone and "walked" away. piniella has sure been doing alot of whining about being beat up too...i find it hilarious that so many people in baseball complain about injuries, then end their rant by saying "but we arent gonna complain about injuries, its a part of the game"
  19. this is from baseball prospectus

  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 12:15 AM) Any word on what we gave up? nope, ive been waiting to see that myself...pax mentioned that weems wouldnt be with the bulls though so it will certainly be weems and maybe just cash or something btw Paxson said 3 years down the line he may be ready to play here, but that Hollinger article says 5.....5 years seems like an awful long time to wait on a guy
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) This is just speculation on your part, correct? no it was up on espn saying that asik was drafted by portland (from New York, Traded to Chicago) http://sports.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/t...008&round=2
