Sox versus Yankees July 30, 2009 game thread

QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) I hope Swisher gets booed out the stadium. Dirty .225 Hope not - he hit a gw-hr in the only game I got to go at The Cell last year. -
I do it, but I'm not sure the Jays do. It all depends on whether or not another team has better pieces to offer.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) Hmm, I never heard of a Black, Jew, or Mexican eating a small child. You learn something new every day, thanks longshot As for my homework, I worked for Pet Rescue, and my friend ran a Pit rescue herself. I have plenty of cases right in front of my face that proved my opinion to me. I also know a girl in Carbondale who is going through pretty intensive reconstructive surgery because she was mauled by a few pits that escaped their yard. Not fighting pits, just pits. So, your teacher and my teacher are giving us different grades I did A LOT of research when I adopted mine because I believed those stories. In 9 out of 10 stories in the media that mention "pit bull attacks" the dogs in question are not actually pit bulls. The media (and most average people) just assume them to be and the stories grow from there. http://www.thetruthaboutpitbulls.com/ http://www.midwestrescueabull.org/myths.html http://hubpages.com/hub/Truth-About-Pit-Bulls and that's just the first few google hits.....

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) People who hate pit bulls and advocate the banning of pit bulls should be beaten with sticks. Finally someone I agree with. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 06:51 AM) People who feel like this should stand in the ring with two fighting pitbulls so they know what it is like when these types get free and attack people. Do your homework. Pitties are lovers and live to please. People that train them to fight should get the death penalty. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) I understand that the breed can be good, but they have earned their reputation in a lot of areas of this country. The same was said about blacks, mexicans, and jews at various times thru history and how do we feel about these statements now?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) The Dead Weather's album "Horehound" is pretty freaking awesome. In case you are unaware, this is Jack White's new project. Saw them on Conan - seemed like a mediocre garage band to me, but whatever.....

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) Buehrle has been bumped back to Saturday and Danks bumped to Friday, per Gonzales. read above.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) You won't have Halladay for 3 years. You have him for 2. And that is and always has been a loaded question. Yes, you're right, but you can bet if they trade for him, they're signing him to an extension. The best rotation in the game in a five or seven game series - likely another WS championship. Trade whoever it takes.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) That's another thing that boggles my mind. Why can we get our guys in in the final vote, but not the original one? Is it apathy? They've just been beaten out by bigger stars - even in 06 when we had 7 all-stars. Although, we have had two pitchers start the all-star game in the last twn years.

They were jeans.

QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Last I saw MB was giving up 8 runs to the .500 twins so no, I don't think that is the same, and I definitely don't see us reaching the world series with Fields at 3B and Nix at SS. Giving up too much future in that deal. Everyone has a bad day once in a while, but I guess you didnt read my post. I said trade Beckham, but no one else. F--- the future if it means another title, that's my thinking.
-
QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) Ummm, how many titles do the Blue Jays have and they have had halladay for 14 years, seeing as we have so many MLB ready infielders in our minor league system I am sure we could replace the entire left side of our infield no problem. And Halladay isn't that much better than Gavin, especially since you are only getting 1.5 years out of him at a high price, the only good news is he comes off the books for the 2010 free agency year which is flush with stars. But isn't a Halladay/Buehrle-anchored rotation almost as good as the Johnson/Schilling one the Dbacks had in 2001? Wouldn't that be enough to put us over the top, the future be damned?
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) I wouldn't deal Beckham straight up for Halladay. Beckham is about as close to a guaranteed future star as you’re ever going to see. Six more seasons of Beckham for a total cost of roughly $20 million is insanely more valuable than a year and a half of Halladay. What if you get a World Series title in the next three seasons? Would that make it worth it?
-
Maybe I am crazy, but I'd trade Beckham. Straight up only tho - no one else.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Longview Basket Case She Brain Stew Jaded Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) Minority Hitchin' A Ride A handfull of songs from American Idiot. Those are the same ones they played last tour - wish they'd change those up a bit.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) I saw Green Day at the United Center last night. I normally hate arena shows, but this was pretty good. They had fireworks and played like 24 tunes. what old songs did they play?
-
Saw Slayer last night in San Bernadino - they still got it. Good raw metal - loved it. Also discovered Bullet for My Valentine - great stuff. Manson played - meh....
-
I would trade Gavin for Halladay in a heartbeat. I think we have a tendency to overvalue our own players. Two aces on the staff and you give yourself a legitimate WS contender for the next three years-- and that's worth it.
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) Then you'd be the GM who couldn't trade Holladay. Yes, you trade talent for talent, but 23 yo talent and 33 yo talent are not equal. There are other factors involved than just pure talent, and trading a future ace @ 1/10 the salary and under control for years for an aging ace with about 10,000,000 IP and a sizeable salary + extenstion would be stupid as s***. This is about money for the BJ's. They are bleeding money and will not be able to resign him anyway, so why not dump his salary for a couple good prospects while you still can. Then I guess we won't get him. I wonder who will......

Husker du FTW!!! Saw some amazing bands at Warped Tour - Anti-Flag, Ataris, Devil Wears Prada, NOFX, Big D and the Kids Table, Civet, so many others......

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) lol, no way you trade Danks for Halladay. No way you trade Danks period. He's part of our core. And no one is just saying Richard and Allen. Most ideas have been centered around a top prospect in Poreda, a decent prospect in Richard, a good prospect in Allen, and a few other players. Then don't make the trade, but I can't believe anything else will actually do the trick.
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) not a chance in hell you trade a 23 yo Danks for a 33 yo Halladay. I wouldn't even do that straight up, let alone with Allen. Don't be a Cub fan - you have to give talent to get talent. Why would the Jays trade Halladay for an unproven starter (Richard) and a minor-league hitter (Allen)? They have to compete with the Yanks and Red Sox. If I'm Ricciardi, I want a major league starter in return that isn't some team's rookie 5th starter........ that's all I'm saying.....
